I bought myself a bike for Christmas and needed it assembled ASAP for a decent price. After calling «other» bike shops and being told they were «too busy», I decided to give Bicycle World a try. I called and they told me to come on in. I dropped my bike off at 4PM and it was ready by 530PM. Not only did they put the bike together, but they checked everything down to the nuts and bolts. They plowed me to test ride the bike before I paid to make sure I was satisfied. I am SO HAPPY with the end result. Shoutout to Severin (sp?), he’s so friendly. They’re service department is amazing.

We came back to get our bikes serviced. We thought we’d have to drop them off and pick them up the next day. Nope, they checked everything right then and there. One of our bikes had the tire on wrong and they emphasized how important safety is and re-​taught us how to correctly remove and attach the tires the correct way. That was a close one. The guys who looked at our bikes were very helpful and told us exactly how much air should be in our tires, etc. We were very thankful for this because we are still newbies who have been bike owners for less than 2 months. We really are trying our hardest…

Five stars all the way around. Staffing the right people makes a world of difference. These guys go above and beyond every time I come there. They are friendly and know their product… what else can you ask for?
I’m most impressed with their service department. Severin is a pro in every way. I bought my Cervelo P3 in 2013 (from them) and totaled it about a month ago. He walked me through the insurance process, met with the adjuster, and advised me every step of the way. Then when I bought my new bike, he checked it out, made the necessary adjustments, and gave me some useful insights on the new components.
It’s that level of service that keeps me coming back again and again.

Really disappointed to have to change my review on here. I did a lot of research and picked out the bike that would work best for my 10 mile a day commute. For the first month, I loved my bike ride (sun, wind, rain). I took my bike in to get it tuned up after 45 days as recommended and now my chain grinds. I’ve taken it back there twice and the mechanics say its fixed but it still grinds hard. Very frustrated!

To say that I know absolutely nothing about bikes is an understatement.
I had visited Bicycle World before and was very apprehensive to go back because the last time I was there the person I dealt with made me feel like I should have had more knowledge about bikes in general… I am no Lance Armstrong and all I wanted to find today was a bike that I could use on weekends. I was told by some friends what kind of bike to look for so I had that to work with.
A soon as I walked in Arthur greeted me. He asked what I needed and right away he walked towards a bike that had what I was looking for. He took the time to explain the features of the bike and how it differed from others was well as pros and cons. He waited for me to call friends about it and was very patient thru the entire process. He mentioned he likes to take the time to educate people on what they have/​need so they can have a positive experience with their purchase (that made me feel at ease).
He even made me ride the bike to make sure it was what I wanted. He customized it to my size and showed me all the accessories available for it…
Arthur was so awesome, he even helped me put my bike rack on my car and showed me how to make sure my brand new bike was secure when driving.
Arthur went above and beyond to make sure that I had a pleasant experience today and for that I am eternally grateful. I know that as long as he works there I will not be made to feel ignorant or incompetent about my lack of knowledge bc I know he will take the time to educate me on whatever issue should arise.

In my opinion this is the best bikeshop in the country. The people are super friendly and very accommodating. Great people great products great location.

I would not recommend this store to anyone unless I really hate the guy enough to send him for a bad experience.
I am a beginer in road bike stuff. I purchase online at a store for a very good deal. However I failed to pick the right size n immediately corrected, and they offered an exchange. What I did not know was the ups guy mixed up and dropped me the one I intended to return, and he returned the right sized one for me out of good will. So I ended up with a bike too big for me n I did not realize. I went into this shop on memorial which is the closest store to my house, first when I ordered the bike carrier for my jeep, I thought I might want the store to order for me so they could walk me through on how everything works, I prepaid for the whole thing. Three weeks past I did not get a call from the store. I showed up n it had been there they forgot about it. No one is perfect, I thought. Then I asked for fitting, n made an appointment. On the day I walked in with my bike bought online elsewhere, a young man looked at my bike and told me to get it built at the store. It was a 75 dollar before tax deal. Ok so I did. then the young man pointed at a shelf of pedals and they were all around double the prices from online stores. So I asked him why should I buy there now that the bike «build» will take another week. The young man replied: «I am standing here offering a service!» Really what service was that, reaching to the shelf? I can do that myself. So I left n bought one online of same thing for half of that price.
Then it became clear after I picked up the bike «built» for me, the size of the bike was too big for me. It was simply not possible for the young man to have that bike fitted for me without hurting my back and legs on that bike for long rides on the roads…
So if that was the guy doing fitting for quite a price, after he directed me for built at his store and tried to sell me pedals at double price, knowing it was a wrong size, I would really doubt if I want to have anything to do with this «neighborhood store»! Then other other side of this, if he genuinely had no idea this size looked wrong, then how good was he for a fitting guy for the store? Either way this is a store I would definitely stay away.
When you walk into a bike store, you would typically see the culture of the gang: at many stores you could tell it is a bunch of cool guys relaxed and working really well with each other n you could blend in easily. Well not at this store. So my advise is to walk around a couple of stores and feel it first before you ask about any questions.
There are other stores where they offer real professional knowledges and shared without trying to sell you anything. I have experienced two places which I will share in separate reviews.
I was kidding about sending people I hate to here, as I don’t hate anyone. But hey if you do, this might be some you could use

