I stopped by Edloe St. Café for lunch on a sunny afternoon with my fiancé while we were in the area, and I am so happy that we did! Edloe St. Café is located on(you guessed it) Edloe St. which is situated in the heart of the absolutely gorgeous neighborhood of West University. Upon driving up, you can see a red awning with«Edloe St.» written in big letters, so you can’t miss it! Just outside, there is an area with wrought iron chairs and tables with umbrellas, and since it was a gorgeous day, we decided to enjoy our food on the patio. One thing I noticed was that there was a little water bowl sitting outside for your pups to drink from, which automatically won some points from me and my doggies. When we stepped inside to order, we walked up to the counter where we were greeted by a very friendly hostess who explained some of the great parts of their menu. My fiancé ended up ordering the Certified Angus Burger and fries, while I went for the Chicken Enchiladas. If there is anything you need to know about my fiancé it’s that he is a huge burger snob, and he LOVED Edloe St. Café’s Certified Angus Burger. Luckily, I got to try it before it disappeared! It came topped with mayo, mustard, red onion, lettuce, and tomatoes. For a little extra, he also added bacon and cheese. What I think really sold us on this burger was not just the obviously high quality of the beef, but also what held it all together. The bun was soft and had a perfectly light texture, which is something you don’t find everywhere. The French fries that came with the burger were lightly seasoned and just the right combination of crispy and fluffy. Also, how often do you get a burger that is quite as photo-ready as this one? I absolutely love enchiladas, but I’m usually not one to order them at a restaurant because I make them at home, but today I was in the mood for something ‘Tex-Mex’ and decided to go for it. Definitely the right choice! These enchiladas are stuffed with chicken and Monterrey jack cheese rolled up in a corn or flour tortilla topped with cheese and a generous amount of white jalapeño sauce. Each bite was a perfect balance of cheesy and creamy. The taste was absolutely phenomenal. The sauce was unlike any sauce I have ever had and it complemented the enchiladas perfectly. They were served with black beans topped with sour cream, a Mexican style rice with diced tomatoes, cilantro, and a little bit of red cabbage, and a red salsa that had a great fire-roasted flavor. All in all, Edloe St. Café is a cute spot with a relaxed atmosphere and a mouth-watering and varied menu. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to keep coming back to, which won’t be hard because it’s very conveniently located. I can’t wait to return and taste the rest of their menu!

I love the food here. And the portions are good. The only reason why I’d knock down a star is because I came here one weekday, when they opened at 10:30am, and nobody was available to help. Being hungry, I waited some 5−10mins, and finally a woman came in and seemed to be very busy. She said I’d have to wait a moment. Another guy came in and said to her that he knew it’d be a bit before they could take his catering order, and she confirmed it. So I left because I was so confused. I guess maybe they don’t do individual orders on weekdays? I dunno. Much confusion. At least the food is good! Maybe just don’t come here when they first open…

A small neighborhood café serving daily breakfast and lunch. With a Groupon in hand, the Mrs. and I decided to try the lunch offerings. We ordered chicken tortilla soup, blackened chicken sandwich, and ahi tuna steak sandwich to share. The soup was full of pulled chicken, tortilla strips, and veggies in a very tasty tomato based broth. The Mrs. said it was a tab too salty, but I thought it was just right. Mrs. loved the chicken sandwich, but it needed more heat in my opinion. A little more Cajun seasoning was needed. We both agreed the tuna was grilled as requested. We ordered rare and the interior of the tuna was pink and juicy. This is a solid place for a good lunch. We will visit again with or without a Groupon in hand.

Edloe Café was cool. Yeji was the chick that took our order and I’m calling her that because I don’t remember her full name lol. She knew the menu front and back no matter what I asked about and also informed us of their special thing they do that you have to ask about when you get to the register(just ask for a beer and you’ll see lol). I ordered the Cobb salad and it was pretty good. I’ve had better but for the overall experience, I had to give this place 4 stars. Service was friendly, food was cool. There’s a small outside patio my friends and I sat at and it was a great day outside so the environment was perfect. A nice place to go and chill with a couple friends and talk about life haha. Pay it a visit for a random lunch, definitely worth it.

Randomly found this spot because my friend works near 610 and we wanted to go somewhere on her lunch break with salads. We walked in and the ambiance was very welcoming and relaxed. The young woman at the counter was incredibly helpful when it came to being indecisive on their salad list and also complimented us with beers ;) we sat outside at the patio and the vibes with good people and cold beer and fresh salads is never bad. All in all I’d come here again when I’m looking for a light lunch on west university.

