Speed Raceway

This place is awesome. Don’t let the haters fool you. The staff is kind and the facility is clean and well maintained. Is it on the expensive side of life, yes, but it’s a unique experience and they run specials all the time.
My suggestion, come in anytime during the day (before 5) on a weekday. You’ll practically have the place to yourself. My wife and I had a great time and the staff took great care of us.
Also the carts are great. Electric is the way to go… they’re super fast (the staff helps determine how fast you can go based on your comfort level/​skill) and they don’t have the putrid smell that the gas carts have. The tracks are challenging and fun for all ages.

Worst customer service! My brother and I went today on a Tuesday at 3pm, and the place was empty. We waited over 45 minutes and our names were never called so I went up to the front desk. The girl at the front desk was talking on the phone which didn’t even sound work-​related, and even though she saw me, she ignored me. Then another worker came to the desk and he too ignored me and just stood there by the girl doing nothing! Finally a third worker came and asked if I needed help. I asked him to look up the time that we were going to race, and he did not see our names on the schedule. Turns out that they actually marked us as already raced. With attitude, the girl chimed in saying they called our names and we raced already… when we never heard our names being called and we definitely did not race yet. They even said they think another group probably raced during our time slot. I guess this is the kind of service you get from high school workers. I never was so mad before at a worker and I never wrote a Unilocal review until now. We left without racing today even though they already took our groupon, and they never apologized for their mistake. But after arguing, they said they would add races (an additional one for the trouble) to our accounts for next time since we didn’t use ours yet but I have no idea if they actually added it or not. I guess I will find out if I ever come back. Ridiculous

We booked an event for our Son’s 9^th birthday party.
He chose 8 kids and they had three heats to race.
The kids just loved the whole thing. They were not overly concerned about who «won.»
The party room we had was very spacious and multiple tables. nice couches to lounge in near large screen TV’s.
They did not provide any food, just the racing and room.
At the end of the three races, the children with the fastest times got medals for 1, 2 and 3.
With children one concern is safety. I was impressed with the operation. They could stop any cart at any moment depending on crashes. That is important with a young crowd.
By the end of the night, everyone children and adults were very pleased. Several parents were stating they were going to come back to the place. And at least one of the boys was already asking to come back for his birthday party in May.

You should check out Speedway’s racing leagues. I race in the weekly league racing. The league is fun and extremely competitive. Each week you get 2 qualifying races and 1 position race. You earn points each week which counts toward a playoff session for top 20 in points after two weeks. The position races are awesome because you get to race, bump, and pass other racers and fight to be the first to the checked flag, just like real racing.
I’d highly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience competitive racing for a relatively cheap price.

Racing karts at Speed Raceway is crazy fun. You want to know how fast the karts go? They go too fast. There is no way you can floor the throttle for more than a few seconds and actually stay on the track. Before going you should know that the wait can be long. Go there and sign up for your races and then ready to do something else for a while. Also, understand that although you are racing with several other people, you are mostly racing against the clock.

I’ve been here several times. The place is always well organized and the karts are always in good shape. Great layouts and great staff!

Love it here friday nights is ladies night which means half off a race for which will be $ 10. My only problem is the wait is sometimes ridiculous we waited almost 3hrs once.

I didn’t go here for my first time until this past Summer I believe. I went with one of my cousins who has done it before and he thought it was awesome so he really wanted to go with me. When you walk in you hear the screeching of tires and you walk over to the people who will ask you if you’ve been to Speed Raceway before and if not they will set you up with a membership that costs $ 6 for a year. Well that’s fine, I’m not really sure why it costs a little fee to be a member, or what even the point of the membership is but it’s not a big deal. But the problem is the race price; it’s $ 20 for a race. I really think that is asking a bit too much when you consider how fast it adds up if you want to do multiple races. The trick is to go when they have half-​price racing making it $ 10 a race. Admittedly, that is the only time I go; I see no point in going when it’s normal price because I don’t go often and when I do go I might as well get the discount. Past that though the actual racing is fantastic. The helmet makes it quiet when you put down the visor that gives you this awesome feeling that you have to experience for yourself. And the racing is so much fun and at the same time really tough to master if you want to come in first place. The races are based on lap times and the only lap that matters is your best lap; I really like this way of doing it but I don’t think there is any other option, haha. What’s really cool is your RPM score. It stands for Racing Performance Measure and it starts at 1200 and the better you do in races the more it increases and if you do bad it will decrease. This is great and it is fun to see at the end of the race how it changed. Well that’s my review of Speed Raceway… the only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star rating is the price and in all honesty, I’d rather the Walmart still be there instead.

