We had the crab soup, spicy clams and the Lobster in ginger and green onions. The soup was fantastic. The lobster was great as was the rice it was cooked on. The clams were ok, but too many other options so probably won’t order again. Those wondering FuFu Resteraunt vs. FuFu café, the resteraunt is your choice if you want seafood and or have a larger party. Otherwise the Café is probably better. Didn’t have this time but the dumplings are great as are many of the other dishes, we just didn’t order them this time.

I know people like to compare Fu Fu Restaurant to the café nearby. We ended up at the restaurant because it has more space and would be more baby-friendly for my dining companions with little ones. It ended up being a great experience! The food was great. We shared four dishes, including the France-style Tofu, flat rice noodles, some greens, and the salt toasted ribs. The tofu and greens were great veggie options for the vegetarian in our group. All delicious and we basically licked our plates clean! A great alternative to Fu Fu Café. Same food, but more space. And the salt toasted ribs are bigger(more meat). YUM.

We ordered combination hotpot and wanted to make it spicy, the waitress said it will be $ 10 extra for spiciness(ridiculous) so we just had it regular. When they brought out the hotpot, I was so shocked because the broth had only green onions and onions plus it was tasteless, I must say that. It was about 9 and the restaurant was not busy, after they brought out hotpot, they didn’t serve us but other tables. I know that my attitude showed to them that I wasn’t satisfied how the foods look but I would expect them to ask us «how’s everything going», it’s a basic service in the restaurant. We ended up just ate the meats except the broth(tasteless) I would not recommend the hotpot to everyone wants to try, SERIOUSLY!!! Try some different dishes instead.

I had heard about this restaurant and decided to give it a shot today, given that I had a few hours this afternoon plus I was craving for some noodles and rice plates. First impressions, the place itself appears to be somewhat elegant, with a ridiculously large traditional Chinese painting, Chinese illustrations on walls left and right side of the walls. And this large not so beautiful seafood aquarium and the fridge of all the appetizers for takeout or eat in, surely was something to look at. I was not sure if it si because today’s New Year’s Eve, but the counter was filled with 3 stories high full of styrofoam lunch boses, utentsils and chocksticks, and all the dirty dishes over the table, as if a stampede of people just went through, given it was 2:30pm in the afternoon. 7 or 8 of the bus boys each carried a bucket with dirty dishes, rags and so forth, cleaning after the tables, which really was an eye sore that took up more the 3 quarters of the restaurant, given that this place only had no more than 16 tables with 6 – 12 per persons per table. I don’t think the waiter or the manager knew or cared much about the customers. I sat there for a good 5 minutes in front of the counter where people make payments and the nasty phone where the manager spent ¼ the time I was there on taking orders for pick up and takeout, until she glared at me and spoke to me in Cantonese. I spoke back to her in English and said, «What? No, I am eating in here.» Just about the same time when she provided me with this 50 page looking heavy duty leather business like menu. Speaking of the menu, it must have at least 200 items on there, ranging from appetizers, Chinese dumplings and noodles, clay pot casseroles, beef, chicken, seafood, venison and lamb pus soups with drinks, makes me wonder how big the pantry and food storage space is, because there is no way they could cook everything fresh to order with a menu that size. Then this waitress stood there staring at me as I was looking over the menu, until I told her to step away so I could look at the menu. Once my order was taken by a different waiter, my appetite was already gone. I ordered a cold sliced vegetables appetizer with a bowl of beef noodles. The dish was so big, bigger than my head for sure, but the vegetables tasted like it was saturated with vinegar and no crunch to it, which was surprising to me that there is nothing other than the smell of garlic in the dish. Noodles was probably the best part, at least they hand made the noodles, texture was solid and good, and meat was tender and not too greasy to my liking. On top of that, they gave me chipped plates, which makes me wonder why they didn’t have plates with no broken edges given the size of the menu and quantity of people entering. Best part of the day was the pricing of food, I was given more than the quantity that I would like, and I paid $ 12 dollars, which was not bad for the food quantity despite the quality of one of the dish was under par. They appear to be generous about giving me lunch boxes to take the leftover home, but by the time I have seen the waiter cleaning the tables and wiping down plates and having dirty plate trucks swiveling around me. One thing I can say is, this place is just overrated. I would be more than happy to pay a more if the food quantity and quality is in better control.

