Apsara Eyebrow Spa & Salon

Terrible! This review is regarding her Sara’s Brow threading training. It was a awful experience. The ONE day class cost $ 500. The class including a training certificate, light lunch, and brow threading kit. At the end of the class none of the above was given. The owner Sara said that we would receive all of the previous mentioned materials by Wednesday, however the items were never sent. We also sat in a dingy hotel behind her business for the theory portion of the training. The theory was lacking information regarding the process of hair removal. She stated we would learn several different styles of threading we learned three. We had about a hour of actual hand on training. She dismissed class early stated she had another class to teach in Ohio. When I called the spa to follow up, her staff said that she was gone, they did not know where she was nor when she would return. When I call her cell phone it goes straight to voicemail. It is terrible, her business is not clean nor professional. I do not encourage anyone to do any kind of business with her under any circumstances.

Very overpriced. $ 10 for «touchup» and $ 25 for eyebrow shaping or whatever is ridiculous. And $ 50 for full face…$ 10 just for upper lip?! LOL. Nothing about their threading service justifies the price. There are plenty of places on Hilcroft (which is less than 10 minutes away) that are much chapter. Heck there are places that charge $ 4 for eyebrows and do an amazing job!

I really, really love this salon. Mamta is awesome. While I had a few situations before that were not perfect, I feel that I could have made better decisions (the bleeding was caused by the fast return to the salon on my part; I think she had to try extra hard to grasp the hair, and that left me a little sore/​red.).
Also, in my lifetime, I’ve had MANY waxes and some threadings. The waxes almost always end up having a red/​raw spot. It scabs and it goes away, not a big deal. I hate that, but perhaps it’s my sensitive skin. In times past, I’ve used retinols, and that also can be a detriment.
The atmosphere is definitely quaint, but for some reason, I love it and find it cozy. I am not a fan of luxe-​overly-​attentive salons. I just feel really strange when being waited upon in a really extreme way. I’d rather sit quietly than be required to make conversation, etc. I also dislike when there are super pretentious people around, which again, isn’t the case here. But the work they do? it’s definitely worthy of the most pretentious women IMO. Especially the threading.

Some of my major pro’s would be that my anemic/​scraggly brows were shaped beautifully by the artist, and she really made them seem instantly better. She also did a bang trim for me, which I appreciated and needed. She also threaded my upper lip.
I love the overall result, but I have a few downsides:
1. the cost does seem a bit elevated, based on the overall appearance and feel of the salon (not high-​end at all, not luxury);
2. the 2^nd time I had my brows threaded, I had scars/​blood spots for days after, and that was painful and embarrassing. I didn’t have that the first time. I think i went too quickly after the first time, or I wasn’t quite ready for another threading.
The main positives are the friendly woman who runs the salon, the time being usually instant (not having to wait), the location for me is excellent, and the fact that she can do a lot of different services.

Really $ 25 for eyebrows… I walked in and out… I know so many other places that do eyebrows for way less and they do an amazing job!

Wish I could give this place –stars! For a mediocre eyebrow shaping, they charged me $ 25!!! Never coming back here.

I drove by here several times and noticed they were a threading salon so I thought it must be THE best for that service.
Since then, Ive been here a few times to get my eyebrows threaded. For sure they do a much better job with SHAPING than Aishas of Hilcroft. Having said that they charge a grip! $ 25 for eyebrow threading. I dont think they are THAT good. And believe me I have paid $ 25 at a salon i used to goto in Toronto, now THAT was worth it.
Even though the past 3 times I have gone to get my eyebrows done here, I always feel a little nervous. I am not completely comforable with the possible results.
What I dont like is that they always try to push this package on you. If I say no, or that Ill think about it, you can stop there.
What I really dont like is that you cant just come in to just get your eyebrows clean up as most places for around $ 8, you still have to pay the full $ 25.
I’m going to do my research on eyebrow threading/​SHAPING in town and see where I can go thats actually WORTH the $$$$.

I’ve been going to this salon for a few years even before they opened this location in the galleria area. Mamta is the best person when it comes to threading my brows. I only go in when she works. They do charge a lot for eyebrow threading so I buy the unlimited eyebrow pass. It’s 300 dollars per year. At least now I can come as often as I want. I always get compliments on how clean and sculptured my eyebrows look. It’s because of Mamta that I pay that amount! She is so sweet and listens to what you want. She also knows all her clients by name. Sara, the owner is also nice. She always greets me when she’s there. I will continue to visit this salon as long as Mamta is there!

