Baylor St. Luke’s Emergency Center-Holcombe

PLEASE DON’T GO HERE!!! I went here on ⁹⁄₃₀ with a debilitating migraine. They got me in quickly; I was out in about 2 hours after receiving 3 IV meds and 1 IV fluids; nothing else. BUT what they charged was OUTRAGEOUS! Total charge of $ 3,032!!! I had no idea that this visit would be so expensive. They give you no idea what to expect, you’re just at their mercy because they are an «emergency room». Now after 2 weeks of phone calls, disconnections, arguments and repeatedly hearing there is nothing they can do; I can only pay up or be turned over to a collection agency. They will start hounding you for payment before you even get a detailed statement! Next time… well…there won’t be a next time for me.
Please note they are NOT a part with the Kelsey Seybold Clinic (the building connected to them), who are a very fine clinic!!!

I took my dad there last night at 7 to deal with an issue with his catheter. The man who checked us in was completely incompetent and could barely use a computer key board. I told him what was wrong three times and he could not understand detailed or a simple issue like a problem with the catheter. Anyway we got checked in. The waiting area was full. There was elderly lady there who had a recently fall and was injured on her face and had a problem with her cast. Her hand was getting blue and they had been waiting 2 hours to see someone. She finally got up and said she was leaving and only then did they get a nurse to see her. The 2 people dealing with insurance and billings had no sense of customer service or care and should never be allowed to work in such a place. Anyway, I saw what was happening and left riggt away and took dad to another emergency room in the Rice Village where we were seen by a nurse and doctor and the problem fixed in less than 30 min. We will never ever go this place again. I would recommend Elite Care Emergency center in the Rice Village. It is 5 min away and they are so professional and nice to deal with. I am glad we left the St. Luke’s emergency center.

The most incompetent workers of all time. To make matter worst, they are unfriendly. Went in for an emergency and the lady had me updating all of my emergency contacts and all this random information before getting someone to see me. After a 2 hour wait when nobody was even waiting but me someone gets me and starts doing the routine check in. This guy was obviously overworked because he had an attitude. The thing that threw me was that I had a technician come in to my room 3 times about to get me tests for the wrong patient. I left before I let them frustrate me anymore. On top of everything, the incompetent lady at the desk wasn’t able to find my insurance info in their system so I couldn’t even leave easy. I called their insurance people and they gave me the run around until finally locating my provider. I am now waiting for a bill for service they didn’t provide

The nurses and doctor were very professional. This review is solely for the checkout clerk. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. I dont even know her name because she didn’t introduce herself. She was a young Hispanic pregnant lady. If you’re pregnant, it doesn’t give you the right to be unprofessional, impatient, and disrespectful. The situation started when she was explaining my insurance benefits and I told her I was confused since it was my first visit at this location and she proceeded to ask me questions regarding what the check in clerk stated to me in a very unprofessional manner. At that moment I realized that I needed to stay calm and asked her to please give me a minute (I wanted to clear my thoughts and not get upset at her rudeness); however, she proceeded to tell me that she is about to explain everything again in a very rude tone. I asked her to please give me a minute, again, because I didn’t like the manner in which she was talking to me. After a couple of minutes, I asked her to please give my paperwork to someone else so someone else can check me out to avoid the situatuon from escalating. She was still rude.
The other checkout clerk/​administrator, Nicole, was very professional because she was patient, thorough, and polite.
I WILL NEVER COME TO THIS LOCATION EVER IN LIFE!!! I will call my insurance, contact management over that section/​division, and let my coworkers know not to come here (which is over 100 people)

They are open 24 hours. We went on a Sunday afternoon and was admitted immediately. The front counter staff was super friendly and the doctor was awesome. Insurance was not a problem.

Very good hospital. The Dr. Was very nice (nicest doctor I ever had) the nurses were polite. I had to go in because I had a horrible rash all around my body, they were all very professional. I will definitely go back to this hospital. I was not disappointed.

BEWARE IF YOU RECEIVE STITCHES! Were told by several staff members, on two separate occasions, that stitch removal for stitches received at St. Luke’s Community Emergency Center-​Holcombe two weeks earlier, would not cost anything but supplies. Imagine the shock when we were billed $ 203 for the use of the room, and $ 288 for the physician (a nurse actually removed them)! The stitch removal supplies were only $ 4. We made a complaint to Patient Services and they were very nice to take our complaint. We even received a nice, personal letter stating we would still be responsible for the entire bill, but that they would try to improve communication at the facility. Wow. The actual medical staff was great. We have used this facility every time we have had an after hours «emergency.» We have never had any complaints. This was the first time for stitches. Needless to say, we would have gone to the pediatrician for stitch removal and paid our doctor copay (considerably less than what St. Luke’s CEC charged) if we had been given better info. with which to make an informed decision. We will still use this facility, but will never return to have stitches removed. WE FEEL COMPLETELY DECEIVED!

I came to have an abscess lanced & every other medical personnel @ Kelsey Seybold I had been to kept giving me the run around.
Not them they just went in & took care of it. They were very kid and gentle with me.
I greatly appreciated their care and service.

Just got out of here. Very quick, no wait, very attentive staff… I love this place! The only problem is that my co-​pay was higher using this place instead of a regular ER. But that is not their problem, it is mine. If you are concerned about that, then check your insurance plan first.

Let’s all thank Sean for ruining my chance at a truly awesome 100^th. But, what the hay… At least it’ll be memorable. I bet even scarring.
After suffering a horrific injury upon falling from a bike, I needed to take my husband to the ER. Sadly, we are among the vast populace of uninsured. So, nightmarish break or not, we opted for the Urgent Care clinic over the standard ER in an effort to save time and money, but mostly money.
We were triaged immediately upon «walking» in. While they were checking Sean’s stats, I sat with the administration personnel who kept me busy with questions for no more than 5 minutes. I only had to sign my name twice. Damned I just thought of it. I should have given a false name and address. POOP!!! Oh wait, I’m not a thief. Sorry, off point. Immediately after assessing him in triage, he was moved to a room. The doctor came in saying, «I’ve got to see this, how the hell’d you mess yourself up so bad by falling off a bicycle??» At first the doctor thought they would just set it, but upon further visual examination he thought it would require surgery. After getting the x-​rays, which confirmed his diagnosis, Sean was transferred to the main hospital by ambulance. No horns and flashers though. Bummer.
I reduced the rating by 1 star due to the fact that I had to assist the x-​ray tech with moving my husbands leg around and whatnot which was mentally and physically strenuous not to mention that it gave me the heebeegeebees. I had to hold back the urge to up chuck numerous times just at the thought of what was moving around under his skin. Also, I was really worried that I would contribute to further injury. I suggest that they have a member of the nursing staff assist with these matters in the future.
But, the staff was prompt, thorough, and kind. They attended to his physical needs as well as continued to monitor his pain levels and increased his morphine dose based upon his increasing pain. They were courteous to me and I felt great about the level of care we received over all. I can’t say that about 99% of the emergency rooms I’ve been in.

When I was pregnant and constantly hospitalized, I found out quickly which hospitals/​clinics/​ERs were good and which ones to avoid. This Urgent Care Center was quicker than most ER’s and still friendly and receptive. The waiting room was small, but not filled to the brim! They even let me lay down to wait til someone could see me and to get me away from the coughing kids. How nice! I did have an issue with the billing later, but they resolved it quickly instead of dragging it out for months like someplaces!