My boyfriend took me here on a business trip… It’s so good! We got General Tsao’s which was large nicely fried pieces of chicken in a thick sauce(wish it was a touch spicier!) and the green beans with pork. Don’t miss out on the green beans!!! SOGOOD! We also got the pork buns for an appetizer and they were delicious. I’m so happy I got to eat dinner here tonight! Plus, the staff was very friendly and attentive… Great experience overall!

This place was pretty good when it first opened, riding on the success of the sister restaurant. Not anymore. I get food poisoning whenever I’m forced to eat here with family. Food is either extremely bland or overseasoned. Also, this location jacked up their prices compared to the regular FuFu’s café. However, the food is exactly the same. Service is slow and impatient. Expect to have to fight to get your order in, and to have to fight to get your order right. It can be extremely packed and noisy. Expect a wait if you come here during peak times. There is also a corking fee if you bring your own booze which is not typical for Chinatown but also not unreasonable. Also, I have first hand seen them cooling huge trays of food down on top of a dumpster behind their restaurant.

Came here a few days ago and thought the food was pretty good. The place was packed and I think the waitstaff might have been overwhelmed. They weren’t bad but they weren’t great. We ordered a noodle, greens beans and a ribs dish. Portions were a good sized and prices were decent. I wouldn’t mind going back.

Your typical Chinese restaurant in Bellaire, cramped, dirty and with an extensive menu that could easily be a chapter book. Options are good but when it’s to that extent, it just takes people a lot longer to pick. Salty fish fried rice. Emphasis on the salt. Good portion size, but I would not order this again. I don’t like to guzzle my water that much.(3⁄5) General tso: large chunks of deep fried chicken, drenched in sauce. Hard to go wrong with General tso’s!(5⁄5) Sautéed beef: tender beef and lots of onions. Probably half of the dish were onions but I’m not complaining. I love onions!(4⁄5) This weird fish in oil item, not sure of the name. The best way to describe it is that it consists of lettuce and some kind of white fish in an oil soup. Yes, oil soup. My goodness, I could not take a bit without trying to wipe off as much oil as possible. I felt my arteries clogging with every bite. The fish also had a weird texture but the flavor wasn’t too bad. I would not get this again.(2⁄5) Would I come back? Sure. Though I need to make sure not to order highly salty items since the servers don’t come by often to refill your water.

We now come here often for late night bites: what’s better than congee and buns and other deliciousness at midnight! It closes at 2am and we always leave stuffed and happy. Highly recommend egg tofu with mushroom and any kind of congee. And the buns and other specialty dishes at the back. Actually I enjoyed almost all the dishes I tried and highly encourage you to try:)

Love that this place opens until 2. The food served here is pretty great. Would prefer going here than somewhere like Kim Son. I recommend their Salted Fried Tofu, general tso chicken, and fried chicken wings(Super good). The service here is inconsistent. Sometimes I get stuck will really good service, and other days i have to ask around 5 times until they refill my water. This place is for my late night munchies, come and try it!

Their food is top-notch. Their setup and customer service may be lacking, but I was taking my food to-go anyways. I ordered the salt-toasted tofu. I wanted to replace the white rice with maybe brown rice or other vegetables because I am not a big fan of empty calories. Sadly, this was not an option. I did take a bite of the white rice once I got home. I even put some sauce on it. No good. I had to throw it away because my stomach told me «You’re going to regret eating this stuff.» On to the positives. The salt-toasted tofu is incredible! Although I would have preferred some sort of sauce like lemongrass sauce, I was able to make my own sauce. They did give me a good number of tofu bits, so they get five stars on portions. Perhaps I should come a few more times to get a better feel of the place, but it seems like they specialize in large portion sizes. No real vegetables with this, but I added lettuce to my food once I got home. As you can tell, there was some lacking on options. On the other hand, they deliver what they say they do. I was out of here in what seemed like less than 10 minutes. For late night food after you leave the bar/club, I would recommend to-go orders for everyone.

