Went here after eating at Tiger den so we were too full to order food. Ended up buying different beers to just hang out and experience it on a Thursday night. The crowd wasn’t too thick and they were mostly there for the game on the projector. I saw some games on the side(Jenga etc.) They don’t have bucket specials and there was a DJ that played when the game ended, but no dedicated dance floor. It’s pretty laid back. I asked the lady what type of beer the lucky Buddha was and she said«it’s a beer», then I asked if it’s an ale or a stout or how is it, and she said«it’s imported» lol. I thought that was funny. You have to watch what they bill you though. We got a beer upcharged to an imported price when it was a domestic beer, but let it go because it wasn’t that much anyway. I’d come back when it’s busier to see how fun it is then.

Strange at first but the more you come the more you’ll be addicted… I was never into Asian bars, I’m not sure why. Too many tattoos and mean mugs, but perhaps my perspective needed to change. My cousin actually introduced me to this location, I kept saying let’s go somewhere else for drinks, let’s go somewhere people won’t fight me. Yeah, my perceptions on Bellaire were totally off. I would find that the people here are some of the nicest you will find. There are people of all walks of life here and the staff has provided awesome and friendly service. Alright enough of personal stuff, let’s get to the nitty gritty. The good: Staff, lot’s of alcohol and pretty decent food. The bad: The bathroom needs a paper towel dispenser and… No beer on tap… :( Conclusion: If you want to check out an Asian bar you will definitely check this location out. I recommend getting the Nitro beer if you like stouts.

This place is so good. People hold mixers and get-together parties here all the time, and the food never disappoints. During busier hours(like late night), spots fill up quick. Giau has won my heart a thousand times over by the green tea noodles and chicken wings. There are some great non-alcoholic drinks, in addition to alcoholic stuff. For other food, I’m a huge fan of the peppery whelks and creamy, spicy coconut snails. During crawfish season, you should try a pound of those here. Avocado bomb, baked mussels, and fruit platters are notable, too. Their menu is so extensive, yet none of the dishes taste like they’ve been cooked in the same sauces. Very unique. Service is friendly and there’s plenty of parking. The only setback is that sometimes the music is crazy loud and you can’t hear.

Good food & good ambiance. We been coming here since they opened but review your bill because they tend to duplicate charges due to lack of communication among the waitresses.

Nice lounge in the heart of China town. The menu is interesting but pricey. I had the coconut snails which were good and two beers. $ 35. Unfortunately the service does not match the prices. The staff is young and really doesn’t care. They definitely paid more attention to their friends and regulars as others pointed out. After my first beer, the glass sat empty. They eventually took the glass away and didn’t bother asking if I wanted another. Meanwhile I got to hear who’s dating who and everyone’s weekend plans before I finally asked for another beer. That’s really unacceptable service IMO. I would have loved to try more food but the prices are discouraging and the service makes it difficult to return.

This is a great place to chill, especially on weekdays. They have all kind of drinks, and the foods are amazing. I ordered the combination fried rice thinking that might taste like typical Asian American restaurants but hell am I wrong, the fried rice was hella tasty! The waitress was extremely down to earth friendly. They have great music, all up-to-date hip-hops, R&bs and the trancrs and on weekends they have djs doing remixes. Come during the weekends if you need some space away from everything else. You’ll love this place. I’ve been to different bars and honestly this is out to be my favorite!

I’ve been here numerous times. Don’t mind the four stars it’s just I have not sampled every item from top to bottom. Different people different taste. If I had to judge then just on what I’ve eaten and the times I’ve been there then 5 all the way. Good service, music scene, good social gathering and no trouble yet so far I’ve seen. Worth a try and I believe daily specials and happy hour. Two complaints from my peers.1. The o e rack he had was dry. 2. Some of the oysyers look small. possibly out of season who knows. for sure though, we will revisit again. damn those cooking shows or people’s words changes our thought process… lol. We will be back and hungry for more. Food for thought!

Great place to watch the game, eat, drink & lounge. Music is great as well, all top hits played… Very hip but casual spot. The food was also great. We had ultimate fries(delish), calamari, shaggy dog, vampire Rosemary wings & a birthday concoction in a very large martini type of glass which was also tasty! My little sister turned 21& couldn’t finish it so I had to step in and help out… Super hard task lol!

