One of the best food experiences in Houston for me as at the Hit N’ Run food truck. The burger on jalapenos bread was made of amazing-ness. I definitely wasn’t expecting the surprise when I ordered it. It’s the kind of surprise that one can definitely appreciate. Would go again.

75 degrees. Sunshine. My brother, a bucket of beer, and several sad attempts at cornholing in Liberty Station’s(sweet bar, by the way) front yard. That’s fluff, folk, for a reason: this was the *perfect* day. I had a slight buzz, the sun on my back, and family and friends laughing all around me, a picture painted all the more brightly when the Hit N Run truck pulled up at the bar’s front door. This is the best burger I’ve ever had. I’m tracing my steps, now, and rethinking each bite, trying to be absolutely certain that I’m not letting a stellar specimen of an afternoon influence my judgment. I was buzzed, right? And, you know, *sun.* That’s good stuff. But I’m still convinced, weeks later, that Hit N’ Run has a burger to match Father’s Office in my beloved Los Angeles. That’s no easy thing to say, but Hit N Run deserves it – they’ve got a perfect burger, here, for a perfect day, and have worked some kind of black magic to make every single bite an utterly blissful thing to experience. So go. Get a little buzzed. Order the burger, and then(if you find yourself reeling) order another. That’s what I did, friends, and I’m still smiling.

This burger was DAMNGOOD! Wondered over to the food truck meet up today for lunch with the office, and out of all of these food trucks, this was the one I hadn’t tried, besides the hotdog one.(not a fan of gormet dogs) I was super excited when I saw people walk away with a huge pile of ooey gooey cheesy goodness with some serious beef. There menu as stated is limited, but that’s okay with me because everything is VERYGOOD! The ginormous burger I had, I coudn’t finish, it came with cooked onions, beef, cheese, jalapenos, and other good on a jalepeno bread. $ 8) a side of sweet potato fries(oh so cripsy, and perfect) $ 3. We found Nemo tacos were enjoyed by my co worker 2 for $ 8, and the egrolls with Shiner Bock Batter were delish! Needless to say the diet was broken, but it was well worth it!

I had my first taste of Hit ‘N Run at a recent food truck event, and while food truck food tends to sacrifice quality in favor of quantity at these sorts of things, I was pleasantly surprised(maybe even shocked) to find the slider from Hit ‘N Run still very, very good. The meat was not overcooked, and it was served with cream cheese, a slice of bacon, of tomato, and of jalapeño, all wedged inside a Hawaiian sweet roll with a little chipotle(?) sauce to round out the flavor. The slider was delicious, so well put-together, that I believe it would only be better had I ordered it a la carte instead of receiving as a sample at a food truck event. I would definitely try their other food, especially if they put that much care into pumping out hundreds of sliders.

Got to try their burger at the food truck crawl at Boneyard and really enjoyed it! I would come back for it again and it made me more interested in trying out their other items. The bun for the burger reminded me more of a hawaiian sweet bread and the onions added to the sweetness — didn’t realize there were jalapenos in it but the spicy kick was a nice touch.

Are you ready for this? I kid you not. The best fish taco I have ever had in my life. Flavorful and fresh tasting with wonderful flaky texture. More? The best cheeseburger in its price range I have ever had in my life, juicy and delicious on a fresh bun. I may be in shock, not expecting such an experience from my first ever gourmet food truck visit. Or maybe not. I can’t wait to visit again.

I am new to the food truck scene, but a friend of mine told me to try hit and run at lizards pub. I ordered the killer burger and it is the best burger I have ever had. I was skeptical at first bc of the cream cheese, but it was AWESOME! I have tried everything else on the menu and I must say it doesn’t disappoint. If you get the chance, stop by, and I recommend the burger.

I went to the food truck festival a couple weeks back with a friend, and we made the mistake of ordering food from almost every food truck all at once and then swooping around to pick up all the food… we ended up circling back around for the«pickup» almost 45 minutes later, which left us with a lot of food at once AND some cold food!(We were«tired» from the night before anyway so our decision making skills were below par) Anyway, we ordered at the Hit N’ Run last, and when we swooped back they had already sold our burgers because we were so late. The owners were super awesome though, and offered to make us new burgers. We said not to worry about it b/c we felt so bad, but they insisted it was going to be the best burger we ever tried. They. Were. Right. The killer burger was ridiculous. We were so freaking full from all the other trucks, but this burger was so damn good I actually took it home and took bites throughout the night to savor it.(That’s right. I’m not ashamed to admit it. I eat cold burgers too.) It was so delicious. I don’t know what kind of crack they put in there, but they sure know how to do it right. Top the amazing burger off with killer music, a great staff and a stylin truck– you’ve got a little piece of food truck heaven. I’m officially a stalker. Thank you guys!

