We have Italian Comfort food, hand-​tossed brick oven Pizza, mouthwatering seafood and Healthy entrees that satisfy your mind and body. We have a gluten free menu available, as well. Just ask!

Our wine list boasts inexpensive, tasteful wines for your mid-​week family meals and unique, indulging wines for that special occasion.

George’s will come to you. We cater 6 to 600. Schools love us for their large events because we offer delicious and reasonably priced catering.

History

Established in 1987.

We recently reached a milestone of 25 years!

George (the owner) moved from New York to Texas and could not find a casual Italian Restaurant with good food. After graduating from Baylor, he worked at many restaurants before opening his first George’s Pastaria on corner of Richmond and Fondren. We have been through several incarnations since then and in 2005 opened our true «neighborhood restaurant» on Dairy Ashford. We have many, many customers and their children who have been eating with us for 25 years. George, and his wife, Rene, look forward to serving you a friendly meal in our cozy dining room. You will likely run into your friends… we do!

Welcome to George’s. I helped George open the restaurant over 26 years ago! What a ride!

I take care of the wine list for the restaurant and I am happy to help you select a wine to enjoy with your dinner. My favorite thing is to find unique and attractively priced wines to add to our wine list. I like to introduce our patrons to new regions, varietals and wineries that they have never experienced before. When my customers love them… it is the highlight of my day!

This restaurant is really hit or miss. The potato leek soup is fantastic. But the lasagna was dry, and the marinara is only ok. Worse yet, they have no freshly grated cheese in this place, just pre-​grated cheese, like the kind from the green can. When asked about this, the owner was pretty rude. He said his employees don’t have time. WTF?! This is not exactly Cici’s pizza, you are charging real money for your items and you can’t bear to finish it with some cheese that actually tastes like something? After the waiter told me the «cheese product» is from a box, George told me his staff are all liars and he grates it in the back. Are you kidding me?! This stuff isn’t even remotely fresh, and what kind of person tells a customer that your staff are all liars?
So sad that some of the food is really good, and the rest is just not that great. The servers are really nice, and seem to be doing the best they can with what they have to work with. Give them more to work with George, and try to at least pretend that you like or at least value your staff and customers!

I would definitely give this place no stars if I could. Anyways, I came here with my gf, brother and some friends after we kept hearing all the rave reviews from our coworkers about this place a few weeks ago. We walked and got seated quick. I think this was the only good thing about this place because after that we waited and waited and still on one came to even asked for our drinks. There were a bunch of waiters (mainly kids) standing behind us chit chatting the entire time. I’m not the one that will call upon a worker to get some service, especially if they’re just standing around and know that new customers just walked in. I took out my phone and put it on the timer for 15 more mins. Long and behold, no one came! It was 20 minutes that we just sat there looking stupid while other tables were getting served. Now I’m not into pulling the racist card or anything but we were the ONLY table that weren’t Caucasian there. I’m hopping it wasn’t the reason since it was 2015 and its Houston. So when the timer went off we just got up and left. I turned and looked at the excuse for a waitstaff. They just looked at us shocked that we just got and started to leave. As we walked out my gf spoke to one of the workers, an older clean cut gentlemen that could have possibly been the manager, assistant manager or owner. I’m not to sure but he did look like he had authority of some sort. He apologized and asked if we could stay and the dinner would be on the house. I told him sorry but I rather pay for «some» service than take a free meal from a place that obviously does not want to serve us. We left and went to Russo’s. Never would I recommend this place to anyone. I don’t care how good the food is. There is always someplace better.

Amazing! Been here at least 4 times, we’ve always tried different things and they never disapoint! Their pizza is delicous, so are they’re salads, and dont get me started about their pastas!!! Seriously a must try if love italian food!

