History

Established in 2000.

The Old Ice House Pizzeria was originally opened in 2000 and was purchased in 2013 by a local Hope couple who’s goal is to be a part of the community and promote other local business owners by using as many locally produced items as possible. The exquisite pizza, low key atmosphere, and killer view make the pizzeria one of a kind!

Business Owner

Mike and Teresa were both born and raised in the Sandpoint area and have lived in Hope for the last 4 years. With a strong desire to be part of the small community of Hope, they purchased the Pizzeria in March of 2013 and have since been working to bring new life to the building and business. Teresa’s mother, Naomi, is the manager of the business and it’s not irregular to see other members of Mike and Teresa’s family helping out in the restaurant as they are very family oriented.

Great pizza! Crust is delicious! Lots of great varieties. Sit inside or outside with views of the lake or pick the secret garden seating upstairs in the back. The décor is not deluxe but the staff are friendly and efficient. We are locals and keep coming back.

This is our second time visiting this establishment. The pizza is a good 7 – 8 out of 10 but the service hasn’t been that great and if you come at the wrong time you could be waiting more than an hour for your food. I usually love small town establishments like this, they just definitely have room for improvement.
Furthermore don’t expect an escape from the summer heat, the whole joint is roasting with no air conditioning and not enough fans.

Everything is made fresh here and the lady working here was bragging about where they get their pepporoni from and how it’s not greasy. I am a huge fan of Pizza Hut, and this place wasn’t better than PH in my opinion but the staff and service was far beyond. And the location is stellar! I could see loving to hang out here with friends. It’s very homey, inviting and has a nice view. Upstairs theres a couch and games, and a porch. A great find in a small town. More happening during the summer of course but fresh made everything (cookies, pastries, etc).

We arrived on a Friday night when the place was packed. We had to wait a little while, but is was worth it! Order at the counter, take a pitcher of beer and go find your table, enjoy your friends and the pizza will arrive pipin’ hot. Delicious.

This is one of those places you go to and enjoy a perfect summer night with a view of the lake, cold beverages, the quirky atmosphere and you never, ever forget it.
The pies are huge. They try to source as much local and organic as possible, including using local wheat from Shepard’s Grain in Eastern Wa which is local and tastes great. I often find myself fantasizing about my return and what I’m going to try next.
Don’t go if you are in a hurry or aren’t prepared to relax. Each pie is hand crafted, and it takes awhile. Eat a cookie first if you’re starving. No one will tell your mom.
It’s only open in the summer. Be sure you check the website before making the trek.
Also, Bear (the owner) also sells his garden greens off the front steps, so go to stock up.

Hope, Idaho (Lake Pend Oreille): this is a real laid back joint… an old but quaint building. Make sure you eat on the balcony and check in the beautiful views of the Lake. Pizza’s are very good. Wine is cheap… Music usually Friday & Saturday (summer time)… make sure your bang on the GONG for the cashier.

Big city Pizza with a view of the lake. Some of the best pizza I have ever tried, very fresh Veggies and soups that are simply delicious. If you get a chance to eat there DO IT, you won’t be sorry.