Our experience eating here a couple times has been better than the average complaints I’ve seen in reviews. Once thing that may be part of the confusion is that people are getting Fu Fu Restaurant and Fu Fu Café mixed up, which is understandable, because they’re both in the same dang shopping center! Anyhow, Fu Fu Restaurant is the one facing Bellaire blvd. on the first floor and has a slightly slower pace compared to the bustle of the café, but only slightly. This place still gets packed and the wait can be painful at peak times. That being said, they were accomodating enough to save a table for our 12 top for my birthday which is a big niceness for a place that has maybe 10 tables. Service is similar to other dining experiences in the area. You have to flag your server down here and there but for the most part, they have always been very accommodating and helpful. Food is very good. Notables are of course their soup dumplings, fried dumplings, and various hot pot plates. Beyond that, there’s a thick menu with pictures to cruise through. We’ve tried a large portion of the options and haven’t been disappointed yet.

Ate lunch there with invited friends. I ate lunch here a lot — but this was not a good day! I have decided not to go back again. I can find better, somewhere cleaner, less crowded, better service, faster delivery, and for same price. Service — well, since we were not Asian, the service was shit! Table dirty — gross & grease & food residue under the table was gross. Bathroom– EKS! I was scared to go that way. My friend had sanitizer, thank God. I would hate to see the damn kitchen. Had to get up four times: 1) get menu, 2) get more napkins(my friend called them tissue paper) 3) get to-go boxes, 4) to get check corrected & waited to pay. Overall Rating — Poor! Table wet, dirty, greasy when seated. Had to get napkins to clean up from table next to us. Server forgot our egg rolls. Brought out one dish at time(not in any particular order) Took over two hours to get seated, order, eat, and walk out the door. At lunch, that is too long. Final note: PARENTS! Do not bring your children to a public restaurant during what is normally NAPTIME! I NEVER took my kids out during nap time! NEVER! I went after nap time. It makes it miserable for everyone else around you when you allow your child to scream, kick feet, and whale bloody murder because they are tired and the noise is keeping them awake! Loud screaming kid at the table next to us — squealed so loud it made the meal terrible. The more they tried to settle that brat, the more he kicked his feet & screamed. OMG! DONOTEATHEREIFYOUAREIN A HURRY! Food’s great, service is shit. Even a TOGOORDER is slow as hell.

My family and I decided to give this place a try after years of not coming. We came here when it first opened and the food was decent enough. But just like everything else, brand new places often times dwindle down as time goes by. With this restaurant, its definitely the food that suffered the most. We ordered fish maw soup with crab meat. When it came out we noticed while there was fish maw and egg in it, there were no crab meat to be seen. When we asked the waitress if they got the order wrong, she had the audacity to tell us that the order is correct and this is what we ordered, the crab meat is cut so small that its invisible but it is in there. Can you believe that? I mean I could have eaten a filet mignon in the soup, but its invisible too. After she said that, our family finished up the rest of what we ordered without any satisfaction. The best thing at dinner was probably its white rice. Stay away, go around the corner to Fu Fu’s café.

I thought this was just going to to be some hole in the wall Chinese food spot but lesson learn don’t assume! I came for a late night dinner after a business meeting with some colleagues to celebrate my birthday. It was cool they stay open til 2am to account for all the late night drunk people who still want a good meal. We ordered vegetarian Singapore noodles, salt and pepper shrimp, and a shiitake mushroom dish with lotus roots. Everything came out piping hot and full of flavor and wasn’t too salty which I enjoyed. The shrimp was crispy enough where we can eat the whole shrimp even with shell on. It was only one lady waiting on us while also tidying up the place since it was around midnight or 1am on a Wednesday. I will definitely come back and try more dishes!

