C.J. Childs — Foreign Accent Reduction has been in Houston since 1999. I’m the author of McGraw-Hill’s audiocourse, Improve Your American English Accent, a course sold all around the world. The audiocourse is at the center of my short courses, private and group.
I don’t try to make anybody into a native speaker, but I know a few tricks that can make newcomers more comprehensible to their native neighbors and colleagues. I’ve changed lives; I’ve even had a note of thanks from a native-speaking American who found the audiocourse very helpful in his recovery from a stroke. In six sessions (nine hours), I can show you the basics of American English speech. What you do with that information depends on you.

Charlsie C.
Business Owner
Charlsie’s undergraduate degree was in Speech and Language Pathology from a small college well-regarded locally in that field. She worked for the Defense Language Institute, English Language Center (DLIELC) in San Antonio, Texas, a Defense Department school which prepared foreign military personnel for training in such career specialties as flight, fire support, underwater demolition and medical. Her undergraduate work helped greatly in the modification of students’ speech, and she has worked almost exclusively in accent reduction recently.
