I drive by this place all the time on the way to work. Woke up a little early to try it out and WOW. Amazing food, excellent service. Definitely coming back.

This place is amazing! It’s the closet thing you’ll get to a Waffle House type place herein the loop the only bummer is that it’s not open during the weekend.

This is one of those spots in the historic 5th ward that you could drive by and think it was closed, and it has been closed for years. The best way to describe this food is real southern cooking. Restaurant is in a really unassuming area which is filled with manufacturing companies so a bunch of the clients are manufacturing facility workers. You can go inside and get food from the steam heated trays, or order from the grill. I walked up and got some baked chicken with rice and green beans. Maybe I havent had a lot of good green beans, chicken, or rice but I think this was pretty awesome. They serve you gigantic southern sized portions so if you leave some of the half chicken that they serve you, its a relatively healthy option for a work-lunch. Just as a commentary, the people I was with said that the burgers and other«bunned» selections were amazing. I was watching them cook on the grill and at least by looks, I could confirm their hearsay. Relatively cheap option, and from what I saw, one of the only options in the area.

The steam table will work for a quick lunch, but nothing special. I usually order one of their sandwiches which all have been in general… good. This is not the best of the Frank’s Grill dynasty, but it’ll do for the neighborhood it resides in. The waitresses are for the most part, friendly… but I can’t say the same about the management. I try not to be hungry while in this area, but sometimes… ya’ just gotta eat.