I had Good Friday off of work so I made my way to Edloe St. Café for lunch. Eldloe is only open for breakfast and lunch but breakfast items are served during lunch as well. The café reminds me of a typical European café. It’s small, there are a few tables inside and four tables plus a picnic table outside. The patio is in front of the restaurant and it’s the place to be on a nice day. The food is mostly new American with some Mexican influence. I had the plantain-crusted chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Interesting dish and the food was great. You order at the counter and then they bring out your food to you. Portion sizes are large and while there are only a few parking spots in front of the restaurant, there is plenty of street parking close by. Solid breakfast/lunch spot!

This place has a cute and quaint ambiance! I would say the general crowd is older folks and families who live around the area. The menu was a typical brunch menu with salads, burgers and breakfast items. Biscuit:2/5, it was on the doughy side. Tasted slightly raw the more I chewed. Coffee:2/5, tasted very watery. Just ew. French toast:4/5, I liked it a lot! For how simple it looked, It wasn’t drenched with sauce and had a nice soft(not soggy) texture. The French toast was lightly sweet and had some strawberries for garnish. I wish I asked a side of whip cream in lieu of the syrup. Overall i enjoyed my experience, especially the service. The chef at the front, maybe the owner as well was very sweet and hospitable. I can see myself coming here on the weekends for brunch and avoid all those crazy brunch places out in the Montrose area *shudders*

Great atmosphere, service, and location. My chicken sandwich and fries were served hot off the grill – perhaps 4.5 stars for flavor. For a point of reference, any Chick-Fil-A sandwich would pale in comparison. Companion was not terribly thrilled with the Stuffed Avocado salad, which was more like a, well, stuffed avocado, than a salad, but that impression was influenced by being utterly blown away by a Salata salad the day before, so that is a tough comparison. Despite that, I still give 4 stars overall since I assume we could have made a better selection from the menu. And that is one of the best things about the place: the variety of the menu. If I lived or worked in the neighborhood I’d be back, and would recommend accordingly. But for an occasional visit into town, I’d probably be thinking about exploring some of the numerous other options for lunch or dinner, unless I wanted something different like an omelette in the afternoon.

Great atmosphere! Delicious, affordable food. I had breakfast: spinach, mushrooms & cheddar cheese omelet, delicious pancake, wheat toast, fruits and coffee! Coffee was oh so good. Thanks to Groupon I made this discovery! Definitely will be back.

We ate here for the first time on Saturday, January 23rd. The guys were incredibly helpful, informative and friendly. We had the blackened chicken sandwich, tuna steak sandwich, plus chips with salsa and guacamole. We thoroughly enjoyed everything.(Including the lemonade) We came in because we had a Groupon, but we will definitely be back even without a Groupon. Besides the top notch service, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was nice. It was too cool to sit outside, but we also look forward to enjoying the patio sometime.

I use to really like this place. I wish I could give this place more than two stars. Two stars was only for location and nice patio. Ordered the Cobb Salad. Came out with lettuce, very mealy tomatoes, avocados, and old blue cheese. I asked about the meat and was brought out a tiny cup of bacon: I mean tiny. I again asked if this was all and was told this is what I ordered. Very disappointing.

Great breakfast food. I had the migas and the person I was with had the French Toast. The migas were great, and the French bread as french toast was a great touch. We’ll definitely be back!

Excellent place that now is only open for lunch. Ive tried their tacos and grilled salmon. Both of which are fantastic. Very friendly service. There is usually a valuable groupon that makes the meal even cheaper.

This place is a gem. Had breakfast with my family there this morning, I ate the country Benedict my wife had the Cajun Benedict they were both out of this world. I will most certainly be back to eat at this place. My only beef is that it took me so long to find it.

Edloe is a super solid place to eat breakfast. We live nearby and especially enjoy the patio on a nice day. Boyfriend and I have tried: breakfast tacos, omelets, french toast and the pulled pork on different occasions. I would highly recommend the french toast, and honestly all of their breakfast food. I’m not a huge grits person, but a lot of people I hear rave about them, and they come with the omelet along with a biscuit and potatoes(which you can substitute). The french toast comes with strawberries and delicious syrup, and it’s super fluffy. Boyfriend liked the breakfast tacos but on this recent trip they had a few ingredients in there that he didn’t order(ie. potatoes and sausage in an egg and bacon taco). The tacos can come with rice and beans or you can substitute, like my boyfriend did, and get potatoes, fruit, or another side. I would honestly discourage you from getting the pulled pork, as it was super tiny. While it was good, I just wasn’t satisfied. This is Texas after all, so I do not like to leave hungry(do not judge how much I eat). Service is always prompt and courteous, and we’ve always been able to find a table when we’ve gone. Definitely a fun no-frills place to grab breakfast on a pretty day if you’re in the area.

We found this place through groupon, service is awesome and food is pretty good too. Portions can be a little small but you are in West u so that’s to be expected. Will definitely come back

Great food. when your order is correct. Placed a pickup order for a traditional club and some pulled pork tacos. I really received a turkey and swiss on ciabatta instead of the club. And then she’s stares me down and starts yelling in the kitchen, making me feel at fault for some reason. is I because I didn’t pull up in my new Benz wearing my new Polo shirt?

