While serving mainly Mexican food, El Jalapeño believes in diverse food cultures and always try to take care of everyone’s taste, we make everything from scratch including our tortilla. We offer delicious appetizers from Empanada Argentina to Fajita Nachos to Vuelve A La Vida. For those who like to eat extra healthy, you can choose from Potato Salad, Ceser Salad, or Shrimp Salad. Always on the run? No problem, we have Tacos, Sopes, Tostadas, Quesadillas, Tortas and Hamburgers (100% homemade steak) for you to grab and go.

Need to be charged up? How about a hot bowl of soup? Menudo, Caldo de Res, Caldo de Pollo, Pozole, Caldo de Camaron, Caldo de Jaiba and the most popular soup, Caldo de Mariscos (Mixed Seafood Soup).

We recently added a few new items on our specialties menu. Spaghetti with Meat Sauce /​Meat Balls, Milanesa Argentina and Chinese style fried rices

The drinks are amazing, always get the Shrimp cocktail to go with my beer on the side. The service made it unbearable on my last experience, was rude asked for multiple ID to check if I was 21 & was the person on the card was to rude. Id go back to see if the problem continues and re write my review if my experience is better

Horrible. I doubt the cook is Mexican. The name is a lure — but the seasonings used in their enchiladas (fajita filled) rice, and even their beans are clearly not Mexican. The plate presentation was beautiful — flavor horrific– won’t return.

Was pretty good. We ordered to go, was good, everyone else loved their dish, the mole was good but was not a chicken breast but a hind quarter, which is fine except there wasn’t a lot of chicken for me to eat off it. If ordering to go make sure it’s the location you’re going to. Enchiladas verde, tacos were all well received by my coworkers

Stopped for a quick bite on the go. Service was quick & friendly. The food just really didn’t do it for me. I had fajita & chicken tacos. Both meats were on the dry side & lacked flavor. Tried their limonada as well, but didn’t care for it to much.
This rating is true to meaning: wasn’t horrible, but meh… I’ve had better.

After giving this place a second chance (the first time customer service was ok but chicken tacos were super dry and the tortilla was cold… on top of that, they charge me the wrong tab and end up charging me $ 25 more on my 5.50 tab… they fixed the error but being that I was in my lunch break it was very inconvenient). So there I go again to give them another try… food was decent but when they charge you $ 3.00 extra to substitute chicken in your order without letting you know that’s when I was like «never mind with this place» customer service was blah.. she didn’t even bring me chips like she took to the other table.. cause I was by myself? she forgot? she didn’t care? I don’t know but I am not stepping for in here again. They just lost a customer.

I love this place after only one visit. Going again tonight. The chips are great and the sauces are HOT! Hottest I’ve ever had, and also the best. Painfully good. Ordered the mole and it was unlike any mole I’ve ever had. So rich and complex and smoky, rather than sweet like all the other mole I’ve had. The aguas frescas were great too, had the lime water, a little pulpy, which I liked. Great service too, very charming little place. Already my favorite Mexican restaurant.

Went for lunch because we had a Groupon, and we will be going back because the food was excellent! Everything tasted very authentic — what I would call real Mexican food, versus the Tex-​Mex that many places offer.
One of us had the Honduran beef skirt steak with fried bananas, cabbage salad, rice and refried beans — the beef was seasoned perfectly and everything else was very tasty as well. The other of us had chicken enchiladas (delicious), also with rice, beans, and cabbage salad. (Recalling the menu description of these items as best as I can)
Many would call this a «hole in the wall» type of place, and as usual with «hole in the walls», the food was terrific and was enjoyed in a very laid-​back, casual atmosphere.

The chef cooks awesome! The appetizer we ordered was a Honduran beef filled corn pocket n it was so delicious! Definately coming back again :) they take a little long to cook but its worth the wait! Very casual and priced reasonably
P. S. There side of rice is so fluffy and tasty. If you like rive they know how to season it

My partner and I went in mid October of 2011 and we had horrible customer service. Actually, no customer service! The food was good. However, the waiter never gave us a refill on our chips, drinks, and he never checked up on us. There was another waitress sitting down and reading her magazine and watching a Mexican talk show on the t.v. that is in the corner of the dining area. Our waiter, just sat down. Of course, we left no tip. Save your money and go to Los Dos Amigos on Washington Avenue — now that’s great food and great customer service!

This is my second time going there. I had a mango ceviche and the mole. all i can say is «WOW» the mole is very very flavorful!!! I had to order extra rice so that I can finish all the sauce on the plate! Mango ceviche is very light with good acidity. Fish is fresh, and the seasoning is just right! Too bad it aint closer to where I live. I would definitely go back!