Update: Today was the first day I came back in 2 years. I got here at 6pm. We had the avocado bomb, baby clams, manila clams, spicy calamari, seafood lomein. Avocado bomb was delis I had to order 2 Baby clams were decent, better than most places. Manila clams were on the salty side, but with a beer I think it’ll be great. Spicy calamari were a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best I’d give it a 5. Oil did taste a little old. Seafood love mein would be something that I would eat if I were to make a trip back. I think overall I enjoyed being here with less people and not so crowded and loud. Although both our sodas were flat, we were disappointed there were no sodas. On a day of 103 weather we were craving an ice cold fountain drink full of carbonation. But we are ok, we didn’t die. Hah! The service is good. I would come back but I would have to slowly work myself to come back at night time. Until then, evenings around 6pm should work superbly !!

I came with a friend, and of course saw some people we knew when we went inside. So we decided to join their table. We came on a Saturday night, and was told it was going to be really poppin’. There were definitely quite a few people there, but I’d say only half of the place was filled. Was told there were go-go dancers, but they weren’t there(not really bummed either haha). The DJ was playing lots of EDM, and of course, hip-hop. He even played trance for a good 15 minutes which I was happy about. However the music was way too loud to the point where my group and I had to move to another table to hear ourselves screaming at each other. Onto the food/drinks! We started out with some Saturday specials, which consisted of $ 5 bombs(jäger, snapple, skittle, irish car), $ 5 gyoza, and $ 15 lamb racks. The snapple and skittle bombs were definitely the fruity ones and barely tasted any alcohol in it. So if you want to get a little more wasted, you should probably opt for something harder. We also got the lamb racks, and for $ 15, it came with 4 pieces. My friends who were here before ordered a few dishes and said nothing was great. It was not worth and I would suggest eating before coming here because the food is not that great for the price. Later on we asked for a deck of cards and decided to play some games and order sake bombs. This was when the party got started haha. You definitely want to come here in a group of 4 or more. Drinks were okay, there’s nothing super special here. Wait staff was hit or miss depending on who you ask but for the most part nothing too bad. Don’t expect like out of this world service though. They also automatically add 18% gratuity to your check!

GiAu is a pretty good place to come by to pregame or even if you want to «go out & drink,» without really, actually going out. The place is pretty casual, but you’ll also see some people dressed to go out. They have daily specials, so be sure to check that out on the glowing black board they have. Their food is actually pretty good, but most people will overlook it because they’re here specifically to drink. My personal favorites are the fries and fish sauce wings. & if you’re looking for a non-alcoholic drink, get the strawberry coconut!

Decent food, very strange crowd on a Wednesday night. I stopped by with some friends for my first quick meal in Houston. The drinks were very good and we also enjoyed an avocado bomb, which as unexpectedly good, and a run-of-the-mill frozen calamari appetizer. Our server was often preoccupied with flirting with the 2 or 3 mostly-all men other tables, so service was often slow. I’d probably wait until it was busier to bother going back.

Came here at 11pm on a Wednesday night for a quick bite after we picked up a friend from HOU airport. We ordered a few drinks and snacks. I highly recommend their avocado bomb. It’s a delicious mixture of avocado, tobiko, crab, and sauce. Their calamari was pretty solid, but nothing memorable. Our waiter was really nice, but she seemed more interested in flirting with the guys at the table next to us, so service was sometimes a bit slow. Furthermore, their tables were arranged very weirdly such that you have to maneuver through a maze to get anywhere. Props to them for being open super late on a weekday, though. That’s always a huge plus.

I’m probably gonna catch a lot of heat for this review update but. not gonna lie, the last few times I’ve been here the service fcking blows. I don’t know if they’re understaffed or what but it’s real annoying. How about hiring some qualified waitresses? All I want to do is order some damn food and drinks and get my tab and GTFO! Ain’t nobody got time to stay here for hours waiting on food and the tab. This probably explains why I’ve only been back 2 – 3 times in the past year. I’ve been a customer since this place opened, and have noticed that the prices have gone up and the service has gone down. Prices are as competitive as Midtown and Washington area. PS: I am referring to the servers, not the bartenders. The bartenders are usually on top of their game. So if you want speedy and attentive service, sit at the bar. Last time I came here, after several failed attempts of trying to track down our waitress, I had to make my way from the table to the bar to close out my tab. That should give you an idea of how annoyed I was of waiting.

this place was jammin with a Dj spinnin EDM, it was crowded, and we were immediately taken care of by a sweet girl. usually people come here to pre-game and eat before heading to the club was what I was told that night and it’s def believable. Friday nights here or I think Saturday have go-go dancers …(right? yeah I know). but anyways, enough about the atmosphere. cocktails are pretty good here from what I hear and they also have this cool cocktail that they serve up in a half shell watermelon, Watermelon Soju. tastes exactly like watermelon yet it def creeps up on you, so don’t be fooled people. we ordered the ultimate fries and the pork belly taco which is uh-maaaazzzzinggggggg! the pork belly tacos are stuffed with a sunny side egg, pork belly, avocado, some pico de gallo all stuffed in a Roti wrap. omg genius right. so good! I def would come back again. the only thing I didn’t like was that towards the end our server was needed and when I got up to find her she was sitting down getting ready to drink. I felt bad for interrupting but we really bad to go.