I heard many excellent reviews and wanted to try this place out.
Cons:
–The garlic bread while good tasted store bought. I would have preferred homemade bread with some olive oil, herbs, etc on a plate.
-$ 10 corkage fee. I completely understand restaurants need to make money, but it’s a little on the steep side.
–I didn’t care for my entrée which was off the menu. My meal was lukewarm but I didn’t want to make a big deal about it. I didn’t feel too well later in the evening at home. I honestly think the taste overall was just not there.
–A mosquito repellent of some sort. Even though it was comfortable outside my party were bitten by Mosquitos.
With that being said I would MAYBE come back to try the pizza but would not likely come out of my way to do so.

It’s good to have a neighborhood Italian restaurant that serves tasty dishes. We’ve frequented this place many times over the past 10 years or so. We re-​discovered it a month ago and ate there 2 Tuesdays in a row. Their food has improved quite a bit. On one of those nights, we ate fast and furious because there was a line of people wanting to eat. Also, our server kinda wanted us to go after we ate because they picked up our dishes pretty fast. We understood, it’s a family restaurant and plenty of families were getting dinner.
No matter, it’s an accessible restaurant for us to go for good Italian food. We will go back there again.

Oh my goodness! Another favorite Italian restaurant of mine. I had an early dinner with my boyfriend. I love everything here. Service is quick and staff are super nice.
We ordered fried calamari for our appetizer. For our entrée I ordered Penne Rene & my boyfriend ordered the Rigatoni Campagnolo. While we waited for our food. They gave us hot crispy buttery garlic bread. YUM!!! I love their fried calamari, it was crispy and cooked perfectly. The marinara dipping sauce was amazing with the fried calamari.
My Penne Rene skinless breast chicken dipped in an egg wash & sautéed with scallions, marinara, cream, topped with feta cheese & fresh basil. The chicken was moist and tender. The marinara sauce is so perfect. I also love the fresh basil touch.
My boyfriend had the Rigatoni Campagnolo imported rigatoni pasta with mild Italian sausage, peppers in a ricotta tomato sauce, with goat cheese and fresh basil. He ate it all. He loved it too.
The dinner portion is just right. But since I filled my tummy with all their delicious bread I had to to-​go half of my dinner. Yay lunch for tomorrow!
Additional information I wanted to share. Lunch is served until 3pm. They cater! You can bring your own wine. No corkage fee Monday-​Wednesday. $ 10 corkage fee Thursday– Saturday.

Dinner is a little pricey but meh italian everywhere is.

It is hard to describe exactly how good it was to be back to George’s.
If anything his food has gotten better and better over the years he has been in this location. The service here is better than good, everyone from the bus boys to the owner always come by to make sure your needs are taken care of.
Penne Rene is to die for, fantastic sauce that brings out the flavor in the chicken and is highlighted by the cheese just starting to melt over the pasta, perhaps one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had from Italy or anywhere in the world.
Sauteed muscles in white sauce are so succulent you want to suck their shells and it is all you can do to not pick up the bowl and slurp the sauce up when your done, and heaven forbid you run out of garlic bread to dip in it (which you won’t with the service).
The pizzas are a great rounding out of the menu and are a super airy and crispy crust with a fantastic and flavorful sauce that not only the kids but adults will love to dive into.
The wine selection is extensive and runs from inexpensive but good house wines to some very nice selections of more pricey wine.
if your on the west side of Houston in the Energy Corridor you owe it to yourself to stop in and try Georges.

Went there last Saturday and was disappointed. The waiter was very «casual» in shorts and in attitude. Made us feel uncomfortable instead in welcomed. He didn’t write down our order so he forgot something. My food was not hot so he microwaved it and heated it up so much the dish turned to stone. He seemed like it was an imposition to serve us. He got irritated when he tried to take a plate away and I asked to keep it. And looked really irritated when we asked for separate checks (there were only two of us)
Food was just okay so we won’t be back.

