Stopped in for lunch on Sunday, October 19th. We were 7 people and were looking for a little guidance on how to order. Although known for their smoked meats the place comes across as a mediocre deli due to a poor layout, incomplete menu boards and unhelpful and poorly trained staff. The young blonde woman that appeared to be in charge behind the counter was rude and couldn’t be bothered to help us. She seemed to be more interested in cracking jokes at the customers’ expense with the young man working behind the counter. I was embarrassed that I had suggested this place for lunch and will not be returning.

I stopped by the small ice cream shop next to the deli where they offer over 20 flavors of soft custard. The flavored custards are made to order so the taste and consistency is different than what you would expect from TCBY’s. Next time I would try the vanilla since the biggest downfall of the flavored custard was that it was too soft and almost melting after the flavor was mixed in. I might also try out the deli if I stop by again.

I’M GOINGTOHELPYOUGETTHRUTHISMAZEFORLUNCH. DON’T LOOKATTHESPECIALS, ORANYTHINGELSE . Just go to the back meat case for the real winners. The House made Roast Turkey for you(unfortunately they don’t serve them warm after roasting) I like my turkey sandwich with a lot of black pepper, tomato and mayo. The house made Large Bologna for the kids. They have bad hero bread, so if you have time, go to Mario the baker in Hopewell, grab a few fresh Bastone bread’s, stuff them with the cold cuts, and have a picnic at the East Fishkill Park, sitting near the river!(NICE)

So disappointed with this deli. I am planning my daughters baptism and needed a caterer for the event. I spoke with Chris the catering manager who seemed very nice on the phone. I explained to him what food I wanted and all the details of what was to be done on that day. He was very helpful and said he would get back to me by the end of the week with a price so I can budget for my event and make sure I wanted to go with them. The end of the week came and I didnt get a phone call. So Monday I spoke with a worker who answered the phone and told me Chris was in the back busy and would call me back before closing. NOCALL. So I waited until Wednesday to call back and still no call. So wednesday I left another message for Chris who was off that day but was reassured by the woman who answered the call that he would call me back first thing Thursday. Thursday came and went NOCALLAGAIN!!! So Friday I left another message for Chris who I was told was very busy to call me back asap so I can factor price in to my event. As you can imagine still no call all weekend or on Monday. So Wednesday I decided to call for the last time. This time I gave a different name, and wouldnt you know Chris who was never available answered the phone. This was the conversation… Me: «Hi Chris this is #$%^^ I have been trying to reach you so I can get a price for my event.» Chris:“Oh hold on let me go get your order, …2 minutes later he gets on the phone and says«well it looks like all i have written down about your order is a bunch of chicken scratch» In my mind im thinking the following:(I gave you a detailed list of everything I wanted for that day and all you have written done is chicken scratch, wow im now so confident that my order on the day of my event is going to go so well) So I say to him Chris I need a price so I can budget for that day, he responds well im going to have to get back to you next week. OKCHRISTHATHASREALLYWORKEDOUTFORUSINTHEPAST. I have left you several messages and you never call back. His response to that was well thats not my problem no one gave me the messages. So I told him if they couldnt get me a price by the end of the day I would have to go with someone else, and Chris said fine with an attitude and hung up on me. So I call back to speak with Lisa the owner and her response was well we never got your messages and we are sorry if this happened to you. No let me make it up to you, no please still use us, no nothing disrespect is how I took it. So my advice to anyone considering using them for catering… DONT. If they are to busy to give out a price or return a phone call then they must not be to good at creating the best event for you. I will never be a customer again and will be sure to pass this along to all I know who are customers of this deli.

A German twist on smoke house fare. Great sausages, decent smoked brisket sandwiches, sub-par soft serve ice cream. The pastranomy sandwich is okay, but cannot be compared to Katz Deli in Manhattan. The candy selection reminded me of being at the World Showcase at Disney’s Epcot Center. There were candies and chocolates that were from Germany, Belgium and the such. The prices on the food are a bit steep, averaging about $ 7 – 8 per sandwich, and the portions of meats have been getting skimpier as the years go by. You’ll find that the sandwiches are being made more with onions and sauce fillers rather than the actual meats. There is an outdoor picnic pavillion and indoor eating area with television. There is ample parking space, but can get crowded during the weekends. Fixing up the indoor dining area, and tweeking the décor a bit would go a long way to making this a fun dining destination. This deli/smoke house is, «A-Ok.»

Smoke Haus has the best home made sausages in the area! They may be a little pricey but delicious.

Terrible service, I went in when they were fairly busy and found that they have no sense of organization a bunch of young kid helping people on who waves their hand the highest not who has been waiting the longest, when I told them that I have been waiting for 15 mins and the person that they are helping has just got there! They just looked at me with a blank stare and I continued to wait… I walked out; my wife is too polite and waited more until she was served. I will not go back again(probably not loss to them considering the amount of people that were there) but there are too many great deli’s in the area to put up with the incompetence of this staff(I know that it is cost effective to hire young kids but there should be a supervisor on staff making sure that people are taken care of). Go to Franco’s a bit further up the road by Chase bank then go across the street to Mario’s get some amazing bread and you’re in heaven!(Mario’s has a long wait, but is organized and worth waiting)