First thing I noticed about this place was the Music which was kinda cool. The menu is small, but the food was good. Me and my roommate decided to make our way over to Inversion to try this one while we got our coffee. Killer burger(8 bucks +2 for fries, which are 3 dollars by themselves) and fries was pretty good. Me and my roommate both agreed the creaminess of the chipotle mayo drowned out the cheese and none of the cheese flavor came through. but it was still a damn good burger. I’m guessing the onions were cooked in coke, which made them really sweet and a nice contrast from the saltiness of the bacon and spiciness of the jalapenos. Fries were meh. I like my fries with some skin(Bernie’s has the best hand cut ones I’ve tried so far). My roommate had decided to opt for the egg rolls(too much to write down check out whats in them ) but was sourly disappointed when they said they were already out! I could understand if it was closer to when they pack up. but it was only an hour after they set up shop. which left a bad taste in my roommates mouth(or no taste at all). Taking credit cards is cool, but I don’t think i can justify stalking this truck. especially since I tried almost half of there menu in one visit. Either way the food was good and I would eat it again if it was on the way or near somewhere I was already heading.

I tried this truck at the food truck festival. Here’s what I thought: The live music was a nice touch. Instantly drew me into the excitement. I ordered the«we found nemo» fish taco. I have a love interest with fish tacos, one of my favorite items to order when out. The first thing I noticed when taking a bite was the corn tortilla. It is most definitely homemade. I have never in my life had a corn tortilla so fresh, soft and malleable. Just like good bread on a sandwich makes or breaks the sandwich, this tortilla took the taco to a completely different universe than that of a store bought tortilla. Secondly, the fish was grilled(which made me happy– usually when ordering fish tacos if you want your fish grilled you need to specify because the tradition is typically fried fish inside) and topped with cabbage, some special sauce and garnished with cilantro. It was the best party in my mouth that a fish taco has ever provided. Other things on their menu that look worth trying: Drunken Squealer and the DS Egg Roll.

Thank gaw this place takes credit card because it’s pretty dang pricey. $ 5 for a taco? Wow. Two for $ 8? Is that considered a deal? Granted the taco was decent… $ 8 for the burger(add two smacks for fries) and $ 6 for egg rolls. Fries. And that’s it guys. There’s your menu. I don’t think I’m going to stalk this truck anymore. While the food was pretty fresh and flavorful, I’m not quite sure I’m down with the price tag to dine standing up.

just stopped by tonight. We tried to buy food but they were closed for the night. we were saddened as we hear great things about them. They offered us a pre-made burger & fish taco that they were going to have for after work — gave it to us to try & if we liked to come back for more. I don’t know how long ago it was cooked but I have to say that killer burger was probably the best burger I’ve ever had — the caramelized onions, jalepeno, bacon, & buttery bun was like a flavor explosion — & it wasn’t even warm — can’t imagine how good it would have been had it been fresh. The fish taco was great — I liked the burger more but the taco was flavorul — especially with the sauce. It was a great experience. I will definitely come back — It was like the candyman giving you a free sample knowing you would come back & buy ten-fold more. doh

It was friday night and I was looking for dinner. The only places left on my bookmarks to try are upscale joints and food trucks. I was rolling by myself so opted for a food truck. This night the Hit N Run truck was parked in the back of Maple Leaf Pub, so that was already a plus since I love that bar! So I rolled up, and they had their small menu available. Burgers, Fish Tacos, Eggrolls, and Fries. I wanted to try everything but I opted to start off with the pulled pork eggrolls. It comes with 2 eggrolls per order for 6 bucks. The eggrolls were pretty big and cut in half so 4 good sized eggrolls. The pork was good, but I wasn’t impressed by the outer shell. As far as my meal, I had the burger and sweet potato fries. It was 10 for the combo. The burger was AMAZING. It reminded me of a big slider, if that makes sense. But the thing I like about most sliders is the bread, usually a sweet soft roll. Also, this burger was covered with caramelized onions, damn, just adds to the sweetness of the burger. However, this burger was not only sweet but spicy. There is a kick given via the jalepenos, never had sweet and spicy before but it’s a great mix of the taste spuds. Overall, I enjoyed the food, it came out fast, but only gets 4 stars because of the price. In comparison with other food trucks their limited menu is about 2 – 3 bucks more expensive per item than other trucks.

I haven’t had a chance to try anything on their menu besides their Killer Burger. It was pretty good. The jalapeño bun was something different… and I LOVE crumbly cheese in my burgers(actually, I like crumbly cheese with anything I eat). I’m also a sucker for burgers. I don’t think you can ever make a ‘bad’ burger… unless it’s burnt or really salty, which the Killer Burger was not. Their menu is very eclectic, so I look forward to trying more items off the list! Also, the one lady who served me from the truck was really nice. +1 for great, friendly service and interesting food items! I’ll try to catch ‘em when I can.

