Established in 2000.

Owner Faysal and his family have been selling pitas and smoothies to the Houston public for over 20 years now. Since opening day Faysal has placed quality and customer service as the most important values at Island Grill. Island Grill was Houston’s first juice bar and today is its finest Mediterranean restaurant!

I came to this café last Saturday and I’d like to say, that Island grill is the best place I’ve been visited in Huston. Perfect menu, polite and fast service and very god prices are right components of comfortable atmosphere of this place. The interior of «Island grill» looks very beautiful. It’s a good place for big companies. I ordered California fresh pita and it was so delicious. The dining area is very big and you can sit in the café or outside. I like this place. Highly recommended.

My hangry friend was acting a bit crazy and wanted juice in her system ASAP. She found the Island Grill nearby, so we went for lunch on a late Wednesday afternoon. We were told to order from the front, pay, and they’ll bring our order to our table. The hangry one ordered the the Green Wave juice (carrots, cucumber, celery, spinach, and parsley) for $ 6.99, and I ordered the Smooog Sailing smoothie (carrots, apples, strawberries, and ginger) for $ 5.99. We were a hungry as well, so we shared the Kabob Plate mixed with chicken and beef and two sides for $ 15.99. We chose the tabbouleh salad and hummus.
Our drinks came out first. As soon as we both sipped down, we had the same reaction of «something’s missing here.» My Smooog Sailing smoothie tasted watered-​down, and was not what I was expecting at all. I wanted it to have more flavor and some spiciness from the ginger, but I was completely let down. As for the Green Wave juice, the hangry one said it was «weird-​tasting» and watery as well.
The Kabob Plate came out after. The chicken and beef was placed on top of the pita bread and making the bread a bit soggy, so we asked to get extra bread on the side to dip into the hummus. The hummus had olive oil in it and tasted good with the pita bread, but it was lacking any herbs and spices. I enjoyed the tabbouleh salad as it was fresh though. The main highlight of the meal was the chicken and beef. Wow, I have not had mouthwatering meat like this in my mouth for a while. The chicken and beef broke apart easily between chews as it was cooked to perfection and had all of the right flavor. Boom!
Fortunately for me, the hanger faded from my friend’s face and stomach, and she returned to normal. Thank you Island Grill! Overall, I really liked this place, and I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu, especially for that chicken and beef quality.

I work next door at the spa so this place has been my go-​to lunch spot and they’re great! They are quick and very sweet! Reasonable prices and great food and smoothies. I think I’ve tried almost everything on the menu! Great spot!

My boyfriend decided to stop by here on a early Saturday. We were greeted as we walked in and sat at the bar and ordered. We ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and the cheese burger with bacon. The food was absolutely delicious. Both the chicken and the burger were juicy and full of flavor. The greatness didn’t stop there. We are both huge soccer fans and we got to watch Barcelona and Real Madrid in the El Classico which we enjoyed and cheered along with the waitstaff and kitchen staff. Overall a fantastic little joint that we will be returning to.

I’ve been here on several occasions and was underwhelmed each time. The traditional gyro pita isn’t particularly amazing, but it’s just decent enough to make a second visit.
The actual dining area is very small and cramped. I’ve never dined in for this reason. And although my interaction with staff has been limited to pick-​up orders, I’ve always felt rushed and generally unwelcomed.
If you are in the Tanglewood area looking for Mediterranean eats, Island Grill is convenient. However, if you’re truly on the hunt for amazing mediterranean food regardless of proximity, keep looking.

DELICIOUS! Such a cute little spot that’s tucked away. I finally was able to try it, and ordered the Island Salad with Chicken. I got my meal to-​go and when I got home to get it together it was HUGE! They gave me probably 5⁄6 ounces of chicken. The chicken has a distinct seasoning to it that I really enjoyed and went well with the salad. The meal came with a foil package of cut up pita bread that was wonderful… possibly the best pita bread I’ve ever had. I saw they had a good selection of smoothies, and other small plates that sounded awesome. It seems like a great place to get a quick and delicious bite!

Not Healthy and not Mediterranean.
Went here for a company lunch — decided never to go here again. Meat was very salty and extremely oily. It’s ok if you don’t want to be healthy but then make the food taste better. Extra oil and salt to the point where the food doesn’t taste good anymore is pointless. Also, service was extremely bad they didn’t get my order right.

Haven’t had lunch there but I certainly don’t recommend breakfast. $ 3 for a breakfast taco and the eggs were way overcooked and I couldn’t find the sausage. You’d be doing better to go to Jack in the box.

Love this place! Seriously addicted to «the Hanover platter». The seasoned chicken grilled w onions, mushrooms and walnuts take me over the edge. The hummus here is some of the tastiest in all the land (I opt for double hummus in lieu of tabbouleh salad)! The staff here is consistent in courtesy. I’m a fan.

Three words: grilled chicken pita. I recently moved to Atlanta, but when I come home I make sure Smoothie Island is my first stop! The food is delectable and the prices are even better! They have a very friendly staff, too. I’m still looking for a Mediterranean grill here that measures up, but I haven’t come across anything yet. This place is top notch.

This place is a little hidden gem. Part of it I think is that their name is a little misleading. It’s as if the «grille» part is an afterthought.
The dining room is a little too cramped. The service is friendly but not lightning speed. I got the Mideast Pita (tabbouleh, hummus, avocado, add chicken) and I appreciate that they don’t skimp on the ingredients but it makes the pita damn near impossible to eat.
That said, I would return. It’s conveniently located on Woodway.

Always so fulfilling when I come here. I always always always get the beef pita with an extra side of the garlic sauce. It is SO GOOD! it’s so flavorful yet so simple. I can’t even comprehend!
My boyfriend usually gets the Philly cheese steak! Its bombbbb dot com! I’m not really a Philly cheese steak fan but it is divine here! Its filled with ooey gooey cheese and their good quality beef with green a ND red peppers!
They’re Juices Never Fail either!

What a hidden gem! Located right across the street from my YogaOne class, I was itching for a fresh smoothie and bite to eat. The «smoothie» in the name grabbed our attention so my friend and I headed on over.
A casual and clean order at the counter spot with open inside and outdoor seating. Huge selection of smoothies with great juices (e.g. coconut, papaya) and vanilla yogurt — which adds a great texture and taste to them. Menu selection is good — burgers, salads, pita sandwiches and even larger plate entrees. Some items are pricier (~$ 15), but if the quality is the same throughout — don’t mind it!
I had the Island Oasis smoothie with a Chicken Caesar Salad, friend ordered a pita sandwich. Food and smoothies came out fresh and fast. My initial expectations upon entering were low, but lesson learned on not judging a book by its cover. LOVED my salad and the fact that it came pre-​mixed (avoided the usual hassle of tossing the salad and spillage over the bowl). The chicken was grilled and peppered perfectly, the dressing had an added spice to it and best of all the salad wasn’t drenched with dressing but lightly covered. The lettuce was fresh and crisp — butter, garlic croutons topped everything off nicely. Decent portion too, I was comfortably full post smoothie and salad, which isn’t the usual for most my «healthier» meals.
Great meal at a good price — I’ll be back! For all you YogaOne yogis, this is a great place to stop after class to grab a refreshing, quick meal.

One very tasty chicken pita in their famous garlic sauce is a must-​try here! They also have delicious egg-​white breakfast tacos and an assortment of healthy smoothies for post-​workout days. Food can take a little time to make as it’s all freshly prepared so a hummus appetizer with pita bread isn’t a bad idea!
After numerous visits, I’ve decided to revise my review from 4 to 5 stars. Food quality here is excellent. I’d like to add the California Fish pita as a must try here!