Fun night for a group! We got there near closing and after a 5 min registration process waited about 45 minutes before our race. Unfortunately the race does last only 10 minutes but it is really fun to go around as fast as you can and try to catch up to the person in front of you. Your place is based on how fast you complete the laps in your group. I think $ 20 is definitely way too much but I think it’s worth to go at least once!

So 4 of us show up at noon. We register and proceed to wait in line for 30 min before we actually sign up and pay. We had a groupon and they told us we couldn’t sign up online but had to come in to do it… Ok. They told us there were 10 races ahead of us and it would be around an hour wait time. Fine, we left to get food and came back an hour later. When we asked how many more races we were told 7… Wait what?! They only did 3 races in an hour? So we waiting another hour (it’s now 2 pm) and then asked again, this time they told us there were 3 races ahead of us. Not so bad except while waiting we watched at least 10 races get called. 2:30 and 6 races later I ask again and now there are 2 ahead of us, WTF!!! Finally after 3 hours of waiting we finally got our turn and while it was pretty fun it only lasted 5 minutes. So unless one of the employees is a friend and will bump you up in line be prepared to wait triple the quote time for a 5 min ride. Completely ridiculous and obviously poor management. Not even worth the groupon price, much less full value.

I’ve been here a couple times now and every time its been great! I’ve only went on the week days so it hasn’t been crazy busy.
They have 2 different styles of go-​karts. One for adults and the other for children. We had a girl in our group who at first was scared to try, but a couple laps and she was having as much fun as us!

WHAT I ENDURE FOR MY KIDS!
Rip off gimmick… They charge $ 6 yearly charge to be in their database. So basically every new member pays their payroll and expenses. $ 21 for a 12 minute race in addition to your fee, this equalled $ 72 for me for 12 minutes for 3 children.
Very busy so us being walk ins had 11 races before us and the cashier tried almost talking me out of waiting. She was annoyed that I asked her questions.
No concessions except vending machines. A dozen arcade games to bleed you more during your wait.
Two tracks… small in respects to what they are promoting themselves as.
Very disappointed (you can buy lift tickets at a mountain for this price and ski all day)
One positive thing… some fun décor.

I frequent a lot of Karting facilities in the San Francisco Bay Area and I’m currently in Elkins Park for school. I was excited to find this place which is extremely close compared to LeHigh Valley GP.
That said this place has been working out the kinks for quite a while. The format of racing is time trial only. You still aren’t able to pick what track you can use and there’s no way of knowing the schedule before hand.
Tracks: I’ve finally driven both and can say that they’re extremely narrow and don’t compliment the karts. The surface is extremely slick and combined with the understeer prone karts and tight corners it just turns into a very loud experience. There’s plenty of room in the viewer area to make the tracks that much wider. They have started to combine tracks but not as frequent as one would like.
Karts: The karts are OK. They’re electric and comparably heavy to their gas counterparts. These karts seem to be very rear heavy as turn-​in has no bite at corner entry or mid. Late braking produces snap oversteer and drifting is practically nonexistent. Settings could fix this but it seems there is more work in maintenance than there is performance.
Racing: It’s time trial only. There’s no form of arrive and drive Race or GP unless you do the League Nights.
For the price its very expensive for the options provided.

