As someone who works out a lot and also sits at a desk all day, I get different pains and stiffness that can accompany those daily routines. Hand and Stone has become one of my solutions to keep my body healthy and in working order.
Now, this is not some fancy five star spa, but the prices are not that of a fancy spa. That being said, I still think they do a nice job keeping everything clean and making the experience relaxing. When I walk in, I am greeted by friendly reception staff, I am offered tea or water and then I read a magazine until my appointment time. If I do have to wait a few minutes past my appointment time (which is rare), they ensure that I will still get my full 50 minutes, if my schedule allows. I also like that they offer appointments well into the evening, so I can get there after work easily. Teriah has been my therapist for the last 6 months, and she always makes me feel very comfortable and does a great job relieving any aches or stiffness I may have.
For me, this is part of my routine to take care of myself, just like exercise, eating healthy, etc. I like that they offer both massages and facials and different add-​ons to your treatment. If you want a simple massage for relaxation or relief then I would highly recommend this place. Thanks Hand and Stone!

I received a gift card for a regular facial, and upgraded to a microdermabrasion when making the appointment; it was my first time there. The staff was courteous and Dzenita competent (although she never smiled – but, to be fair, maybe she just needs time to warm up). I’m sorry I didn’t read the reviews before I went, however, but there was a pervasive attitude to «sell,» which started when I filled out their intake info and continued in the room with a flyer about aromatherapy to a tour (afterwards) of the products and the inevitable question about purchasing a membership. I declined everything, and they took my responses with equanimity, but I must say that the unrelenting pressure made me uncomfortable, and I won’t be back. There are MANY great options for facials and massages in Houston, so there’s no reason to settle for less-​than-​warm aestheticians and, more importantly, conversations that consist primarily of «No, thank you» when you are repeatedly asked to spend more money.

My fiancé and I wanted to do something nice for ourselves before Chrismtas and we decided to do the couples massage. They are offering a really great deal and we jumped right on it. Samantha was my therapist and she was wonderful. Absolutely worth it. Thank you so much for making the day a little brighter. Merry Christmas Eve.

Anytime an owner reaches out to try and make a bad situation better, they deserve an update on the review. The owner of Hand and Stone reached out to me last year about my facial experience, and offered to rectify the situation. Almost a year later I decided to give it a whirl. The facial was much much better. I had Sona, and she was very knowledgeable about skin, and what worked and what doesn’t. She asked me what products I was using now, and unfortunately again starting with the upselling. I’m thinking it’s a Hand and Stone thing and not a facialist thing since it has happened twice. It was annoying, but not nearly as bad as last time. Sona did a great job on the facial, and my skin did look better afterwards. Personally I would rather just know exactly what price I was paying going in right away then getting upsold.

I really liked this place. The facility itself is really clean and calming. I got an introductory facial that with Dzenita, who was great. She started with a steamer and what I would call a face massage (it was pleasant). She also did extractions and a face mask. The mask with vitamins made my face burn, but I have really sensitive skin. She immediately removed it and applied an oatmeal mask, which was awesome. You also get a mini massage for neck and arms.
Overall, this was a great experience and I will be back. After reading reviews from other Unilocalers I came in with the mindset that I would be upsold and though they did ask, they were not persistent.

I’ve been going here for the past 3 months for facials, I have cystic acne and Mary does a damn good job in advising me what I should go through, which has been clearing my face progressively. Every time I get there I am greeted with a cold cup of water and the facial starts, no waits in and out as soon as I was scheduled. Although I had someone else another time she was not as great and gentle, Mary has the experience hands down. I asked for the most experience because of my situation when I first began, which makes me happy that I’m getting the most for my buck, especially since my dermatologist prices are through the roof! For me this is place is great and prices are fair can’t wait to try some of the massages.

Apparently your Therapist had an issue with me, we were friends before I came here. I specifically came here because of him. I will never be back as I only came because he was here and knew how to treat my medical issues.

Sorry Hand and Stone, but I have literally just walked out of your establishment feeling like there is more acid build up in my muscles than when I came in.
I get massages on the reg, more often now, but have been to enough to know that I just got jacked out of $ 63.
The gentleman who rubbed me started out great. Getting all the spots in the almost amazing amount of pressure I wish all therapists had. Soon, it seemed he lost steam. He found my trouble spot, a line of muscle tension that runs from the front of my left shoulder to the lower back. When I say this line is obvious, I mean it is about a 1\2 inch raise in my back due to spinal issues. I told him previously, «you’ll know what to work on when you feel it» because its kind of hard to explain when your whole back is sore.
He rubbed that particular spot for maybe 2 minutes. Not to mention there was no loosening of the shoulder tension (only neck, which is cool but I don’t carry tension there) that is done when you are face up. I will add he spent about 15 minutes on legs and bare glutes (its not unusual, but when you go in saying your back is sore, they don’t tend to expose your ass to rub).
The fancy things like heated towels and remote raised beds, keep it. I want therapy. I want relief.
When you asked me if I want to put $ 89 down for a membership after my not-​what-​I-​asked-​for rub, I wanted to throw my half cup of coconut water in your face.
I now have to contact someone to finish the job. Thanks guys.

Needed a massage desperately, I was booked with Tearih (sorry for spelling) I got the hot stone massage and peppermint scalp massage. She knew exactly where I held my stress and focused on my needs, she was great! Looking forward to my follow up visit.

Not the best massage I’ve ever had, but good enough for the price in a clean, pretty facility.
I am a firm believer in that you get what you pay for — I had no specific pains and wanted a generic massage and that’s what I got.
I will say that the staff is exceptionally friendly and explained upgrades and membership options to me without being pushy and only at my request. I signed up for a membership so that I could go back. They also have hours outside of regular business hours, which is a huge plus for those who work anywhere in the 7 – 5 window.

