My husband grills steak fairly often and does so with perfect timing and tasty results… One of our favorite butcher shops was too far a trip today and our regular local place has been putting too much marinade lately. So, the grill master stopped by Old Thyme Butcher and purchased some nice looking garlic and pepper sirloin tips($ 15/lb) and some«Jeff’s» potato salad($ 5 for a small tub). Never going back again! I haven’t had steak tips this chewy, dry, and tasteless since I was a kid. The potato salad looked great. It had eggs, bacon and scallions. Looks aren’t everything, it was completely tasteless and the bacon consisted of fatty chewy chunks. I read the one other review on Unilocal(after we ate) and I concur completely… Wish we had read that review prior to our purchase, but now we know. The one star I gave was only because I have to give one… I’ll attribute it to my husband saying the place looked nice inside and was clean and organized.

Very disappointing experience. The service behind the counter was terrible. Had a staring contest with the people for a few minutes before I just started asking questions, which seemed like was a major hindrance to them. There are items called«Red Sox Steak Tips». Unless you are a psychic you would have no idea what kind of flavor they have. The one thing they have in common with the 2015 Red Sox is that they stink and are overpriced. The woman who rang us up was polite and had a personality at least(one star for her). We purchased Red Sox Steak Tips, Chicken Wings(Sweet Asian but forget the name because they were so forgettable), and two Andy’s Cookie Company items — Funfetti Whoopie Pie and a M & M cookie. The steak tips had slight flavor but were so disgustingly chewy I felt like I was eating a shoe. A machete would have had trouble cutting through them. The chicken wings had NO flavor. I felt like I was eating plain chicken wings; they literally had zero taste. The M & M cookie was pretty hard and definitely stale as well but at least the Funfetti Whoopie Pie was delicious. For $ 20 you can go ANYWHERE else and do better. Do NOT waste your time and money.