Us Unilocal yobs had just come from a fantastic crawfish UYE, which had entailed the long-awaited Unilocal Houston t-shirts, crustaceans whose shells would certainly provide a tactical advantage to American military efforts, a dog named Theodore/Stella(he/she has a fluid gender identity), and never-realized games of spin-the-bottle. I was convinced that I was going to get the FTR for the Hit n’ Run Foods truck(damn you, Unilocal search function!), so it was only after extracting promises(and the unspoken threat of a world of hurt – no, make that galaxies, nay, universes upon alternate universes) did I lead our merry band to Lizzard’s Pub, where Hit n’ Run was parked. I kind of liked Lizzard’s, as it’s in a residential area, and just looks like a house done as a bar. There were an abundance of khaki shorts, Wayfarers, polos and button downs, and flip flops – where am I, Princeton? Had I known, I would’ve brought the polos I’d gotten for Halloween(my original plan last year was to go as a douchebag, but I wound up dressing up as a saucy… beer maid? Robin Hood? whatever, the point wasn’t to be accurate) and popped some collars. Oh well. The menu was small, with just three items. –Killer Burger($ 8, $ 10 with fries — 1/3lb, with applewood bacon, cheese, coked up onions, tomato, chipotle mayo, thinly sliced jalapenos on a jalapeño cheese bun): I actually liked this for the chipotle mayo, bacon, and the soft onions, but the burger meat doesn’t have much inherent flavor, and the jalapeño cheese bun didn’t add much, due to a lack of overwhelming jalapeño cheesiness and squishability(squishable buns are key to maximal burger enjoyment). Also, this would’ve been much better(and worse) had the burger been made from roadkill. -«We Found Nemo» tacos($ 5, $ 8 for two — grilled tilapia, shredded cabbage, «Nemo» sauce, lime, gruyère, on «the best tortilla you’ll ever have») — I find the name to be rather disturbing. I loved Nemo. Why would I want to eat Nemo? Though, Nemo was a clownfish, so I would suggest the addition of some orange spicy sauce. Also, does this mean that Nemo was run over with a speedboat? Poor Nemo. For the food, I don’t know that the tortillas were best ever, and tilapia is tilapia, but the«Nemo» sauce was slightly spicy, and mildy creamy and went well with the squeeze of lime. Still, I’m used to food truck tacos to being cheaper – $ 3 or $ 4 max. –Drunken Squealer($ 6 for 2 — eggroll with Shiner Bock braised pulled pork, cilantro, lime butter, roasted corn, «coked up onions») — I was a little apprehensive when it came to this, as I didn’t think a thin, crisp wrapper could stand up to the pulled pork, but this was a fried eggroll with a wrapper of the thicker, doughier, non-Asian variety. The creamy, slightly tart dipping sauce and the wrapper went well with the pork, though it was just a little bit too doughy. –Sweet potato fries($ 3) — Eh. They could’ve been crisper. The truck is housed in a lurid vomit-green Winnebago with the image of a cockroach-squirrel lovechild(it looks like a squirrel, but I’m assuming one of its parents is a cockroach, in order for it to survive getting run over across its belly). There was also a logo of the CIA(Culinary Institute of America), so at least one of the chefs went to Hyde Park. Hit ‘n Run gets 3.75 stars for me – the food wasn’t outstanding, but I enjoyed it. However, given the minimal menu choices, I’m rounding down. Of course, the real star of our trek was one Unilocaler’s nipping(may I advise fewer white shirts?), which is still preferable to NRBs.

The Killer Burger definitely hit the spot today. After most other trucks had closed shop at Haute Wheels, this one was still chugging along. They took a quick inventory and all they had left was the Killer Burger. I was a bit disappointed as the fish taco with gruyère and cilantro, two of my favorie ingredients, sounded great too. I got my burger within 15 minutes and found a place to hide from the sun with some friends and eat. Since my lips were already a bit sunburned from standing around all day, that first bite really hit me hard! If you have chapped lips, beware! When the chipotle mayo and fresh jalapeño’s hit me, it felt like my lips were on fire! But after that first bite, I adapted and found the burger delicious. The cream cheese works well by adding a bit of creaminess but letting the spicier ingredients take center stage — and then you get that hint of smoky flavor from the bacon. Yum! I was honestly just expecting a typical burger but with a bit of heat, so I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would! Maybe one day I’ll be able to hunt these guys down again and try the fish tacos. Otherwise, I just wish they could come out to the side of town I work in(Pasadena-LaPorte Plants) with their goods. Edited to add: I think it’s funny that Unilocal!is asking me if a food truck has outdoor seating. They most definitely do!

Not many items on the menu but they are all awesome! As a fan of fish tacos, I wasn’t expecting to get the best fish taco out of a truck in Houston, but I did. Hit N’ Run’s fish taco had the freshest, flakiest grilled fish(Tilapia) I’ve had in a taco. The sauce was smothered over the cabbage and cilantro and wasn’t heavy at all. The Killer Burger was a serious undertaking. The bun is spicy with a touch of sweetness as it is made with jalapeño. The chipotle mayo added some more spice that cut through the fatty clever addition of a slice of cream cheese. The burger was also fresh and beefy and topped by a few extra thick smoky slices of bacon. My only complaint is that the burger patty was overcooked for my taste, but since I forgot to specify that I wanted it medium rare they don’t lose any points on this review. Fries are fries, so I wasn’t expecting to be wowed by the sweet potato fries; however, they were very good and the home made ketchup paired well. Other than that, I can’t wait to go again so I can try the Drunken Squealer Egg Roll!
