First time eating Bosnian food. New owners so thought we would give it a try after a friend recommended the place. Not much parking space available. The waiters were very attentive and helpful. The wait wasn’t bad at all. The meats were all incredible, flavorful and juicy. We had the mix platter, cevac kabob and lamb chops. Everything was zabiha. The bread they served was ok, not a fan but the meat was definitely on point. We also tried their meat lovers pizza and it was pretty good. Would definitely recommended and will be coming again.

Great place for Bosnian pizza. They have a friendly staff, the lady manager/owner is hot! Heheh. Beautiful hazel eyes. Now about the food… if you like thin crust pizza you’ll like it here. Although the outside can look a bit sketchy the food here is definitely not. I would pass on the sardine plate, but definitely try the pizza if that’s what you’re into. If you’re watching your fat intake this is not the place to go. The«grilled» veggies were heavy on the oily. side. Awesome people good pizza.

This location is a hole in the wall, the place is very small if your group is bigger than 4 people it is going to be hard to find a spot. They do have a balcony also. This is a Bosnian restaurant that a co-worker room me to. During lunch they only have one waitress so she is running around doing everything. It is a little long but the food was really good. We order Cevap platter. Both of our plates were clean by the end of lunch. They gives you a very healthy portion. So come hungry

It was my worst restaurant experience ever. So me and my bf decided to have a lunch up there since our previous dining experience was good. As soon as we walked in the server just told us to find the place to sit. The restaurant was empty. She came after 5 mins to take an order and disappeared. Then after around 10 mins she brought us our soups and left us. She didn’t serve us the bread as we got served before. We had to wait for our entrees for around 30 mins. My bf noticed that dish was ready long time ago but not served since our waitress was on the phone outside. We decided to take the food ourself. All she did was to get us our check. That’s where I could see that her name was Zumrat. Horrible service and cold dishes don’t even deserve one star!!!

It was my first visit — the service was great. They made two recommendations the Bosnian Goulash and Cevap platter both awesome. It is also a BYOB place.

This establishment is definitely not pita-ful at all! BA dum tsh. I went here with my Serbian friend who heard numerous accolades about their food, and I definitely was not dissapointed(neither was he)! I ordered the Stuffed Pljeskavice and my godddd my mouth was so happy. All the flavors and spices combined together in such a nice palette and satisfied my taste buds perfectly. The service was also quite friendly and attentive to our needs! Definitely recommend checking out this place! It doesn’t look very grandiose or exciting on the outside, but trust me– this place is a testament to all other«hole in the wall» restaurants out there.

I feel sorry to have to say this, but I feel like Café Pita is going downhill and trying to stay afloat with all their deals on Amazon Local and . The bf and I came today looking forward to eating the amazing hadzijski cevap again, but this time we came out pretty disappointed. We ordered the hadzijski cevap and the gyro platter, which was supposed to come with mashed potatoes, but we asked to replace it with fries. The waitress told us that they didn’t have mashed potatoes anymore anyway, so I guess it’s good we did that. She gave us the lepija bread when we got our entrees, but I think she only gave us one even there there were two of us. Later, I saw another couple in the restaurant, and they got way more bread than we did. I’m not sure why. But it did come out hot this time, which was nice. The hadzijski cevap this time didn’t have ANY beef kabob in it. It only had cevap. When I asked the waitress about it, she said there was beef kabob in it but in «tiny pieces.» …Umm are they invisible? Because there were none…(I didn;t say this but IShe went back to the kitchen and brought us out a couple pieces of beef kabob, but she kept insisting that that was not how it was done in the past and that it’s always been«tiny pieces.» The gyro was also not very impressive. The fries were super soggy and oily, and the gyro meat was really thin. Meh. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, and maybe they just had a bad day, but I don’t know if I’ll want to come back if they’re skimping on their dishes now.

First visit here and was a little apprehensive when we got there, because we were the only people there at 6pm on a Tuesday. However, we were pleasantly surprised. We started with the Meza Appetizer, which is enough for at least 3 people, if not 4. It was served very quickly. He had the Spinach Burek($ 6.99) and absolutely loved it. It is big enough for two, but he was hungry. I had the Hadzikski Cevap, which is cevapi, beef kabob with vegetables in a tomato broth. It was delicious. The service was quick and friendly. This is the typical ‘hole in the wall’ place that people end of loving after trying for the first time. When you find yourself on Richmond and needing some great food — this is a sure bet.

