H&R Block

People tend to only take the time to write bad reviews. We’ve had nothing but good experiences with this H&R Block. Our goal is not to get back thousands from the government, but to pay our taxes and hopefully come out even. We’ve never felt the need to stay awake at night hoping we filed correctly, because we know we have. Melissa T has been nothing but efficient and patient (way patient), and we recommend her highly.

You know those commercials with the old man in a bow tie who says «get your billion back, America!»? He’s not talking about getting YOU a refund. He’s talking about THEM getting THEIR billion dollars by charging you an exorbitant amount to file your taxes.
We ended up paying $ 425 (you read that right!) which I was lucky enough to cover with my return. I will say they were no easy feat-​filing jointly for the first time, multiple moves and jobs-​it was a LOT of forms to fill out.
We made a point to set up an appointment with a tax preparer who had the most experience. Our appointment was 3 o’clock, her last of the day. That was good because it meant she could spend more time filing our taxes. Bad because she looked spent and we had to really pay attention to make sure everything was accurate.
My biggest complaint is that one of her coworkers here interrupted our appointment on multiple occasions asking for help with this and that and he did not apologize to us at all! Just «hey, can you come over here and help me with this? Can you sign that? What do I do here?» GAH! You, sir, are so obnoxiously rude! After nearly two hours sitting in one place under glaring florescent lights, I almost lost it.
Our tax prep. asked at the end of the appointment if we wanted to set up another one for next year. No.

I would like to start off by stating that the only reason I gave this one star was because I had to!
I called and made an appointment with this office the woman who helped me on the phone was great. We discussed my needs and we decided that a 2:00 pm. appointment on Friday, February 15, 2013 to see Mr. Patterson would be the best option for me. I arrived at the office at 1:50 for my 2:00 appointment. I was greeted by a nice young gentleman who checked me in, he explained that Mr. Patterson wasn’t in until 2:00 so he offered me coffee and water and showed me where I could wait. As I sit in the waiting area there is one man waiting as well. when he hears that I am going to see Mr. Patterson he says isn’t that who I am here to see as well? Then all of the people in the office being speaking Spanish in front of me and no one says anything to me.
Mr. Patterson arrives at 2:00pm The young man at the counter sends the man that was sitting opposite of me over to see Mr. Patterson. I then asked why no one had enough respect to explain the situation to me. I asked how long of a wait it would be they said 30 – 45 minutes. I explained that this was rude and I left. He did respond and say that the store manager wasn’t in and they needed to give that gentleman my spot.
*** Had someone had the respect to explain to me at 1:50 when I arrived that something had happened and asked me if I could move my appoint to 3:00. I probably could have gone and ran a couple of errands and come back. but the way the whole situation was handled was just wrong. I am truly disappointed with this company. This is my first time ever using H&R Block. and on top of it. I still need to get my taxes done. so my day off was wasted and I didn’t even get done what I needed to.
