Al’s Formal Wear

This review is long overdue. My husband and I got married last August and after terrible service at another men’s store we ventured over to Al’s Formal Wear on Post Oak.
Me met Arthur, who was more than fantastic from beginning to end, he let us take the sample mannequins off the wall and mix and match jackets and compare colors, vests, ties, etc…
Anytime I called either him or Johnny were readily available and willing to help. We even had a slight issue with our ring bearer being sized. My family traveled across town to see Arthur and Johnny-​no problem. Everything was taken care of and all of our tuxedo’s were on time and perfect.
We even ordered our invitations here and had to put a rush. I felt like these two guys were there just for me when I needed them; I can imagine most people must feel that way, they are wonderful, attentive and very helpful!
It was nice to not have to worry about two such important elements of my wedding– I highly recommend this location!

The whole wedding party got tuxedos here. Of the ordered 8 tuxedos only 3 were 100% correct (one of which was sent in metric units). This added stress to the wedding preparation and is unlike any previous tuxedo rental experience I’ve had. The price was $ 150 – 160 per tux, pretty standard. They don’t have enough fitting rooms for a wedding party, so we had to rotate in with other customers picking up which was a pain. Johnnie was a pleasure to work with (unfortunately the folks back at the warehouse made mistakes). It would have been nice to have been offered some drinks while waiting at this Galleria location, but that didn’t happen. If forced I’d go here again, but I’ll look elsewhere for the next tux rental.

Arthur (store manager) is great to deal with. His is very knowledgeable about fashions and trends. The store has a great location with ample parking and is extremely clean. Doesn’t feel like your getting a cheap tux from mens warehouse (MW) that has been used and abused. They have a great variety. Only downside is the pricing is not as competitive as MW but would definitely come back for the service.

We have come here to order our tuxes for our wedding and I highly recommend it. Even in comparison to the other stores (ex: Men’s Warehouse) Al’s definitely has the better quality of suits. My big tip is to definitely try on the suits because sizes are so different for many designers!
Price — Al’s is probably on the higher end of price points in comparison to other suit rental shops, however, well worth the money. You can rent a suit from a range of 120 – 250 so the variety is there. To buy a suit, the range is in the 400 – 500 range is my guess, however I’m sure there are suits for a wider range.
Product — In comparison to the other suit rental shops I think the quality of the material are better. They have many brands including Joseph Abboud, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis and Al’s brand. If you like the fitted slim cut look, these are the suits to rent.
Service — I will say not all Al’s locations are the same. This is definitely one of the better locations for Al’s as the manager knows his suits. He not only has given us good advice but even when we are unsure of the suits he has ordered them to come in for my fiancé’ to try on.