Get the Rigatoni Campagnolo. It is soooo amazingly deliciously good! The tomato based creamy wine sauce, italian sausage, tomatoes, and pepper were cooked really well. The garlic bread is soft, crunchy and topped with olive oil. Went together really well with the pasta.
The portions are really big and price is very reasonable. The service was really good. We constantly had our water and bread refilled. Someone came to our table to check in on how the food was.
Overall loved the food and service. You can bring your own wine bottle with no corking fee from Monday-​Wednesday. Would definitely come back again!

We were a party of 9 visiting for our 1st time on 10÷31÷13. We were really satisfied with the level of service we all received. The attention was superb, the prices were well adequate for the awesome level of quality food. Many plates on menu can be made vegan too so this is a huge plus for me and my family.
My family and I will be definitely visiting more often now.
My only complaint «to myself» was not visiting sooner!
The best part of eating here is that your money stays local supporting non-​franchise establishments.

Well, we ordered something that has traditionally been on the menu to-​go — Pork Tenderloin done Marsala style. Once there was confusion regarding the order we said we would call back. We confirmed that it was no longer on the menu. However, when we called back we were told they could complete the order and all was good. My wife went to pick up the order and not thinking this was McDonald’s and we had to make sure your order was complete, paid and left the establishment. The order was prepared incorrectly. The pork was prepared parmesan style.
She went back to the establishment and waited for the order to be made again and left the establishment. In regards to the error, she was told by the owner that employees would be trained and leave once they «graduated High School» and she should check her order.
Feel a bit annoyed with this customer service «advice» I called to speak with the owner who told her this.
Once connected, I started to tell him that these sort of issues were not really our problem, and I was cut off.
Once I called back, the person who answered the phone said he was now unavailable and we should go elsewhere. He then picked up the line, and said that I had no idea what a day he had, and the we should take our F&*cking business elsewhere.
What?
I at no time raised my voice, cursed or was even able to present what I thought would we an acceptable resolution.
Apparently, this business owner either needs a long vacation or new meds. I am thinking the later…
Update: we will be disputing the charge (gratuity only) as my wife left a gratuity, which obviously should be reversed considering the owners attitude.

Came for lunch. Their lunch menu is affordable, and their portions are huge and amazing. Their sauce is well made, and they bring you garlic bread when you first sit down.
I had the pasta with sausage and it was great! My coworkers like it and we will probably go back as they are healthy, delicious portions that taste like mom’s pasta.

Let me just preface this review by saying that the dish I had was INCREDIBLE! The Rigatoni Campagnolo was superb and I’d wholeheartedly recommend it. I’ve had the honor and privilege of dining at some of the best Italian restaurants in the country, and George’s seems like it can hold it’s own in the marketplace So, why the 3 star review you say? And what brought me to George’s Pastaria in the first place? Well, I was in the Alief area and I was craving some Italian, so I figured I’d check Unilocal for some suggestions on where to grub. Hence, this review! Now let me address why George’s is only getting 3 stars.

My waiter never ONCE asked me how anything was tasting. NOT ONCE! Sorry, but isn’t that one of the first steps of customer service as a server? Anywho, my server was just really really bleh. I asked him what the daily specials were, he told me, and then when I asked him for the price of each respective special… he got flustered and annoyed. Well… EXCUSE ME SIR, I thought I had the right to know how much I would be paying for my food. Guess that luxury isn’t available until you receive the bill. Even after I was done with my dish the server hardly spoke to me. Shame shame shame! Anywho, George’s Pastaria, solid food, lackluster service. It’s a shame too since they brag about being around for years and caring so much about their customers. I guess that doesn’t apply to new faces and out of towners :/

We are lucky to have this local family place in our neighborhood. It is a small Italian joint with great food and a great staff! Fancy enough inside for an intimate special dinner for two or with friends and casual enough for little league team victories :)
The food is very good here. On a recent visit, I tried the Chicken Angelina, which was a chicken breast stuffed with spinach, prosciutto and cheese, dressed with a portobello mushroom sauce and a side of pasta marinara. It was delicious!
We had a bottle of the a montepulciano with our meal… perfecto!