I drive by Bicycle World every day, it’s so close to my house, yet I drive out of my way to take my bikes to Bike Barn because I will never give this place my business again after the way I was treated here. A couple of years ago my wife’s Gary Fisher mountain bike needed new tires and a tuneup, and I also brought my then-​11 year old stepson’s bike to get the kickstand and some spokes fixed. It is the kind of bike you would get for an 11 year old boy who is rough on things and tends to forget to lock up his bike and leaves it unattended — cheap and sturdy, which means it’s going to be heavy. It also was bright yellow and «Hummer» branded, it was what an 11 year old picked out from the choices. I brought both bikes into Bicycle World and back to the repair shop. The tall balding man working back there lifted my stepson’s bike and said in a loud voice «oh, God, this thing’s HEAVY!» and then added «oh, and look at that, HUMMER,» sarcastically, and continued to fiddle with various things on it and make more obnoxious comments about it. Then he shouted across the store to the employee working the retail counter who was in the middle of serving another customer «HEY, COME TAKE A LOOK AT THIS ‘HUMMER’ BIKE, THIS THING’S HUGE!» I wish now I had told the guy off and taken the bikes elsewhere, but I was raised not to return rudeness with more rudeness, and I was on my lunch break and didn’t want to mess with loading them on my car and take them somewhere else. One of the unfortunate aspects of the cycling hobby is gear snobs, but I really don’t understand why anyone would think it is a good business practice to humiliate his paying customers in front of other customers just to show off his gear snobbery about a children’s bike. Never going back.

The people at Bicycle World of Houston make the difference. Everyone I spoke with exceeded expectations. Everyone took their time to answer my questions and make me feel confident in my purchase. I was actually worried about who I would eventually purchase from in the store because everyone had been very patient with me. Learning that commission is not an issue made me even more confident in the information I was being provided. I got the bike that was right for me, not the bike that was right for the sales person’s commission bonus.
Visited other bicycle stores and Houston and was not impressed. Pushy sales teams, poor selection, made to feel dumb or just ignored.
I have been raving about my experience and am ready to bring my friends in with me.

Shop is clean and well laid out. Location is good. Staff didn’t attack me when walking in which gave me time to browse without someone tagging along trying to sell me something. Had a good look at the mountain bikes of which they had 2 or 3 on the floor for under $ 1K. The rest were all over $ 2,500 — many marked as being on clearance. (Up to 1K off the originally price.) Seemed like a high-​end shop or you had to know what you want so they could order it. Kind of hard to do order one when you cant see /​don’t know what you want. I ended up going somewhere else.

I have to travel frequently in my work. I decided on a Thursday evening that I wanted to purchase a new bicycle for my wife and have it delivered, fully assembled, in time for Mother’s Day (i.e, the following Sunday).
It isn’t easy to find a quality bicycle shop that will deliver a fully assembled bicycle to your home on short order. In fact, I found that this is pretty hard to do (even in Houston — a «can do» kind of city).
Fortunately, I found Bicycle World, definitely a «can do» kind of bicycle shop.
Bicycle World of Houston came through for me. They had a good selection of bicycles in stock at good prices and helped me select one over the phone.
Full assembly and home delivery were available and provided on the schedule initially promised.
A store with staff & service I can rely on is one worth remembering.
We will definitely be purchasing more bicycles from Bicycle World.

