Bob’s Food City

I can’t believe that Unilocalers haven’t jumped on the chance to tell everyone about this dump of a grocery store yet!
I have to write a review while the nightmare of this shopping experience is still fresh in my head.
I went here out of necessity rather than out of some odd urge. The people of Hot Springs have always made faces when talking about Bob’s Food City… They told me the prices were WAY too high, for such a disgusting place and that the staff there is just outright rude.
Going in myself, the first thing I notice is the shabby interior and the disgusting flooring. There are missing tiles and dark, moldy looking areas…
The produce is old and I noticed that the apples were shriveled… among other things. The temperatures in the refrigerator cases were too hot. The prices ARE most definately high. I would pay $ 2.75 for a Marie Callendar meal in Walmart or Kroger, and here it was $ 4.00 for the same meal! It’s not like its a stellar shopping experience. The bread was stale and the dates on some of the food was close to expiration. The very last monstrosity I came upon before deciding to leave, was the meat section… where they had «manager’s special» buy 5 packs of various meats for $ 19.99…this «deal» was apparently set up to sell all of the old and gray meats that they hadn’t sold because this place apparently gets no play. I’m sure in it’s hey-​day this place was an awesome place to shop, but if you ask me, I’d rather go out of my way and shop at Kroger or Walmart. I ended up making a few purchases that were of the «safe» variety. Some frozen chicken, pop-​tarts, and some soda. NEVER AGAIN.