I’ve been going to Apsara to have my eyebrows threaded for years, starting with the one on Hillcroft, which originally charged $ 5. When the Sage location opened, the price was steeper ($ 15) but the location was convenient so I was happy to pay a little extra. Last time I went, though, they charged $ 25 to «reshape» my eyebrows because I hadn’t been in for awhile. This «reshaping» took equally as much time to complete as a «regular» threading session — maybe 5 minutes. $ 25 is an absolutely absurd amount to pay for this service and I will NEVER go back! If you’re looking for a good, reasonably priced place to have your eyebrows threaded, try Aisha’s on Westheimer and Augusta. Your eyebrows will be better shaped and more defined for the reasonable price of only $ 8.

The reviews on this place surprise me. I have been in here a few times for threading and have always had great results. I’m very, very picky about my eyebrows and have had trouble finding a regular threader but everyone I’ve tried here has been great.

I randomly drove by and stopped in to get my eyebrows threaded, I had a girl named Mamla do it and she did a BEAUTIFUL job! I am going back today to see her again before I go on vacation.

I contacted Aspara about doing the henna for my henna party and was quoted a price and thatwe had over 50 guests that my bridal henna would be discounted. I made an appointment to meet with her in person. When we discussed the henna in person, Sangeeta quoted us a price per hand 8 dollars more than what she had said on the phone. I agreed because she said even if we had more guest arrive that expected (75) that the price would not go up. It was agreed that guests could get both hands done with as intricate designs as they wanted. We set the date and paid a deposit. We also agreed to 4 henna artists — two artists were to arrive early to start on my bridal henna and be done before any of the guests arrived so that there would be enough artists for the guests. Unfortunately, she no longer offered the discount for my bridal henna. My henna did not end up staining dark so I went to the salon to voice my concerns. I asked for a trial with the artist and she did a gorgeous design on my hand & the henna stained very well. On the before my henna party Sangeeta called to tell us she was on her way to our house for the henna party! THEY HAD WRITTEN DOWN THE WRONG DATE! On the day of my henna party the artists were to arrive before the party to get started on my henna. They called and said that they were going to have to arrive even earlier. I guess normally this wouldn’t be too much of a problem, but it was for us because me, my bridal party, and mom were at the nail salon getting manicures and pedicures — we still needed to finish up and get home to get ready! We rushed home and I rushed to get dressed. After all this, they still had not shown up! We kept calling and calling and no one would answer our phone calls! We were so worried. Alas, they arrived and by the time they did they were later than the original time we had set up!!! So they basically rushed us out of the salon to hurry and get dressed only to be later than the original time! When they finally did arrive there were only TWO henna artists! We COULD NOT believe it! And worst of all the henna artist I got the trial from was not even there! And only one of the artists knew how to do designs, she was horrible, and it was really embarrassing to have her doing designs at my party! I could have done better designs than the other artist and I have never done henna before!!! One henna artist begins on my henna and guests start arriving. At this point Sangeeta has the nerve to come up to me and say that if guests get two hands done that she is going to charge me $ 15 p/​hand, instead of $ 15 for both as we had agreed! I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT! I was so pissed. I told the henna artist to make sure she only did one hand on each person and no matter what not to do two hands unless they were family or the bridal party, and the henna artist still did two hands on people! More and More guests arrived and they just sat around because we only had one artist doing people’s hands!!! We were FURIOUS! We called Sangeeta and informed her that the party was almost over and ¾ of the people did not get their henna done. She arrived approximately an hour later and began doing people’s hands herself — and she sucks at henna artistry! When everybody was finally done she came up to me and gave me a almost empty tube of henna and told me it was for me to do touch ups. She then told me to use it to write my name on my husband’s palm. She then called my husband over and wrote my name on his palm in horrible handwriting. She then had the nerve to tell me that she was not going to charge me $ 15 for her writing my name on his palm like she was doing me a favor! WTF? I couldn’t believe her!!! She ended up charging me for each hand of each person and we did not get the bundle deal she had promised! What she did is crazy!

I went to this Salon because I could not get my eyebrows done at Anastasia Brow Studio in Nordstrom’s. Well, I certainly paid the price for not being patient. I saw Apsara on the way there and decided to go there. After all, an entire salon dedicated to grooming eyebrows must be reputable right? Absolutely not. The service was poor. The girl who did my eyebrows could barely speak understandable english and was quite rough for my taste. The look of the place is sub-​par from the outside and inside leaves much to be desired. I did not like the way she did my eyebrows because no thought was given to my face shape and how my eyebrows should be threaded to enhance my looks. Instead, it was as if she did the default eyebrow that I should be satisfied with. I was charged $ 25 for a crappy eyebrow-​threading and shoddy eyebrow massage with cheap lotion. NEVER AGAIN! Trust me when I say, do not attend this salon. Now I have to wait 2 months again, to get my eyebrows reshaped to fit my face.