Would never have tried this place without the gift card, but I’m certainly glad I did. The food is ah-mazing. It’s an unsuspecting little place at the corner of Richmond and Lampasas, just outside the 610 loop on the west side.(Not to be confused with the other Café Pita a block away on Westheimer.) To my knowledge, I’d never had Bosnian food, but I’m down to try anything. Pro Tip: Start with a Cevap(pronounced CHE-VOP). It’s ground beef mixed with flavorful spices in a sausage links style and served with lepinja bread, fresh onions and kajmak(similar to clotted cream). These things are so good. I can’t go without having one. I love ripping off some of the bread, rolling a sausage in it, sprinkling a couple of onions and then dipping in the kajmak. You could get full just on this, but refrain. Share with others and save room for your entrée. I’ve had the lamb chops, which were good, but not great. They were slightly over cooked and a bit on the small side. I’ve yet to try the well-reviewed lamb shank, but I want to at some point. I’ve also had the Hadzijski Cevap, which is a combination of two dishes they’re well known for; cevapi, beef kebab and veggies, sauteed in a light creamy tomato sauce. The flavor was excellent and I loved sopping up the creamy tomato sauce with my lepinja bread. I wish they would’ve included a little more of the beef kebab(2 – 3 small pieces). Finally, the mother off all dishes… I very recently had their Sarma, which is the«stuffed cabbage» everyone has been raving about… Cabbage leaves stuffed with ground beef and rice served with kajmak and lepinja bread. The masses were not wrong, I was pretty full after eating nearly a full Cevap by myself, but this dish is now one of my favorite in Houston. The cabbage and broth are so full of delicious flavor that the meat and rice take a subtle and complimentary back seat while adding sustenance to the dish. I can’t wait to take others here and make them try it. I’ve tried a couple of their pizzas. They’re all pretty standard affair thin crust pizzas, not too filling, but quite serviceable. They’re great as an appetizer for a large group or an entrée for your boring friend who won’t try some of the delicious Bosnian dishes. The only thing I didn’t like on their menu was the fried cheese. Maybe I’m just used to gooey mozzarella, but the consistency was weird to me and nobody in our party really cared for it. I don’t even think we finished it. I’ve never had room for dessert, but I definitely want to try the cheesecake baklava at some point. I agree that they could elevate the experience to a higher level by being a bit more attentive and welcoming, but I also appreciate that they give you enough space to enjoy your meal. INCONCLUSION: Great food, especially if you’re looking for something a little different. The bang for your buck value is also high with great portions. Oh, and did I mention no corking fee? Boom goes the dynamite.

The food is outstanding. The lamb shank is the best I have ever eaten in Houston. The mixed platter is also great. We also ordered lamb chops and it was well-marinated and juicy. We finished our great experience with strawberry-nutella crêpe which was fantastic. The beans soup was nothing special. The decoration is cute but some people may find it discouraging because it looks old. And the downside is the air conditioning. Unpleasant smells are common inside. They should find a way to address this. The waiters are not professional enough. They can elevate the experience to a higher level by being more professional and welcoming.

Saw this place awhile ago and decided to try this place for lunch with a friend. I had never had Bosnian food and was pretty excited to try some. The place has a very homey feel, like you are in someone’s house. I ordered the Sarma(stuffed cabbage leaves) and my friend had the gyro sandwich. The stuffed cabbage was delicious as was the side salad. For dessert, I had the baklava cheesecake which was very unique, yet very good. I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu. My only complaint would be the pesky fly that kept trying to land on my food.

This place was recommended by my friend. Apparently, this restaurant was featured in Triple D(Diners Drive-In, and Dives). This place is definitely a hidden gem in the richmond/galleria area. I would recommend getting the Cevap or Mixed Meat Platter!