Super friendly bar staff! Give shout out to my girl Tracy! Sweet, beautiful, funny and accommodating! 5 star service by her and the other staff. The only reason I took away a star is bc I feel drinks and food are a bit pricy. A mix drink is roughly $ 10. But they do have daily specials. Avocado bomb is good, crawfish is surprisingly tasty! If you like the garlicy flavor then definitely try their crawfish. Ambiance is chilled although the music is loud it isn’t annoyingly loud you can still hold a conversation. Overall my friend and I had a great time! Even did a oyster shooter for the first time. Loved it! I’ll be back!

While I’m usually opposed to leaving 1 star for any establishment, I have to for this place. It seems the food has gone downhill from when it first opened as our food not only came out mediocre, we also had to WRITEDOWNON A PIECEOFPAPER for our waitress who seemed to not even possess a single brain cell as she could not seem to comprehend what we were saying. That should have been a warning for us not to place our order from her. An hour later, our food starts to arrive. Well, 1 of the 10 items did anyway. More arrived eventually. As we continue to wait another 30 minutes after the 6th item arrived we finally inquired about the 4 other missing items. Apparently she didn’t take it down but lied to us and said its coming. We see her run to go place it then. The kimchi fries that others rave about. Not that good. Bo tai Chanh wasn’t either. The clams were disgusting and was like dry gritty sand in my mouth. I did enjoy my strawberry jelly drink, but that’s about it. What really made this a «memorable» experience was when one of our friends gave the clueless waitress his credit card to pay the tab. After what seemed like another eternity, we had to track the waitress to ask where his card was. She then goes to locate it and then comes back to tell us she doesn’t have it and blatantly accuses one of us girls that we stole his credit card. Uhh, no. By then we were about to flip our table because this nit wit just made a very angry group even angrier. I know she did not just accuse us of stealing when we just managed to not walk out on this place and not pay at all for this crappy experience and food. My advice, make sure your waitress can spell and understand what you are saying. I speak both English and Vietnamese, she understood neither.

Maybe I’m getting old but I just can’t deal with extremely loud music. I was forced to come in one night just cause my friends wanted to get drinks and of course Giau was right around the corner. We walked in and the moment I stepped foot into the door, my ears were just bleeding of extremely loud club music. I just couldn’t handle it. If I wanted to go to a club then I would have done so. You basically can’t hear the people at your table talking to you because you have to yell or really speak the hell up to have a conversation. It was kind of annoying to be honest. The service is terrible. Awful. We sat ourselves down at the table and there was only 2 servers. We waited about 20 minutes to get served and eventually, I got up from the booth and flagged someone down to get a menu. Even after we got served, our waiter was hanging out with his friends in the booth behind us. It was frustrating cause he was laughing with his friends and smoking a vapor. The only reason I’ll give Giau 2 stars is because of their food. I love their food. From their appetizers to their entrees to their drinks. Definitely love the fries as well as their papaya salad. That’s pretty much the only thing I can rave about Giau, is their food.

The only reason why I come here is for their ice tea and food other than that it’s not my type of scene. These are my favor dishes at Giau bar. Taco — omg, it left me speechless because the stuffing was flavorful, tasteful and the tortilla was crispy yet soft. Taro nachos — The best part is the taro chips itself crunchy and addictive. I love it that they used the taro chips to spice up traditional nachos. Wings — hmmm their basil and fish sauce wings are delicious but a little salty. It’s best to eat with rice. Shaken beef — flavorful, tender and moist

My friends love coming here because of the quick bites and casual atmosphere; I’m never the one to decide to come here, but it’s a nice little stop to pregame at before heading elsewhere. The bartenders and waitresses are nice and attentive. The dancers are what makes this place awkward, and the music is extremely loud. I always find myself screaming across the table. Mm but the fries are good :) & they also have interesting drink specials!
