My only complaint is that I have to drive 30MILES to get there. Open one on the sw side already! I love everything there

As someone who has never had Mexican breads, I found most of the items in the bins to be bland and greasy. The paper bags were grease-stained after two days. There isn’t much in terms of healthy breads. Most of the items were essentially just white flour baked into different shapes. Most items didn’t taste that much different from each another. The tres leches cakes were a little better. Soaked in sweet milk, you can think of them as wet cake. The flan was good, although mine came on top of a layer of dry chocolate cake that I did’t care for. If I ever did come back, I would just get plain flan. But to be honest, I would rather spend my white flour carb calories somewhere else… like Shipley’s or Krispy Kreme.

I absolutely love this bakery! I’ve been going since I was pretty young & I have yet to be disappointed with all the deliciousness I find(not to mention the kick butt prices. a little $ goes a long way: D!!). I don’t ever recall trying something that didn’t strike my fancy. They have bolillos and loads of other breads for my non-sweet moods & oh so many desserts & sweet breads for when I need to indulge my sweet tooth. I have some Persian relatives that come in once a year and the first thing they ask for are the marranitos. We have to order a pretty good amount because of how quickly they go through them. Best part is, I’ve always been helped by super nice & helpful people. Only problem I’m having at the moment is that I’m craving their tres leches cake(w/strawberries) after writing all this & imagining the smells & flavors of being in there :)))))) –drool–

buy bread and I remain in this place! very bad attention, the incompetent Manager, very incompetent general manager, did not give me cheese, they charged me everything! I returned home and I realized! When I returned to the store said that not be made responsible for! and they have cameras, but they can not check them! I definitely do not recommend this place!

Muchas Gracias!

Just left Arandas with 2 bags of pan dulce for only 8 $…this place is always stocked with the yummiest sweet bread. They have a wide variety and the service is definitely customer friendly, not to mention their cakes are really good too and cheap. We bought a tres leches cake last month which was really good as well, they even decorated the cake exactly how we wanted, no if’s, ands or buts. We will definitely be back for more.

If you have a sweet tooth and can’t decide on just what your pastry of choice would be… then this is the place to come. This bakery is truly amazing for all their pastries, breads, cakes, and even tamales. They have endless options to choose from so be prepared to fill up your tray and share. I’ve had their chocolate covered strawberries which are really great. They also have a variety of other options like fruit pies, tarts, jello cakes and rice pudding cups. The staff is always so friendly and ready to assist in any way. I do have to mention that even though they have a great selection of cakes to me they are not the best in quality. What I mean is that they are made very delicious but as far as the art and decorations are not always the best so don’t expect what you asked for. Not saying it’s completely bad but there are better spots out there. From experience I’ve had a couple of cakes made here and I wasn’t impressed. Aside from that this bakery gets alot of traffic which I think is due to people actually getting the word out on how good it is with their hot bread. Just go and visit once and you’ll want to come back for more.

There is only 1 person that I would make the trek to this bakery, my dad! My dad must have bread every morning for breakfast and a lot of the times he will settle for the mediocre pastries he can find at HEB. Since he lives in Sugarland, there are no mexican bakeries around. So when I get a phone call from him I know its time to make the trek. Quite honestly they have the best mexican bread and the best tres leches. It is a self serve bakery and the bread is really good when it is fresh. If the bread has been sitting there for more than a day then it is ok. They are usually good about restocking it daily. I’m not sure what the actual names of the breads are but I love the white concha, the little pig shaped bread, the ojarascas, the cuernitos, and the red coconut ball. It tends to get very crowded when the temperature falls as us mexicans like to eat sweet bread with la abuelita hot chocolate! If you are not mexican, befriend one, we will show you a good time and good bread!

I went here when I was in town for the Thanksgiving 2014 weekend. Overwhelming, wonderful selection of baked goods. Walls of illuminated cases, each filled with 5 or 6 trays of beautiful, fresh, warm baked goods. Sort of a Willy Wonka experience for pastry. You pick up a(large) metal tray, and go case to case, selecting your pastry and adding them to the tray. My favorites were the churros, one end of which was dipped in chocolate. At the checkout counter, they also have freshly made, warm tamales. I bought a fairly packed tray of baked goods and a dozen tamales and I think the total bill was just $ 26! Great place, and I’ll certainly be back the next time I’m in Houston!

Great variety of sweet bread! You find a lot of stuff here you don’t find at other bakeries! Wish customer service was alittle better but hey working all day behind a counter can be a pain

Arandas Bakery has it together. While I don’t believe they have the best Mexican bread bakery, the place is really clean. Moreover, they have tamales, sodas, homemade tortillas and La Abuelita hot chocolate. They have a machine where you can get different types of coffee, including coffee mixed with hot chocolate. What the bakery needs is high stools with chairs for people to enjoy their bread at the store. More than once I’ve wanted to enjoy my bread right there instead of in my car, where I get lots of sugar on the seat. Please take heed manager, and add some tables and chairs. If you think you don’t have enough space, try putting a bar-like table with stools next to the window.

I’ve had tres leches cake from several places but here it’s the best hands down! It’s the perfect amount of milk, not too moist, not too dry; how tres leches is suppose to be. My family has been getting birthday cakes from here for about 8 years, they have never failed us. And pricing is very reasonable, can’t go wrong. We usually get the $ 30 square cake which feeds about 40 people. Our usual is the fruit filled but last cake we ordered we took a big risk by changing it up from our norm… Coffee filling. Essentially the cake is submerged in coffee. Delicious. It was a true hit at our celebration.

If you’ve never been to a Mexican bakery, this is the place I would start off with. You walk in, grab a metal tray, and a set of tongs. Walking around to all the stations, you pick out whatever you want, and when done you take your tray to the cashier. I love this place because they have everything from hot and fresh donuts, to churros relleno, to fresh flour and corn tortillas! Always hot, always fresh, always tasty.

A great place that has become a Sunday ritual. The selection is superb and the prices are usually fantastic(for some reason, the iced cookies are an exception at over $ 2 each). The tamales are a welcome addition at a great price(the same tamales in the ‘burbs will run you at least twice the price).

Pretty nice bakery– huge building but surprisingly a lot of empty space inside that could be occupied by more pastries. You say MORE pastries?!? Yes. MORE. Sure, they have a large selection. But yet they still lack some of my favorites! I did enjoy quite a few offerings here, like the cherry filled pastry, the sweet bread, and the chocolate croissant. But I’m sad to say that their cream filled donut was terrible. The cream was lumpy– more like a tapioca pudding consistency. Too bad! Their prices are also a bit higher than other similar bakeries. The parking lot is big though and the place is clean. I really wanted this to be my go-to bakery. But for now, Tierra Caliente still wins(Even though some of their workers are rude– to Spanish speakers nonetheless! Help me find another bakery!).