I brought the bf here for this bday. I wasn’t sure if the cinnaminson location is open yet. It was kind of a hike from south jersey. The location was easy to find. You can’t really miss it. The facility itself is fairly new (I think they opened in the fall 2012). Its clean and very spacious. They have tons of seating around the track for waiting or just watching. There’s not much there but conference rooms, game lounge with a handful of video games. If your not registered with them you have to pay $ 6 which is good for a year. We only did the standard adult lap. It felt kinda long, I believe it was about 14 laps. The track felt a bit short. But all in all it was fun. They have weekday specials so check that out.

I’m a big go kart fan. Raced at all of the K1 locations in California and been to a slew of others in the country and was excited to see one open relatively close to Philly [still 25m away from the NE, so not really].
It’s pricey, the karts are pretty inconsistent in their handling attributes, you can’t select which track to race on, and it would be a huge boon if the tracks were paved. The concrete setup really adds to the snap oversteer as the handling limits are reached and this is a huge, huge hindrance to novice drivers. One race, the same person happened to spin out at least once per lap, always causing a yellow flag to pop up if anyone was nearby [which there usually was]. This really slows it down and makes for a terrible race if you’re being speed limited more than several times per race.
Admittedly, they’re still tweaking and figuring it out, but as far as the karting is concerned, it’s middle of the road. However, when you’re stranded, you just gotta make due.

I’m a huge fan of Karting, and this location seems to have a lot of potential, and I’m confident they will eventually work out the kinks. Right now, however, compared to the competition (lehigh valley grand prix and mid-​atlantic grand prix), the prices are very high, the track is very slow (too few straight-​aways) and too short. I question their decision to split the area into two small different tracks rather than just make one giant one, but even still there is a lot of wasted space that could be utilized by a better track configuration.
The karts are plenty fast, but have some handling issues… they don’t seem to want to turn. Perhaps a new alignment or something as simple as lowering front tire pressures would remedy this…
I’ll come back an write a better review later, as I’m sure over the next few months this organization will be changing things around a bit… but as of right now the best karting in the Philadelphia area is still way out in Wilmington and Lehigh Valley…

ok, first let me say, its not cheap.
So if you are looking for boardwalk go karting on the cheap. this is not it.
But value for guys and girls who like to drive fast: good.
We paid $ 40 + 6 (for registration, which is now good for all locations, including the new cinnaminson one, which is way closer to our house)
we got 3 races for the price of 2.

The Racing: they have jr karts for people 48 inches and up, and full size adult karts for people who are 56 inches and up. and for the shorties, they have foam boosters, so dont’ worry of you are borderline little people.
the karts are electric automatic. i guess CVT? but who needs to shift gears?
Karts are comfy. they provide helmet socks, kind of like du rags. which are laundered, and should be returned after each race, and fresh ones are provided.
Helmets, some guys were using their own motorcycle helmets, which is cool.
You must wear closed toed shoes, they have helmets for people with normal sized skulls and bigheads up to xxxL.
we brought 10 racers, and the first race, was too crowded because all 10 people went at one time.
So, go with max 5 or 6 people per race.
All the racing is based on best time per lap.
So its not about passing or bumping off another person, but driving a proper line.
you will spin out and stuff, if you dont slow down into the turns.
Best tip for enjoying the racing. if you are too close to someone or in a pack, let them drive off, and create a buffer for yourself. once you are in the clear, then drive hard. Its better than messing around in a back, or not being able to pass someone who keeps taking the inside. and we had some collisions. my neck and sides are sore from a real hard crash.
14 or 15 lips per race, which is really really long.
There is a leaderboard, that you can glance at while you are driving around the track, so you can gauge your time and stuff. and they give you a printout. with your best scores and lap times.
they look like they are setting up some conference rooms and stuff in the back
Defn a badass way to reward your hard working employees or have a serious birthday party for some teenagers.
no food options yet, but theres tons to eat in the local area.
