I’m a little surprised by some of the reviews for Dr. Canto. I had my teeth cleaned and an assessment done for cosmetic work with Dr. Canto. Not only did I find her extremely knowledgeable, she also spent close to an hour with me reviewing my teeth and setting realistic expectations, which is something I didn’t get from my last cosmetic work. Ultimately she didn’t sell me anything and referred me to someone else who specialized in the treatment i needed. I’ll certainly go back here and I’ve had my share of crappy cleanings and not all doctors are created equal, that said I would recommend Dr. Canto and her team.

I first went to Dr Amanda Canto’s dental office because I was worried about my dental health. I also had extensive dental work done years ago and was not happy at all with my smile. I came to her praying that she and her team can help me achieve a healthy and beautiful smile. And that’s just what Dr Canto did for me! She firstly addressed my overall oral health. I had cleanings and other treatments done to clear up most of the problems I had. Which I loved because it showed that she wasn’t just interested in the cosmetic dental part but my overall wellbeing. I am extremely pleased with how much more healthy my gums and teeth feel. I am excited to keep visiting with Dr Canto to continue improving my smile. She is always thorough in explaining all treatments and why I need them done. And the staff there is AMAZING! From front desk to the dental assistants and office staff. They are so friendly and welcoming. Cosmetic Dentist of Houston will definitely be my life long dentist. Highly recommend to anyone looking to achieve a beautiful and healthy smile:) :)

I had my teeth whitened here. It’s a procedure done in 4 steps. By the time I was at step 3, I was in so much pain I couldn’t take it anymore. But the pain didn’t stop, another 2 hours after it started hurting even more, and I’ve been in pain for another 10 hours after that. I will never do anything like it again. Even though there was a significant change in color, some parts of my teeth turned whiter than the other.

I had 4 different appointments at Dr. Canto’s, the first one they took X rays of my teeth, every single one of them, in the second appointment a teeth clean up was performed by a hygienist and Dr Canto informed me I needed fillings for some abfractions, I was also told there was leaking in one previous filling and I should have it replaced. I was given a sheet of paper with the different procedures and the cost of it. In my third appointment while I was having my dental fillings done Ms canto started to engage her female assistant about her (the assistant) romantic life asking her different question about the person she was dating and also giving opinions about the relationship. Ms Canto seemed more interested in her assistant private life than in my teeth. In the middle of a filling replacement (a molar) Dr Canto ”discovered” that there was also a filling on the side of the molar and asked me if I would also liked to have it replaced. The replacemet was being done with composite (a white color) and the filling being replaced was amalgam (grayish color) this question came from a ”cosmetic dentist” and could only mean one thing, extra cash. Ms Canto told me that even though she had performed 2 filling replacements she would only charged me for one, however, when it came time to pay my bill I was told a different amount from the previous one and I told the lady a the desk the discrepancy, she called Ms Canto who quickly informed her that she had performed 3 fillings in the same molar and she was only charging me for 2 and so I paid the extra amount (there is only 2 fillings in the molar as far as my eyes allow me to see)
I went back for a fourth appointment with Ms Canto to give her the opportunity to fix the filling replacement she had done the previous visit (the filling was done hollow and the edges of the molar were extremely sharp) when Dr Canto showed up her demeanor had changed from a friendly dentist to a defensive and even combative one, she also seemed not to know the reason I was there for, as I had to explained to her several times what the problem was, even though I had already explained it to the lady at the front, as well as to her assistant, once she understood what I was there for she said it was ”excess resin” and she proceeded to level off the ”excess resin”.
In retrospective it was all a mistake going back to her, but I’m a firm beliviever of giving people a second chance to prove themselves.