I have been out of town for a long time and finally last week I made an appointment. I wanted someone who can do a deep tissue massage and she recommended Radian. I She was right. Radian was Perfect. Hit all of my problem areas, and her pressure was Perfect. Can’t wait to go back to Radian. Natasha was not there when I arrived, but another lady was, and she was also very friendly. I love Hand and Stone and I told my family about it and now they are very interested to join.

Great place, clean and well decorated. Carolina did a really great job. Staff is friendly and make for a pleasant experience.

I went in with a pain in my hip and back and was hopeful I would get some relief. Lorenzo did an amazing job. I cannot say enough about his skill and professionalism. He made me comfortable from the very beginning by asking questions about pressure and pain location. I walked out feeling like a new woman! While I was there I also got a facial from Mia and she was equally excellent. I never felt pressured to buy anything I didn’t want and the lady working the front desk was extremely nice. I found the facility to be clean and comfortable. Well worth it. I will return. Thanks to the great staff for my relaxing experience.

The deal you get at Hand and Stone is great but not $ 49.95 like another reviewer wrote; that’s just for the first one as an introductory price. After that, it’s $ 59.95 if you become a member (membership is free) per month for either a 50 minute massage or facial. I’ve only gotten the massages. I’ve been to this location three times and the spa is very clean and nicely decorated. I don’t, however, like how the products are by the seating area because if someone is looking at a product then they’re in the way of someone who needs to walk around them (or scoot by) when it’s their turn to see their massage therapist. This is something the management needs to work on as the other locations aren’t set up like this which makes it easier for clients.
The staff rotates and I’ve been told there are a lot of college students working at the front desk which explains why there is turnover with the front desk staff. For me, however, it’s the massage therapist that matters and at this location, Tara is the best. She is one of the best massage therapists I’ve had anywhere (not just a Hand and Stone). If you ask for light pressure, that’s exactly what you’ll get unlike with a lot of other massage therapist who will use a firm pressure despite their client asking for something else. Tara is also very good at working with the client and listens to their specific needs (e.g. soreness in one area of the body).
Hand and Stone carries some nice products which members get a 10% discount on. Finipil is one of my favorites as it helps reduce ingrown hairs after shaving, waxing, depilatories.
This location is very convenient as it’s in a strip mall near tons of restaurants and shops including a gas station and Kroger.
Tip: If you don’t like the massage therapist you get the first time, just tell the front desk staff that you’d prefer someone else next time. It might take a few sessions to figure out which masseuse is best for you but once you do, it will be worth it.

I started with a Groupon not long after they opened. Got a great facial and 1-​hour massage. Since then, I joined the membership program and have enjoyed another facial and several massages. It’s a good deal in my opinion — $ 49.95 per month for either a 1-​hour facial or a 1-​hour massage, plus discounted prices if you want to go more often than once a month.
I’m not into deep-​tissue or sports massage or anything too esoteric. I love a good Swedish massage with not-​too-​heavy pressure. And those hot stones!!! It is a small added cost for that, but SO worth it.
Yes, it’s a chain, but I’ve had good experiences there so far.
And, who doesn’t like being able to get a same-​day, after-​work, or Sunday afternoon massage?!?

I have been here twice and I couldn’t be happier with the service I received from this spa (for the price I’m paying). I have been to both a high end spa as well as the franchise ones and my experience at this one is more similar to the high end spa.
I love the calm and quiet atmosphere here. I always hate it when a spa is loud and you can hear everything that’s going on outside. How am i suppose to relax with that environment? I appreciate their professionalism and they never pressure me to purchase the membership, unlike the other chain massage places. I also love that they only have female masseuses; save me the trouble of having to ask.
As for the masseuses, the two I had were professional, knew what they were doing, and always check in with me to make sure the pressure is okay. From what I can see, most of the masseuses are young and have a lot of energy. They have plenty of muscle and energy to work out any knots you have :-)
As a side note, it is common practice that each massage lasts about 45 to 50 minutes. I’ve been to many massage places and that seems to be the norm.
If you want to make massage your regular routine and don’t want to pay much, this place would be a great option!

Living right off voss and San Felipe I had no choice but to get a membership to this place! For only $ 50 per month you get either one facial or massage, instead of paying 80+ and who doesn’t want to pamper themselves once a month?
First time I went I got a facial and LOVED it! The next time I went I switched it up a bit and got a massage, also pretty amazing! I kind of wasn’t happy with getting a male masseuse because I felt a little uncomfortable but regardless I return once a month.
As far as scheduling and staff it was super easy one day I walked in and got in working 15 min and the staff is super nice and helpful.
Definitely worth getting a membership if you live around one!

To summarize, I did not have a great experience at this spa, but I will be back in hopes that my next visit will be better since this location is not too far from me.
First off, I called and was able to get an appointment that day which was exactly what I was looking for. I paid for a 1 hour Swedish massage and for $ 15 bucks extra I added the foot massage which I was told is an extra 10 minutes of massage.
When entering the spa, it was very clean mad the lady At the front desk was very nice. Unlike other spas I’ve been to, they did not have or offer water with lemon or cucumber nor do they have a separate place to complete your paperwork that is a bit more tranquil than the crowded entry way (it was a bit crowded the day I went).
My appointment was for 3 o’clock (I arrived 10 min early) however I wasn’t taken to the back until 3:06. My massage didn’t start until 3:15 which my masseur vocalized himself so I was sure that since he noticed that, he was going to make sure that I still received my 1 hour and 10 min massage. I was mistaken.
My massage ended promptly at 4 o’clock…25 minutes less than what I paid for. I mentioned this to the front desk where they did offer $ 10 off of my next service.
The massage itself was only «ok» so I’m in no rush to go back, but I will update my review once I do.
