Because of my budget I came to this place 3 times. The first I got my hair cut by a woman who was very sick. Second my hair cut was uneven and took way to long to cut. Third I waited in line for 20 minutes, then they came up to me and asked if I could wait for the two men with appointments and I agreed seeing they are just men. It shouldn’t take so long. 40 minutes later and I’m still waiting on the first guy and there are no signs that she would be done any time soon. Very slow service. The hair cut qauality the first time wasn’t terrible but for the time you waste there I can go some where else for the same or better quality, just a little more expensive. But it’s worth it.

It should really read«Hair by Lily» since the masses flock over here to get their haircuts by her. Since Linda’s closed her cult like following have managed to find and follow her here… me included. She’s cut my son and my hair for nearly twenty years. The place is fairly clean. The prices are always great. i think I pay about $ 8 with tip and if I get shampoo then I’ll throw in about $ 10 – 12. She does a phenomenal job understanding your style and adjusting styles to the modern look. I’ve even brought friends over here to get their hair chopped by her. The only thing that is a bit annoying is some of the other ladies who get clearly upset with you when you walk in and say you’re their for Lilly and as a result they are not cutting… which means no tips or money. Another lady there got mad at me because I was at the front and going to sign in but she ordered me to go sit down after I told her I was their for Lilly. Til this day my friend who was with me brings this up to my other friends and says, «Do you remember when you got scolded and ordered by the Nazi Hair Dresser that told you to go sit down and you walked over sadly with your head down as if you did something wrong?» I reply, «You’re a $%#%%» I believe they take credit card but I’d recommend paying in cash so pulse out in advance.

Giving this place one star is a compliment. They are unsanitary, the«stylist» I got botched a simple buzz cut, covered me in clippings, didn’t ask before using hair products, and even tried to overcharge me. Using a pair of clippers I’m not used to, I buzz the back of my head, but slightly unevenly. I figure no big deal, I’ll just go to «Hair By Tony» since it’s on my way, and their business card shows pictures of various men’s buzzes and fades. This deceptively leads me to believe they’re capable of handling a simple buzz cut. I tell the woman at the counter that I’d like a men’s buzz cut to even out the back of my head. She excitedly agrees to do it. I sit in the chair and she puts the smock/coverup over me and ties up my longer hair. I should’ve immediately left when I saw other people’s hair everywhere and on all of the tools(hairbrush, comb, desk, clipper, floor) but I was in a hurry and(wrongly) assumed that a quick buzz cut should be no problem. It was abundantly clear that they do not regularly clean anything, aside from a sloppy sweeping job. She sprays only half of my head with water and starts with the clipper. I’m no hair stylist, but I’ve never heard/seen anyone repeatedly go over the same areas with a clipper in choppy back and forth motions. If that’s how she wants to do it, fine. After a while, it becomes clearer that she doesn’t know what she’s doing. The reason she keeps going over and over the same areas is because she’s clipping it unevenly and trying to fix what she’s continually messing up. She repeatedly takes the coverup off of me, changes her mind, then keeps clipping. She would eventually put the coverup back on, but it doesn’t matter anymore because now I’m coated in hair clippings. She also intermittently takes down my long hair, which looked fine when I walked in, and runs a dirty hairbrush through it. Now she’s made my hair frizzy. Without asking, she puts some hair product with strong fragrance in my longer hair. My eyes started burning because I’m allergic to it. She also randomly brushed and blow dryed my(already dry) hair she made frizzy, thus making it worse. What is she doing?! I see her pick up another bottle of hair product and tell her I don’t want any more products in my hair. She insists that she also trim the longer parts of my hair, and I have to tell her«no» at least 3 times. There’s no way I’m letting her butcher the longer parts of my hair when she wasn’t even competent enough to do a simple buzz cut. She spends over 30 minutes repeatedly messing up a simple buzz cut and cutting it even shorter to fix it, to the point that I am now nearly BALD. I’m late, and going to have to shower to get that hair product out of my hair as well as change my clothes since I’m covered in prickly hairs. I just want to get out of there. She has the gall to try to charge me $ 12 for a «women’s cut». I tell her that I asked for(and got a botched) men’s cut. She smiles and giggles, as though trying to overcharge me is some kind of game, then charges me an $ 8 «men’s cut» price. She doesn’t ring anything up, or give me a receipt, which only adds to this place’s sketchiness. I would’ve been better off just giving a clipper to a random stranger on the street and telling them to have at it. I’m completely baffled that a person that doesn’t know how to cut hair would be employed at a «hair salon»(if it can even be called such). Thanks to «Hair By Tony», I’ll have to get used to wearing hats until my hair grows out. The best part? When I call and ask to speak to the manager, I am promptly hung up on. I later find out from friends that a men’s cut here is $ 4. So she charged me DOUBLE.

I had my haircut at Tony’s yesterday, because Lily moved over here. Lily’s been cutting my family’s hair for more than 10 years now. She’s the best.

When Linda’s closed last month, my stylist Lily got orphaned over here. Nice little strip center, friendly service, and my new spot for fades.
