It started as something the hotel couldn’t help. Weather knocked out their internet and phone lines so they didn’t receive my reservation via Orbitz. Fine, the lady says they match any deal on … but the website was timing out on my phone… Fine, I’ll just buy a separate room… but the desk says won’t give me any discount or break even after showing them the price online… After an hour of hassle, I start looking up rooms at any hotel near this one because I’m exhausted, and all of a sudden, they can match the Orbitz price. THEN, I have to call Orbitz 3 times to get my refund from them because the hotel is telling Orbitz that 1) there is a no refund policy and, 2) Their ‘system’ is down… 3 days later… I finally got my refund from Orbitz because they worked with me but there were at least 5 times the hotel could have stepped in to improve the situation but chose not to.

Typical hotel. Nothing overwhelming about it. No courtyard or relaxing place to sit outside. The pool area is at the entrance so that wouldn’t be a good place to unwind. That being said I still enjoyed my stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The free breakfast was good. Eggs, sausage, toast, muffins and about 5 different kinds of cereal. But the waffle maker was the best! Location of the hotel is great, right off I45. Best part is there’s a Cracker Barrel next door!

During reservations period as I called the hotel the lady I spoke to never reveiled her name. She was nice enough but seemed rather overworked as she was doing dishes when I was trying to make a reservation. Apon trying to cancel the room due to strep throat the same lady answered. She informed me that there was a 24 hour cancellation policy and that I would not be able to cancel because it was 9am the same day. I told her there was plenty of time in the day to rerent the room and I was sick and offered a Dr’s note. She said no and quickly transferred me to another phone without stating so and I got voicemail. I called back asked why she would transfer me without telling me she was going to do so and she got annoyed with me. I asked her to take a message for her manager and have him call me back. The manager called me at 2pm and said there was nothing he could do about my full charge. I told him I had strep and could not travel. I called first thing in the morning and I expected as most hotels would do not to charge me. He said no and I told him that was OK and I would Unilocal his hotel write the hotels owner and corporate. He said he would charge me half of the total for a cancellation fee. I said ok and I would still do the same and that I would not use a Best Western again for travel. He nastily said that he would not charge me and cancel the reservation and promptly hung up on me. I still may never use Best Western especially this one in Houston. Now off to take a nap and get rid of this strep. Hope my credit card doesnt have a charge on it tomorrow or there will be a part 2 for this review.
