As frequent diners in the area of a variety of restaurants, we usually have our old standbys. On our last dining out experience we decided to try a different place — Lilliana’s Italian Restaurant and Steakhouse. This is a decision I can never take back! The place was packed, so I assumed this was a good sign, but perhaps it was packed with first time diners like me, unknowing of the culinary misadventure they were in for. We waited over one hour for our entrees to come and once they did they were barely edible. A medium strip steak came out like shoe leather and my sole francese was extremely fishy tasting. The waitress, friendly and accomodating offered to have the chef prepare a new steak, but really were we going to wait another hour for sub-par food. In an area where there are so many options for great food, this is not the place!

This an excellent place for Italian food. I am not sure why they have steakhouse in the name but they have great Italian dishes. The chicken parm portion is Hugh.

In a county full of pizza places, this is the worst pizza we have ever had. The crust was doughy, the toppings were tasteless. Btw the wines and beers are all low average. I got excited when i saw two beers advertised but no one working there had ever heard of either.

We had only been to the old Lilliana’s out by the airport, and I thought it was just okay. With my wife’s birthday, she suggested trying the new location. We had heard that the wait for a table here was ridiculous and I refuse to wait for any restaurant more than fifteen or twenty minutes, but since it was a special occasion we gave it a try. The hostess greeted us and sat us(party of four) immediately at a nice corner table. It was only about 5:30 on a Sunday, so the place really wasn’t packed yet, but as we sat sipping our wine I noticed the background noise level was steadily increasing. The waitress was prompt, but I had to ask her to repeat herself several times; the acoustics in this place are awful. You can hear every sound, and because of the high ceiling and narrow dining room, every little noise takes on a brassy sound. My irritation was greatly increased when the requisite Sinatra tunes began playing on what sounded like a cheap clock radio with the volume turned all the way up. Naturally, this had to be enhanced by a shrieking child several tables away. We did not order any appetizers, the selection was fairly standard. Our salads came out, and were a generous portion of chilled fresh greens. For an entrée, I ordered the Porterhouse steak, my son and wife ordered the Prime Rib, and my other son ordered the Chicken Parmigiana. The steaks were cooked to order, although half of my wife’s Prime Rib was a huge nodule of fat. Prime Rib is often hit or miss, and I think that needs to be overlooked. We had the Broccoli Rabe as a side dish, it was cooked al dente and was not too bitter, but the garlic was burned. The chicken parmigiana portion was huge, easily enough for two people. Overall, the food was acceptable and the service was very good. We elected to skip coffee and dessert because we were quite full, and also because we wanted to leave immediately. The racket in the place had risen to the point where normal conversation was impossible, and I was getting a headache. On the way out, we had to thread our way through the crowd that was standing around waiting for tables. To sum up, it was a very decent meal but I did not like the atmosphere at all, and was actually quite irritated by the time we left. I doubt we will return.

We were very excited to try this restaurant and went on a Friday night. There was a short wait to be seated, but then no one came over to us for more than 30 minutes. We could not get anyone’s attention. Finally, a young man who appeared to be a floor manager came over to check on us, and sent over a busboy(who was new) to be our server. He tried hard but did not know what he was doing. We were seated over an hour before getting any bread or drinks, and it was another half hour before our food came out, and mine was the wrong meal. The woman who serves as hostess/management spent more time socialing than checking on anything, even when flagged down. Her response was, «Oh well, the food will be out soon.» When my husband approached the same young manager about it, he was defensive and rather rude. My husband works in restaurants and mentioned that he knows opening a new place is hard, and the young man insulted his current restaurant. Also, the website they list on take out menus brings you to a website for a Montessori school. I pointed it out and we were again treated rudely. We live 5 minutes away, but I don’t think we will ever go back. I’ve heard that others have had a similar experience, and are part if the«3 Hour Crew»…that us, it takes that long to eat there, and the employees just don’t care.

I really enjoyed my experience at the old Lillianas near the DC Airport… BUT this stephild was awful!!! I was taken out for a holiday dinner here… with reservations. And waited… and waited. The Italian red sauce was pedestrian… the scampi sacue was delightful… but in short supply… plus they assigned an extra charge when we asked for it on the pasta side of a plainly broiled seafood platter — no mention of the extra charge either… til the bill. We ordered 2 entrees to share with each other — one Prime Rib — too thick and since when is med-rare, brown all the way thru? I think 16oz is too big… but with at least 5 oz of untrimmed fat, it was a fine size share. The specialty was a Broiled Seafood Platter… broiled to death and with a serving size that would have left room on a salad plate. Two mussels, one Littleneck Clam(or its much smaller cousin) a few shrimps on a skewer and a small piece of overly cooked dry ½in thick salmon. Unfortunaltely the price did not match the minscule portion. The waitress was very overwhelmed… very sweet but clearly overwhelmed. Best part of the meal??? Alcohol and leaving!!! So sorry, I so wanted to like this reincarnation of the former Lillianas…