On a torrential stormy night… my friends and I were looking for something Asian to eat, we had every intention on driving to Sinh Sinh when my friend said this place had good soup dumplings… and this was an option«if I wanted to try something new…» so after asking him a few questions and he suggested he bring out a menu(to the car); he had to leave his credit card with them which he thought was hilarious… So we decided on this place. My friends thought my repeated suggestion on getting fried rice was boring but it was BYFAR, the best dish we had… sometimes the simplest food are the best and seriously, I just knew the cook back there knew how to make a mean fried rice. We also ordered the flat noodle with beef and greens; I asked them to go easy on the sauce, but the noodles were still swimming in it(so I picked at it but didn’t touch it much)… either the cook just ignored my request or he thought I didn’t know how to eat it properly… the snow pea leaves wereyummy; could have used more garlic but it’s a generous portion for the price. The pickled mustard green pork soup was disappointing. The waitress told me not to get it because it was usually just what Chinese customers ordered, so I replied, «Well, I’m Vietnamese, does that count for something?» and she said, «Yes but you mix right?» … I told her my mom made this soup all the time… but yeah, the broth smelled too strongly of pork, the mustard greens were hardly pickled and overall, the broth wasn’t clear or tasty, I would pass on this… Soup dumplings; the paper was too thick and the pork was so finely grounded it started to look like mystery meat and the broth was bland. This place has an extensive menu and I’m sure they are known for some things… it being my first time here, I would dare to say, fried rice is usually one of the winners here.

Fu Fu Restaurant’s cooking will not fail me every time I go; only some of the dishes are way too salty that I have to tell the wait staff when I ordered that«easy on the salt» The only concerns will be its service. Sometimes they will skip seating customer even your name is on the waiting list ahead of others because they do not have hostess, the wait staff will just came to ask«how many on your party?» and start seating. if you signed your name and decided to wait outside the restaurant, good luck… My favor soup is Hot and Sour Soup. very classic and tasty. My favor noodle is the garlic clear noodle(this is cold dish) My favor dishes are Walnut Chicken and Walnut Shrimp. The menu are similar with its sister restaurant Fu Fu Café which just right on the corner within same plaza but here is more pricy but the dining environment is more pleasant. Enjoy your dishes… Yummy

Via looking at pictures, walnut shrimp looks pretty good, Service is poor they will not refill your water! I repeat THEYWILLNOTREFILLYOURWATER. Salted tofu lacked favor, and looked better in pictures on menu and previous uploaded photo. Spicy tender beef noodle –broth good, meat was tender but only three pieces of meat. Beef noodle –taste perfect with Siracha IF you need something flag them down they’re going to cater to larger tables rather than yours. Enjoy folks They also take visa and mc.

I’ve never had an issue with Fufu’s until tonight. This place is getting ridiculous, I understand service in China town is terrible but this is getting out of hand. I came here with three people, as we were seated my table was only given two menus. I looked over at their register to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were short of menus. Nope. I saw a large sad stack of menus just waiting to be read. Sadly their hopes & dreams might not ever be realized. The waiter then proceeds to ask me what do you want. Well I would know if I had a menu. While everyone else at the table was eagerly looking at their menus, I politely asked the waiter if may I please have a menu. The waiter gave me the most atrocious look as if I had offended him some sort of audacious question. I apologize that you did not pass your elementary school math class & are unable to comprehend that 3 people at a table = 3 menus. I ordered a large lobster, & asked the market price. The waiter then informed me 16.99 is the market price for lobsters. I said that’s fine, I want a 4lb lobster. The waiter looked irritated & cannot be bothered. They fished out a lobster that looked about 4 lbs, okay. They never weighed the lobster in front of us, just told us that it was 3.8lbs. I said that’s fine. Finally when the lobster came out it was fine but seemed like they skimmed out some lobster pieces from us, at this point I was just hungry. After finishing dinner(by the way we had several other dishes as well), the charge on the bill was 19.99/lb for the lobster. I showed the waiter the bill, confused as to why I was charged 19.99 when he clearly said 16.99 was the market price. He made up some excuse oh well that’s the price for small lobsters, since your lobster was big it’s 19.99. Before we could say anything else he rushed off to another table without any further explanation or apology. Um, okay? I am used to the terrible service in China town, I’ve even had to chase down waiters for a glass of water but this? This is getting ridiculous. I am never coming to Fufu’s ever again. Happy new years Fufu’s I’m taking you off my list of restaurants for 2015. I will take my business elsewhere.
