Master Yu believes that studying the martial Arts is not simply about learning how to fight– it is about a way of life. Of course he believes when one practices martial arts, proficiency as a fighter must be a result. but he emphasizes that that fighting is only part of the equation.
For Master Yu, the ultimate goal of the martial arts is to understand our selves as human beings, and develop sensibilities about what it is about a daily effort toward humanity, concept and philosophy of living.
«On the most basic level, martial arts is for survival. We must learn to protect ourselves. But on the highest level, martial arts can be the path to ultimate spiritual enlightenment. In between, the number of directions you can goal is unlimited.» Master Yu isn’t interested in each goal and accomplishment. Instead, He wants to be remembered for the great goal of living his entire life as a consummate martial artist, always growing.
«Every person has a personal empire, a castle which he builds from the day he is born. If you stop growing and learning. you automatically start tearing down your castle, you go down. Either you are improving, or you are backing up, there is no in-between.
Until I die, I will be searching for new directions. That is what the martial arts is about.»
Master Yu takes pride in being an innovator, using fighting as medium in which he can, as an artist, express himself.

It has become a modern international sport. Tae Kwon Do has appeared in the last three Olympic Games. Tae Kwon translates into «using feet and hands,» and Do means «Art» or «Way of Life».
The foundation of Yu’s Martial Art (the Yong Do Won style) is the culmination of Tae Kwon Do, which used hands and feet in the simulation of actual fighting. Master Yu’s unique training methods not only develop the overall functions of the mind and body, but also aids in the building of character, integrity, self-discipline, courtesy, perseverance, confidence, and a positive attitude. «Do» means the Way of Life
«Won» means Peaceful Place
