Description

Specialties

Therapy Dog Training classes are held privately only. Therapy students must have the AKC CGC prior to starting classes. All therapy dog classes will be taught in locations that the dog will encounter in real life.

For example, one class is taught at a hospital, then when the dog passes all the situations within the hospital, the location is moved to its next challenge. Certification can be achieved through 50 visits after all of the situations have been passed.

There is no specific time frame for this training. Temperament is a major factor in this type of training. Not all dogs are good candidates. Please schedule your evaluation now!

History

Established in 2013.

Training Therapy Dogs and Service Dogs is my passion! Getting normal dogs to do extraordinary things for their humans is not an easy task; it takes dedication, patience, kindness, ingenuity and a Pawsitive Approach…

There are many different ways to achieving training goals. I prefer to use a «Pawsitive Approach» when teaching new things to doggies and their humans. I have been training dogs professionally for the past 5 years but started training dogs during childhood with my dad. We trained blood-trailing labs for hunting. I have my own labs, Mazey and Dixie. I started out at a large well known chain and learned their methodology. While working there, I encountered numerous clients who wanted more specialized training for their specific needs.

Meet the Business Owner

Cathy D.

Business Owner

Cathy, owner and head trainer, has dual citizenship for the states of Texas and Mississippi. Her love for children and animals began at a young age on her grandparents farm. While living in the Piney Woods of Mississippi, hunters would loose their prey in the thickets, so I trained my lab, Blaze, to seek & find the fallen. She also assisted her mother with the duties of Junior Auxiliary, an organization dedicated to underprivileged children.

This love of animals and kids is the driving force behind her business. Her caring and compassion is evident in her training. She uses a reward system to get her doggies to work. She went to Service Dogs, Inc., formerly known as Texas Hearing and Service Dogs in Austin to strengthen her skill set to provide mobility, diabetic alert and emotional support service dogs to those in need. She works for Pets for Vets and trains companion dogs for soldiers returning home.
