Danish Inspirations

Not sure whether to like this place or loathe it. It’s full of some nice pieces but they’re all imitations of much nicer designer furniture. That piece there strongly resembles a piece designed by Eames, Knoll and/​or Jens Risom, take your pick. Most pieces here aren’t even Danish inspired, but just modern looking. Fake wood veneer?, can’t I get that at ikea for a fraction of the price?
The sales people are friendly but it’s clearly commission sales here. We left without really considering anything.

Location is not that easy to get to, but parking is plenty
Show room and personnel working there: 10/​10, helpful, not overbearing .
Furniture itself is exactly what you see in the showroom, I love their style. Quality is good, shape and materials — a taste issue, like a high quality IKEA. Love it !
Delivery — 2 guys, on time, were able to deal with my non English speaking mom and arrange the furniture in the right place .
Of note: no outdoors furniture, no children furniture (that I saw there).
I’m going back for more.

I have been in the store on many occasions and always find a new selection of furniture. The people are friendly in the store and parking is simple, being able to park just out front. Thus, far I have purchased from them on three occasions. The last time was a recliner for my wife. it’s funny that she loved mine that I got there a year earlier more than her chair from Pottery Barn.
We found the Ekornes section to be very easy to find in the store. I like that there were swatches of fabric and leather which made it easy to see what worked in our home. The sales rep was helpful as well explaining that there are three sizes of the chair. A suggestion to get the table that attaches was very good. She uses that all the time for her laptop.
Overall it was a good experience. There was no issue on delivery like missing parts or damage to the chair. The only slow part in the process is getting a ticket written up so they can get the delivery information. I am not sure that can be done that much faster though.

Customer service was awful. We walked in and the store was empty. The sales associate made eye contact but didn’t greet us. We approached him and explained what we were looking for. He replied by telling us they wouldn’t have anything for us. I could out later their sister store next door did have what we were looking for. Too bad for them. Wouldn’t suggest this place!

One big problem, I can’t access thier website and furniture photos from my IPad. I like to shop online on my iPad while I watch TV in the evening. I use my Ekornes Stressless recliner with its attached computer table, which is just right for an iPad.
I finally was able to purchase the furniture I really wanted from Danish Inspirations. It seems that I have been hearing their radio ads since they opened in 1982. I just moved back to Texas and brought none of my furniture with me, so I got to start fresh and I chose Danish Inspirations to furnish my apt while I searched for a home. I simply love and feel comforted by beautifully designed curved wood Scandinavian modern furniture. I bought several (5) pieces of Ekornes Stressless furniture for my living room, some Skoby, and Domitalia for my dining room, and 4 pieces of Mobican teak for my bedroom, and a lovely curved front entertainment center in walnut and black tinted glass. John was the sales rep that assisted me. He could not have been better. Very professional, informed and informative, he listened to my want list, made a few suggestions, and gave me time to look on my own. When I had narrowed my selections, he guided me to the right size chair, and made further suggestions to make sure I got just the right pieces for me.
Above all, for those who may have serious back pain as I do, Johns suggestions of the Ekornes Stressless recliner, and the Eco 10″ memory foam mattress have benefitted me beyond anything I might have imagined. I was on Rx pain meds 3 – 4 times per day for back pain, and now I rarely ever need any of the pain meds. I am still disabled and spend a good deal of my day in my Ekornes recliner, but it is such a relief to not feel the need for those meds.
I recommend John as your sales person and I would trust him to guide you to exactly the pieces of furniture for your needs. He also let me know that If I could bring a letter/​prescription from my doctor regarding the Stressless furniture, that they could waive the sales tax.
Delivery was exceptional, polite, timely and they carefully placed the furniture and positioned the accessories and in one case even made a suggestion on placement that was an improvement on my plan.
Six months later, I have found my new home and I am heading back to Danish Inspirations for the pieces I need for the new space. My only regret is that the selection of the Danish Modern wooden furniture is not larger. On the other hand I trust the quality of each piece I buy from Danish Inspirations.

We’ve made multiple furniture purchases for my house and office over many years. Decent price for the style of furniture offered here. Also has good delivery service for larger furniture that won’t quite fit in my car. Once in awhile you can find a good deal on certain clearance items. Good stuff here, nothing to complain about here.

Pretty decent furniture at reasonable prices. The styling is your typical contemporary look, but not so much that it’s tacky. Bought my Natuzzi sofa/​loveseat there years ago, just bought some dining room chairs recently. Will shop there again.

When my husband and I first started shopping for furniture in Houston, Danish Inspirations was a godsend. We like sleek, modern stuff and we were looking for decent quality at an affordable price. Everything we found was either cheap-​o (IKEA, Target), completely not our taste (Gallery, Star) or out of our price range (Bo Concept, High Fashion Home). Over the past two years, we’ve bought a bedroom set, and convertible sofa, and several smaller items from DI. The selection is good but not overwhelming, the salespeople are helpful without being too pushy, and you can expect a certain level of quality from everything they sell.
Overall, the prices are competitive if you’re looking for «real furniture» vs. dorm-​style junk made of particle board. Just be aware that delivery is $ 100 no matter what you buy – so if you’re making a smaller purchase, you’ll want to squeeze it into your car. If you sign up for their mailing list, you find out about their sales (about twice a year) and very occasionally they send coupons (such as $ 50 off a purchase of $ 500 or more). In my experience, you’ll never get more than 10% off unless an item is a floor model, damaged, etc. – I think their philosophy is to have reasonable everyday prices and not do too much discounting. Overall, they have good products and are good people to work with!

