Updating this review four years later… this place is sill my go-to framing store! Family run and local!

Good customer service is dying but not at Davis. Michael should teach others how it is done. With an extensive art collection, inevitably something is bound to fall off the wall. With shattered glass, I needed a large(33×28) framed lithograph fixed. Aaron Brothers wanted $ 149 just for a piece of glass replacement, no thanks. Davis took my piece, with a bag of framing parts and the print. $ 50 later I was out the door in 4 business days with something that looked better than before. I will definitely be back. Oh and if you think you have seen a lot of custom frames, go look at Davis, it will blow your mind!

Fast and reliable service. These guys are great! I came in needing a print mounted under a tight deadline and they took care of it while I waited in the store. I’m sure they won’t always be able to give this kind of immediate service but I am thankful for it when it can happen.

I really want to shop local, but when I went to collect my framed pictures — they weren’t done. Which only added to the insult from day I brought the pieces in whereby TWO employees commented on just how ugly the existing matting and frames were. Based on those comments alone you’d think they would have made a better effort instead of misplacing them like they did. Or maybe my pictures were so ugly that they had to hide them!

I did a lot of research(went to about 15 framing places all over Houston plus Hobby Lobby, in person, to investigate). before choosing a place to get several large pieces of art framed. This place not only has a larger selection of frames and matting than many chains, but is also fairly inexpensive, as frames go. I received quotes ranging from around $ 400 per piece to $ 1200 per piece for similar framing(oversize acid-buffered cream mat, per foot frame prices similar, UV glass). I was able to frame 3 oversized pieces of art for a little over $ 1300, tax included. The best part was that when we realized that the art was actually TOOBIG to fit in my car after framing, they actually loaded up my art in their truck and drove it to my house(after some laughter and consternation on all our parts). Yes, my friends. FREEDELIVERYTOMYDOOR. Not sure if that’s part of their standard service, but they saved me a lot of time(and buying my friend-with-truck a thank-you-for-hauling-my-stuff-again dinner). So in summary: Selection: Only one place had a frame and mat selection that was a similar size. But that place also quoted me one of the most expensive prices. There were some places that had similar estimates, but the selection was not as extensive. Prices: Awesome for the quality and selection. Service: I’m actually signing up on this thing to post a review for them. For this level of service, they deserve it. Also they are a family-run place, and the atmosphere is friendly.

I’ve purchased custom frames from this shop twice now and had great experiences both times! The first was a custom frame for a LARGE mirror, turned out perfectly. Most recently I went to get 2 diplomas framed. I wanted something a little more modern than the usual dark brown frames and they delivered! My fav part are the velvet mats that match our school colors.(It’s hard to tell in the attached picture but they are green and blue.) The frame is a neutral cream white with gold accents, so I know it will go with our décor for years to come. Overall I would absolutely recommend this shop! Plus it’s family owned and I love to support those type of businesses. :)

They framed a lithograph print of an art piece that I was gifting to my Mom while I was visiting from out of town. Every place I tried was giving me quotes over TWICE what Davis Hardware charged AND they all wanted two weeks to complete it. Davis did it in 24 hours and charged HALF! I will always go there for framing needs! Super friendly and family owned!

Very nice framing shop with a very large selection and great staff. I came in and spoke to one of their employees named Robert. I explained to him that I needed a print framed for a Benefit in two days. He was able to find the molding that I was looking for in the back. They apparently have a bunch of moldings in stock .He gave me a good price, and had it finished for me the next morning. I will definitely be back.

I’ve been here only once and I’ve decided I found a new place to shop every weekend. Staff were friendly, selection of frames, paintings and other wall hangings, and antiques was ample and interesting.

I have used Davis Hardware for all our framing needs. They are Excellent. They are a small LOCAL shop. I personally do not have a problem with them taking time to do a fantastic job or having to wait a bit while someone else(probably one of my neighbors) is being helped. Like I said, they are a small LOCAL shop. I prefer that to a huge chain anyday!

Despite the name, this is really just a picture framing place. That said, practically every piece of framed art in our house was framed by them, and they have always done a great job, from helping us with designing the right frame and matting, to the actual execution. The only negative I have is that they do take a long time to turn around a framing job.

I walked into Davis Hardware the other day since I always drive by the place to see about framing a couple of things. We live in the Heights and love to support local businesses. I walked around for about 5 minutes and not even a «Hello-» from the people who worked there. It’s a small space so it wasn’t like they did not see me. A guy in the back looked like he could have been working on something and didn’t want to be interrupted, and then there was a woman who was helping another customer; I would have stayed and waited for her to finish up with that customer had she only made me feel a bit welcomed. No acknowledgment, whatsoever, even as I slowly started to make my way back to the front door(I was hoping by walking slowly, she would have at least acknowledged me). I guess they didn’t need the business. :(