When I first came to Houston, this place was a salon with a few day spa services. Of course I was disappointed when it changed ownership and no longer offered the salon services I was wanted. However, Apsara is an EXCELLENT threading salon.
Threading is a technique that originated from the Middle East that women (and men) use to remove unwanted hair on their eyebrows, face, arms, etc. I have extremely sensitive skin and cannot use wax to shape my eyebrows, but I am a fan of threading.
What I like about Apsara is that the women there are highly skilled in the technique of threading and they know how to shape your eyebrows based on your face shape and your facial features. For threading services, I HIGHLY recommend Apsara.

Very dissatisfied with the way business is run.

This eyebrow «spa» gives you the option of getting your 7^th service of a number of beauty procedures free. You are given a card to keep track of the number of times you’ve had whichever service done. This is a common practice among the Indian threading salons and it works well but here’s my problem with this particular place…
I have gotten my eyebrows done there a total of 3 times. The first 2 times I had them done by Nadia and Yashoda and they each initialed my card. The third time the owner herself, Sangeeta Dua, did my eyebrows. When it came time to initial my card she totally disregarded the previous 2 services and initialed in the first slot. I asked her why and she said ONLY she can initial them. She also said she didn’t recognize the handwriting on my second slot making me feel like an «initial forger» and just like an overall cheater. (Haaa, haaaaa so stupid) But anyway, I couldn’t wrap my head around someone being so petty so just to make myself clear I asked «So you just discredited my first TWO services?». «Yes» was the answer despite the fact that she DID admit to recognizing one set of initials on the card (Nadia’s).
It appears that Ms. Dua’s employees were not informed of this «rule» (as of 4÷20÷10) because neither of them got my card initialed by her. In fact, Nadia was standing right there WITH NOTHING TO SAY. (To her credit, Nadia is quite good at shaping I have to admit.) Ms. Dua claims to be in her store ALL THE TIME but sorry lady you were not there when I checked out both times previously. If you were in the back then your employees should have called you up front. That’s not my job as the customer to handle that…
It is $ 25 dollars for the first eyebrow shaping and $ 15 a pop for each eyebrow service thereafter. Not cheap considering there are places that do it for much better WITH better pricing and WITHOUT making you feel like you’re a thief…

I haven’t even been here yet but so far I know that I don’t want to go anymore. I, too, purchased 4 Groupons for my girlfriends and I to enjoy together. When I called to make an appt, there was never an available time for all of us to experience the service at the same time. Plus, trying to coordinate 4 busy girls schedule to coincide on one day is difficult. However, we all agreed to set aside a Saturday to do so. So when I called the lady to book an appt, she kept telling me she didn’t have enough staff… ok fair enough… but uh, so schedule more ppl on Saturday. It’s good business! She told me to call another time.
So today I called to schedule a future appt and I get informed that I will not be getting all the services advertised in the Groupon deal and that I should talk to the owner. I called one number of one location, was directed to call the owner at the other location. Called the other location, was told that she’s never at that location and to call the other location. Call the original location again and was told to call her cell phone, which I called and the voicemail box is full thus couldn’t even leave a message. Was then informed that the owner is in a meeting (BS).
Not only does this place not look the part of a salon that deserves recognition, the professionalism is still something to be desired. I would much rather get my money back than waste precious time at a unprofessional, run down, neglected salon. BIG Thumbs down thus far.

I went here because of a coupon as well… I think Elaine and I got the same deal. The way this place was billed, it seemed like a great deal because it was some sort of exclusive spa. Not the case at all.
I called to book an appointment, and it turns out they were closed because it was Monday. The phone forwards to the owner’s cell, and she answered & told me to call back. When I called back the next day, all the appointments were booked. I ended up making a 12:15 appt for the following Sunday with my friend. Even though they open at 12, the owner told me to be there at 12:15 because they wouldn’t be ready yet. That should have been my first clue.
The look of the whole place was definitely sub-​standard for a spa — I wouldn’t have paid more than $ 30 for a mani/​pedi here, and they claim it’s over $ 60 without the coupon. The «A» was missing from the word «Salon» on the sign, too. The photo on Unilocal makes it look a lot nicer than it is — don’t be fooled.
We got there at 12:15, and there was only 1 staff person there. The person working told us that we would have to wait until 1:00, because the other staff member was having «car troubles.» Hmm… she called the staff person to check on when she would be there and they said wanted to talk to ME on the phone! Huh?
So at this point, we were annoyed, because we had pre-​paid for the service to get the coupon. Oh yes, I will be getting my money back. We walked out & went to Leon Nails and paid $ 25 for a pretty darn good mani/​pedi.
Don’t use this place — you’ll regret it.

I went here to use a coupon which made my deluxe mani-​pedi ludicrously inexpensive. Would I go again at full price? Probably not. I think in terms of ‘spa’ experience, i.e. décor and ambiance this would rate only one star. However, the lady who transformed my hands and feet, Betty, is worth 5 stars all to herself. She is an amazingly gentle, warm person and I would go to her for a spa treatment if it meant sitting in the Highway median!