An amazing burger. Hole in the wall place. Excellent fries. Good service. Breakfast lunch and dinner with kids menu. Small shop but an excellent meal. Foodie groups need to make this a regular place. Has beer but not a centerpiece for the place. I will be back. On par, but different than, Petes in kingwood

Edloe St. Café is nestled in the heart of West University Place, one of the most beautiful areas of Houston. Located only a mile or so from the Southwest Freeway and minutes from Rice University, the Museum District, the Medical Center and, of course, downtown; it is a beautiful place to stop by and get a great meal. We had a very enjoyable lunch at the Edloe St. Café, one of Houston’s hidden little gems. I must admit this is an area that I don’t get to as often as I would like. The neighborhood is absolutely beautiful, with large, beautifully-maintained homes, impeccably-landscaped yards and huge mature trees. The whole area gives off a small-town feel. If you are new to Houston or vacationing here, I highly recommend you see this part of the city. And a visit to the Edloe St. Café is the perfect compliment. The cherry on top, as they say. As you can see in the photography, the café boasts a beautiful patio where you can enjoy a delicious lunch with a glass of wine or a quick coffee on a shady bench as you enjoy the sweet sounds of birds chirping nearby — a pleasant way to pass the time on a beautiful Houston day. But, the day we stopped for lunch at the Edloe St. Café was far from being one of those days. So, we headed right into the Café where tasteful art adorned the walls — bringing an array of beautiful colors into the dining experience. I had heard great things about the Edloe St. Café from people who have had their events catered by them. The Café is noted for the diversity of its menu and the freshness of its ingredients. To start things off right, we ordered a couple of Shiner Bocks. A Top Texas Craft Beer is a great choice when diving into a Texas-sized burger. Or at any other time, in my book. We decided to try a couple of different burgers: the Certified Angus Burger to give us a taste of the traditional fare on offer here and the British Burger to whet our appetites for interesting gourmet eats. We also opted for the Parmesan Crusted Chicken, the Grilled Chicken Berry Salad(you know I can’t have a meal without a salad) and the Cajun Benedict. The Certified Angus Burger was delightful: a top-quality beef burger topped with mayonnaise, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onions. But my personal favorite had to be the British Burger: a ground sirloin burger layered with heirloom tomatoes, chili, jalapenos, onion rings, sun-dried pepper bacon and topped with an egg over easy. Quite a gut-buster, as they say. But interesting doesn’t even begin to explain the assortment of flavors you get in this sandwich. And the way the egg yolk drips down the side once you top the bun… absolutely divine! A colossal work of art is the way I would describe this burger; which is quite fitting with the Café being so close to the Museum District. Both burgers were exceptional, but the British Burger is a must-try, for sure! Next up was the Cajun Benedict: a toasted English muffin topped with sautéed crawfish tails, poached eggs, Lobster Hollandaise Sauce, sprinkled with lump crab and served with a side of breakfast potatoes. The description of the ingredients here speaks for itself — it’s like a theater of the mind. Let’s just say that the ingredients are extremely fresh and the portions are perfect. Now, take a moment to imagine what that tastes like. See what I mean? The Cajun Benedict was a wonderful choice. It doesn’t matter whether it’s for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner; all you have to do set it in front of me and you will see how I feel from ear to ear. Our final choices were the Parmesan Crusted Chicken and the Grilled Chicken Berry Salad, the Café’s most popular salad choice. The salad, suggested by our server, was a tasty base of spring mix topped with grilled chicken, fresh strawberries, blue cheese, spiced pecans and drizzled with a wonderful balsamic vinegar dressing. This type of salad is one of my favorites and the one here fit the bill. The strawberries were so sweet and absolutely popped off the blue cheese that I love so much! If you are going the salad route here, then I recommend the Grilled Chicken Berry Salad, a solid choice. The Parmesan Crusted Chicken consists of a delicious and juicy pounded chicken breast which is first dipped in egg wash, then covered with a mixture of fresh ground Parmesan and bread crumbs, baked to perfection and served on a bed of linguine. This entrée put me over the edge. What a wonderful dish! Each bite was better than the last, but I had finally reached my limit. Ha! And then I took one more bite. Delish! The Edloe St. Café is the kind of place you can eat at a couple of times a week and it never gets old. They serve a wide variety of dishes and do them all very well. I’m definitely adding it to my list of favorite spots here in Houston!

BESTBURGERINTOWN!!! Honestly, it has flavor but the best part is the absolutely most delicious bun! Please never change that bun, I daydream about these burgers with cheese and grilled onions! We’ve been happy with everything we’ve eaten here too though. Afterwards, we just take the kids to play at the school park across the street.