My husband and I came here to find out about a bike that my husband was thinking of buying. It’s the trance Giant 27.5 Large. My husband is being very smart in researching on which bike he should buy.
We walked in 10 minutes before closing and he talked with a guy named Matt. We didn’t know they closed at 7 pm but Matt was very nice and he said, «it’s no problem stay as long as you like» so my husband and Matt ended up talking for more than an hour. He recommended him to get the giant and let him test drive the bike.
Let me tell you this Matt guy is beyond times 5 full on knowledgable about all types of bikes it was amazing hearing them go at it, because my husband knows a lot about bikes and every question he asked even about the suspension this guy knew exactly what he was talking about. I learned a lot just by the conversation they had haha. The place over all was nice and neat and they mean business. They worked out a deal so he can get the bike he wants, but they didn’t have the large they only had the medium and the extra large. So they have to order it unfortunately it would take like 10 weeks gosh. So now my husband may not get the bike after all. That’s too long to wait. He can just get the same bike at another bike shop that has it available. He really wants the bike now hahaha.
Overall I recommend this place to everyone.

I bought a bike from the West U store in December after visiting half a dozen bike stores in Houston. Being a newbie to road biking I felt more welcomed (less judged) at some other than others. At the West U store they were great and helpful but that’s not what we are here to talk about.
Living closer to the Memorial/​Dairy Ashford location, I took my bike there to get it fitted. I came once and they were friendly/​polite enough but nothing out of the ordinary. I had to return a second time to get a new seat post that they ordered for me/​finish the fitting. At that second fitting, Erique helped me for over an hour and was so great. The bike fits much better and when he so astutely picked up on how I was nervous about the seat height (I’m a newbie to road biking, remember) he took me to the paved area behind the store and made me conquer my fears and gave me great tips. And they even let my dog in the store and gave him water! Anyone that is nice to my dog is ok in my book!

I took my bike in for routine maintenance prior to going out of town. I get home, I get the kids settled, I am unpacking and «Oh crap! It’s 6:05 PM and I just remembered my bike!» I had plans to meet a big group the next morning at 7AM. I quickly called the shop which had closed at 6PM that night, I explained that I had a group ride in the morning and that I needed my bike. The guys stayed at the shop and waited for me to arrive. When I got there, they unlocked the door, got my bike for me, and loaded it on my rack. That is the kind of bike shop I want to give my business to! Thanks Bicycle World!

Guys here are awesome, I came in with a broken tire hub inner assembly and they fixed it for me for 10 $ something that could have cost a bucket load somewhere else… guy even set my bike up for 30 $

Its a big bike store with big prices.

I go in to look for a set of Cletes for my Shimano SPD pedals. The kid in there says he’ll check the back stock as there aren’t any in front.
15 minutes later he emerges. «Nope, sorry, we’re out…» (long pause)
OK, how about the other store??? «Oh, yeah, he says maybe they have them…» (long pause again)
How about calling them and checking, Sparky?
«Oh, yeah!» calls and says there is one pair, then leaves. He could have had them sent over to this shop, but it probably would have cut into his texting time. So, NO SALE. I went somewhere else.
Additionally, I ask about chain stays and bottom bracket guards, you know, the stuff mountain bikers use and go through from riding a lot… Nope, out of stock on everything.
They have a lot of high end stuff, carbon fiber water bottle cages and $ 399.00 helmets, but basics, fresh out.
If these guys and gals want to run a bike store, they seriously need to re-​check their inventory, but looks like they cater to the corporate bikers with lots of cash and not a lot of sense.
I’ll take my business elsewhere

I went to the Bicycle World off Rice and it was the worst experience in customer service ever! I went for a return/​exchange and the guy was a jerk. Even though I had the receipt, he said he could not return it because it was 3 months old and from the store on Memorial. At least give me store credit. Then the guy said he would try to get the Memorial store to fax over the original copy of the receipt…30 minutes went by and that never happened. The guy working would go to the back of the store, which I assume was where the fax machine was, and then come back and start unloading things.
I decided to ask him for my receipt and product back and left the store. I would not recommend this place to anyone! Bike Barn was a convenient place to go to also in Rice Village but they moved. They always had nice staff to help you out.
Also, parking is bad.