We had dinner here with a group of 5 adults and 1 child. I had been wanting to try the place because of the great reviews here and also because there is a playground — nice to have our son occupied while we eat. The food was different — not the usual Middle Eastern type food that I expected(which I love). You can’t beat the price, most dishes around $ 8 – 12. We had the lamb chops, cekap, a tomato cream soup with beef, beef kebab, and chicken kebab. My friend who had the stuffed cabbage leaves probably had the best dish. But the quality of the meat wasn’t great. I’d go for the vegetarian dishes more than meat at this place. Service was nice.

Stopped off here for an $ 8 lunch special: entrée & salad/soup. The food was delicious and authentic. I think. Well, in any case it wasn’t Americanized garbage. I got the creamy chicken. It was like an interesting fusion of goulash and chicken tikka masala. Wait service was quick(ideal for a workday lunch special) and friendly. Bottom Line: I’ll be back for some authentic Bosnian — especially the lunch special.

A very different ethnic flavor zone. Lived in Europe seven years and always enjoyed the style of family restaurant. Similar. No frills but comfortable. We had two different lunch specials and sampled each other’s dish Outstanding food and flavor. Two thumbs up.

Aside from being a stop on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives, Café Pita also just makes me really, really happy because it’s so delicious. A couple years ago, we had a Bosnian friend visiting who had heard about Café Pita from another friend and she was anxious to have Bosnian food for the first time in a year. With her seal of approval, I have also taken people from Belarus and Kosovo who have all loved the variety of recipes that bring back a relatively authentic taste of home(obviously not the same, but surprisingly close). I recommend the Cevap sandwich. It’s Guy Fieri’s recommendation as well, so you can look up the clip on YouTube and see the chef make it! Your plate will come with little sausages/beef, bread, sour cream, and raw onions. Eat with your fingers and rip off pieces of bread to wrap around the meat with sour cream and onion. NOTES: — slow, leisurely meal so don’t plan on rushing out — order coffee and dessert! — lunch specials are about $ 8 and include soup/salad with still tons of food! — usually lunch/dinner costs me $ 10-$ 12, and we always get an appetizer! — don’t expect to eat vegetables or eat ‘light,’ tons of meat and bread! Also, when my Belarusian friend went, it was funny to hear her mom insist that she made better stuffed cabbage and insist on making them for me the next week. ;)

I’ve been to Café Pita on many occasions and ended up going with the lamb shank for the first time this time around. The value you get for $ 11.99 is such a great deal. A large tender lamb shank, potatoes, a heaping plate of rice, and some bread. They sent me a special deal for my birthday so I also got the Tiramisu since the dessert I wanted wasn’t unavailable. While I wasn’t looking forward to ordering an Italian dessert at a Bosnian restaurant, it ended up being really good! The restaurant is small and cozy and eating Bosnian food is a nice treat. Not the usual cuisine we come across every day. I bumped them down a star because the service was slow. The restaurant wasn’t too busy and while the waiter was nice, he definitely could have sped things up quite a bit. With that being said, you can’t beat the prices for some quality and unique cuisine!

I’ve been wanting to try Café Pita for a few years now and finally had a chance for lunch. This is the Café Pita on Richmond with its own parking lot. Upon entering I was greeted by 2 younger friendly women. I enjoyed the atmosphere because it had a nice private yet quaint getaway feeling from the fast paced environment outside. I ordered off the lunch menu which has about 9 – 10 choices all offered with soup or salad for $ 7.99. I was also offered the full menu with all its tempting apps, various pizzas and wonderful other sounding entrees. I ordered the salad sans feta(trying to cut calories –lol) which was very fresh. No complaints. Imagine a salad tasted good without cheese! It worked. My entrée was the Bosnian Musaka with a béchamel sauce. It consisted of layers of eggplant and zucchini topped with seasoned ground beef and béchamel sauce. This was wonderful! Kind of like finding a delicious comfort food without the food coma. My waitress was wonderful. The only thing that was a negative was the fact that my béchamel sauce was a bit over browned and a little chewy on one side. Probably just a minute too long in the oven or under the broiler. Wonderful relaxing lunch with prompt service. I’ll be back to try those pizzas and this wonderful looking bread called lepinja bread. Can’t wait.
