Discount Tire Store – Houston, TX

I rarely complain, but Discount Tire has rubbed me the wrong way in just a couple of days. Here’s my complaint to corporate in case they delete my statement. I feel like people on my side of town need to know how these people do business and treat their customers: Wow. I have NEVER in my life experienced such horrible customer service. Never! A couple of days ago I went to the 14 300 Bellaire Blvd locaton for a balance and rotation. Later that evening I noticed that I heard flapping noises from my front tires. Unfortunately, Discount Tire isn’t open late, so I waited until the next day (Friday) to go in an address the issue. I came in concerned and told the gentleman at the front register about the issue. He did a quick inspection of my wheels and said I had nothing to worry about. He told me that the sound was coming from my brakes because the technicians use a spray during the balance and rotation and that got in my brakes. I told him that I was concerned because I drive on the Freeway to work back and forth and I have NEVER heard anything like this. He said that if the noise continues to just come back in a couple of days. He kept telling me that I have nothing to be concerned about. Saturday, the noise got obnoxiously louder. By the time I got off from work, Discount Tire was already closed. I noticed that a lug nut from the front and back tire was gone. Meaning that my tires were not tightened correctly. Wow! I have never experienced such horrible customer service. Because of their negligence I could have lost my tires. I am a paying customer who payed money to have my maintenence done accurately to make sure I am safe. They had made up for that by tightening my lug nuts and sent me to the mechanic to get my studs fixed that broke because of their mistake. After my issue was fixed, the mechanic noticed a nail in the front driver tire. Hmmm, Discount Tire must have not noticed it. The mechanic shop is only 3 lights down fom the Discount Tire shop they referred me to, so the chances of me getting that nail after they inspected my tire was low. I’m certain they missed it. Instead I went to the 2300 Hwy 6 S, Houston, TX 77 077 location (West Oaks) to fix the nail issue. I purposely avoided the 14 300 Bellaire Blvd location after they didn’t properly tighten my lug nuts a couple of days ago. I expected to get better customer service at the West Oaks location, but instead I was highly disappointed. After they inspected my tire with the nail, the gentleman said I was good to go. I asked him if the tire was okay, and he said «yes, ma’am. Everything is fine.» He then proceeded to the next customer. This morning on my way to work I notice I have a flat on the same exact tire, wow! Both of your locations have definitely showed that they are lacking customer service and safely skills. Within a couple of days both stores have put my life at risk. How am I supposed to continue to give this corporation business and refer my friends and family? I need to be compensated for this somehow. What can you, as a corporation that believes will go above and beyond, do to satisfy me now? I need to be compensated and I need to hear back as soon as possible. This is not a good way to do business. I’m gonna make sure people know about this, so they won’t make the same mistake coming here and putting their life at risk. I had to call in to work this morning. I never call into work.

Staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. They will fix other Dtire stores mistakes and honor the system“s warranties. They do good and fast work. The assistant manager «rocky» was cool and cooperative. Will be my go to store here on 6 for any tire problem. Kudos to rocky. Ask for this nigga.

Had my car towed here today, after falling in to oblivion on Eldridge and destroying 2 of my tyres.
Josh/​Justin (his name starts with a J) was exceptionally helpful. Told me the only tyres he had on site were Michelins but he could get me cheaper ones if I wanted to wait.
Once they had the car in the air, they discovered the wheels themselves were destroyed and wouldn’t hold pressure. So back to square one! $ 750 each (quoted) or set of 4 after markets for the same price. After talking to hubby, he decided we wanted to look for the official VW wheels for our and the sales guy offered to call and find us wheels– which he did, at a great price!
They installed one that day and will install another next week when it arrives, but it was a great all round experience considering the epically crap circumstances.
Toilet was clean and spacious and they have koala care changing table — excellent considering many restaurants and public buildings don’t have them!

I enjoy coming to this location because everyone here is extremely friendly. Wait time is average. Usually does not take longer than an hour. Only thing is that sometimes it takes too long for the free air pressure test.

Great service!!! Fast service!!! I had a nail in my tire on the sidewall and they fortunately had my tire in stock! Replaced it! I was in and out in 35 min!!! Thank you discount tire co!

they atripped down the studs on my car the employees are nothing but high school kids with no experience with hand tools at all

This used to be my default discount tire, when Alief was my stomping grounds. But recently while visiting an old friend, his low air light came on. Sure enough a stop at discount tire was in order. FREE air check and refill. The people working are a bit slow, but then again it’s completely FREE.

The people here were nice-​and courteous I did not like the pressure of higher price for everything. I prefer BETTER PRICE.

Just got back from Australia and the air on my tires were low. Dropped in for a quick fix and it was free! Never got out of my car. ~Took 3 minutes.

I came in here with a punctured tire around 11am one Monday morning and they had me out with a new tire within 20 minutes. The manager was very nice and even retroactively let me purchase their warranty certificates on my three other tires.
Granted, I live in Mississippi where there are no Discount Tire Companies but it was the only way to get the new tire discounted to avoid paying full price.
My general experience with Discount Tires is that they are very fast and efficient. But their prices aren’t really that much cheaper than what you could get at say Wal-​Mart or through some research on the internet. You can get discounts by buying more stuff — extra warranties, or more quantities, but I dislike that business model. I always end up leaving here buying something I don’t need so I can get a better deal on what I do need.
This particular branch is efficient and friendly though, if you need to go.

My experience at this location of Discount Tire has been good so far. There was a long line inside when I went on a Thursday morning around 11 am, but it moved fast. They offer the typical good service and prices I’ve come to experience at Discount Tires in Austin.
I had to get a new wheel for a 2001 Corolla my parents bought used back in 2002 (and didn’t scrutinize enough before purchasing). The steel wheel to fit the car wasn’t in stock and they had to order it from California. It cost $ 60. The labor, valve, and tax eventually made the total bill $ 72. The alloy wheels (which are stronger and lighter) only cost about $ 70 but would unfortunately make the car look like a riceburner.
The waiting room is big and open with floor-​to-​ceiling windows on two sides. There’s free (albeit cold) coffee but no free, cold bottled water like at the Austin Discount Tire locations. There’s a nice big magazine rack with a wide variety of magazines to read when you’re waiting. :)
If you’re a curious car owner, you can sit at the counter that overlooks the garage area and watch your car being worked on. That’s unique of my Discount Tire experiences and I like that concept.
The mechanic who works on your car demonstrates to you where the problem to be fixed is. I always feel like I’m getting a square deal at Discount Tire compared to the mechanics my parents used to go to in the 1980s.
This Discount Tire location is on the North side of Bellaire Blvd, between the Sugarland-​Howell and Hwy 6 intersections. It’s almost across from Pavilion, but a little to the east – just as the Unilocal Map shows.