Love this store! They have an awesome selection of modern and contemporary furniture and the prices are pretty reasonable. The salesmen don’t hassle you when you walk in the door like Stars and Fingers do. We’ve bought a Natuzzi couch and ottoman from them and we LOVE them– their products and selection are head and shoulders above so many other store in Houston.

Have made multiple purchases here for the past 10 years from the same salesman. He’s still there.
Furniture style is contemporary with middle to upper middle price range.
Leather furniture and Ekornes Stressless chairs, ottomans and couches
are one of their specialties. They also carry dining room, bedroom furniture and some office tables and chairs.
One note on the negative — they no longer carry the higher end bookcases for your office or other purposes. Salesman said the company went out of business. Bummer.
Not as expensive as Cantoni or Roche Bobois but quality is a notch lower.

I have been shopping at Danish inspirations since 2007 and have purchased several major items from them. My first major purchase was a wood bed frame set (espresso). It was a very good set for the price. The frame has held up very well for the 3 years that I have owned it, and I can definitely say that the quality is more than adequate. I have had absolutely no problems at all.
I really wanted a sectional couch and the original set that I ordered from them would not fit up my semi winding stairwell. (not their fault at all). I decided to go with a different sectional set that was able to be broken down into more pieces. The natuzzi sectional set that I went with was not cheap to say the least. If you are framiliar with the line, they offer very soft and durable leather goods in a contemporary design. So far the natuzzi has held up well, with very minimal scratches from my own mis-​use. My one complaint is that the particular chair i use the most, has tended to sag a bit relative to others, but not by much.
We also own a coffee table and end table set that we get many compliments from. I also own a desk and other office room furniture which has held up wonderfully through time.
Overall, I believe that Danish Inspirations is slightly over-​priced for what you get, but the quality of the goods does make the purchase a bit easier to stomach. Sure there are other places on Fondren, but those places may be closed down by the time you need any warranty work done. I believe that this place offers a nice balance b/​w contemporary styles and affordability. The fact that not everyone shops here gives me the ability to set my place apart from others, and that means a lot to me.

After spending the past 2 – 3 years looking for a coffee table that would match a black leather couch, I have finally found my table.
Danish Inspirations is furniture store that deals mainly with modern style of furniture. There were about 3 tables that had caught my attention. I ruled out one of them because it was over $ 1000, and for me spending that kind of money on a coffee table seemed like a foolish thing to do.
The sales rep was friendly, and not pushy. He allowed me to take my time to browse the store, and jump back and forth a few times while I was making my decision.
One of the drawbacks of this store is that seem to have their furniture scattered all arond the store. There were some matching sets that were spread out in the store and not on display together. Also, they do not have an efficient delivery service. They charge about $ 100 and they hire a moving company and 2 men to deliver your furniture which usually takes a few days to setup and move. So if you were to buy a table for $ 300, then they would charge you $ 100 to have it delivered.
Lucky for me, I only needed a coffee table that I thought for sure would fit into my car. If you are picking up your furniture, they have a warehouse that is located about 1 mile away. I drove there and they had my table all ready for me to pick up. I did have a little issue getting the table top to fit in my car, I ended up having to stick it in the trunk and tie the trunk door down. I tihnk I burned my hand from having to hold the trunk lid down while the warehouse guy tied everything together (black cars, 95+ degree weathe and sunlight are not a good combination)

While a three star review may not seem impressive, let me say that I plan to return to Danish Inspiration. They do a great job of having generically user friendly furniture readily available at cheap-​ish prices.
When we went, the air conditioning was out which made for a not-​so-​pleasant shopping experience, but that’s easily ignored. The jumbled warehouse feel proved to be a little distracting. With no real aisles to speak of, it was easy to miss out on things because you’re were too busy traversing the congested room.
The quality is not fantastic, but it is affordable. They do a few knock off designs which irked me a little, but there’s not much you can do about that. The salespeople were not pushy (kudos for that) and they had quite a few sale prices for the floor items.
What Danish Inspirations does well though is keep it generic. There were modern-​ish pieces, contemporary-​ish units, and traditional-​ish set ups. Nothing was extreme. If you’re looking for something strictly in one camp or another, you may need to wander elsewhere.
We’re still in the early stages of shopping and while I doubt we’ll do any major pieces here, I did find a few accents that I think we can skimp on and get the same effect.

I’ve gotta agree with Cory. Danish Inspirations isn’t amazing, but they’ve got some pretty good basic furniture at pretty good prices. I’ve shopped here several times, and have been happy with what I’ve purchased.
Pretty good stuff at a fair price: If only more in the furniture business (Hi, Mattress Mac!) would offer this.
