Picked up some decals for my garage — decals are for boys and stickers are for girls, LOL! Very cool clerk helped me get the right era patches for the walls that really helped pay tribute to the«greatest generation.» God Bless America!

I need to be upfront here and admit that, until now, I’ve never been to an Army surplus store. I did go through a period in high school where I wore my dad’s old Army jacket with my Doc Martens, but after that, I never felt the need to acquire more military gear. My husband, on the other hand, loooooves the Army surplus stores for their utilitarian shirts and interesting tees. He’s not into the camo thing, or the survivalist thing, but if you happen to be into that, a surplus store is the place for you(and you probably already know about this store anyway)! There were shelves lined with military manuals from the British army… Swedish army food tins… inert hand grenades… baby camo tees in green and pink… coffee mugs… hats…backpacks…lots and lots of «I support our troops» stickers, flags, shirts, etc. Then the pants, shirts, jackets, boots and all from each branch of the military. There were some scary flags on the wall, like the«Kill ‘em all, let God sort ‘em out» flag with bloody skull and crossbones. We were interested in the backpacks, and immediately found the coolest vintage backpack, that unfortunately broke while I was carrying it around(metal fatigue, it WAS old). Hubby found another backpack that he liked, plus a t-shirt and a thick, black longsleeve deal with many pockets. While Army Surplus isn’t exactly my cup of tea, there WERE some cool finds and the customer service was remarkable. We were welcomed as soon as we entered the store, and staff was attentive but not pushy. Best of all, the man working there, who was big and muscular with military tats, stopped to coo at my son, «Oh my god, look at those cheeks! Those legs! Those dimples! I wanna eat him up, he’s so cute!!!» Now y’all know I love it when people fawn over my kids, but when it comes from somewhere unexpected like a muscleman at the Army surplus store, I love it. I’m a sucker for unexpected twists. Anyway, I loved the staff here and would go back on account of them even if we hadn’t found some cool items for hubby’s Father’s Day gift.
