Yogaloha Hawaii

I found this studio Yogaloha to be walking distance to my condo and couldn’t have been happier.
The instructors, Miro, Valerie, and Stephanie are incredible. The studio is spotlessly clean serene and welcoming.
I’m a 6 month long student and all the instructors took the time to correct my poses when necessary and recognize this 75 year old body isn’t quite so flexible.
I can’t say enough good things about this lovely studio.

Late review but just loved this place. Clean, airy, quaint. Instructors were professional and also mindful. Studio provides mats too. Drop in cost. $ 12 i think, Went twice during my stay at nearby hotel. Would definitely go again.

My wife and I have been students of yoga for approximately 10 years. She’s a 600-​hour YTT instructor with advanced training in numerous components of the yoga practice. We recently took a trip to Oahu and located this student primarily because it was within walking distance of our hotel and the Web site was developed very well. We were pleasantly surprised at how helpful and informative the desk staff were and at how diverse the schedule of classes was. We absolutely fell in love with the studio after our first class and made every attempt to take at least one class a day during our week-​long trip. The instructors were phenomenal, the class times easily accommodated our daily schedules, and the location is perfect – right in the middle of Waikiki. (My wife also purchased several of the beautiful Yogaloha yoga shirts, which she proudly represents in our home town of Phoenix.)
If you’re looking for a zen atmosphere, a diverse schedule of classes that can easily speak to anyBODY, and warm staff, start here. It was truly amazing! If I lived on Oahu permanently, I would certainly make this my #1 studio.

Really good class! Visiting from San Francisco, I took a gamble and was quite pleased. The room is pretty small; could probably hold about 15 max, but it’s well ventilated. Sunday morning Stephenie’s style is alignment focused, which I like since my background is with iyengar. She gives clear instructions in a clear voice. The pace was slower than many flow classes, so I would not call it a strenuous class, but she may vary a bit week to week, I don’t know. I would definitely go back!

I did Yoga for the first time ever here. It was very welcoming and I had a great time. They even have a special deal for military and you can walk in and join a class. Will def be back!

I just had the best yoga class ever with the instructor Miro. It’s hard to describe in words, but the poses, postures & stretches were so unique and unlike any others I have done before. I have been to a lot of yoga classes, and this was by far the best. I don’t know where she learned these techniques, but the stretches feel so good. I’ve only been to 2 classes so far, and the other instructor Dani was excellent as well. I joined for the one month unlimited, and I’m glad I did! =)

On my last day in Waikiki, I found myself in serious need of a yoga class. I stumbled upon Yogaloha Hawaii on Unilocal,and decided to give the 9:30 am Saturday Power Yoga class a try. It was everything I needed and more.
The yoga studio itself is adorable — very calming space, high-​quality yoga mats provided for free, and a nice breeze flowing through the room — though it does definitely heat up once you start moving… good idea to bring a towel with you :)
The service was outstanding, very friendly and welcoming. And the class was excellent — the instructor provided variations for all levels of experience, allowing you to push yourself as much as you want, or take it a bit easy on yourself.
The class was also wonderfully small — there were only six of us at the class I attended. The instructor also added a lovely touch during savasana by coming around and applying a tiny bit of lavender oil to your shoulders as she adjusted you a bit further into the pose — so relaxing, and now I’m definitely going to buy a little lavender oil to help myself relax at home!
A true gem — definitely highly recommended.

I checked out Yogaloha for their anniversary too and ended up trying the monthly unlimited membership! The instructors are very good here, they vary the classes each time so there is always something new to look forward to. I love the high quality mats they provide (for free!), they also have spray down solutions and the usual yoga equipment (blocks, straps etc). The bolsters are slightly smaller than I’m used to, but we don’t use them too much in the vinyasa classes, so no big deal. The studio has always been REALLY clean each class, which is great and despite no AC, they usually have the windows open and the fan on which really helps. Definitely give them a try! The best studio I’ve found in Waikiki!

Went to check out Yogaloha for their 2^nd Year Anniversary. Smack dab, in Waikiki, is a spiritual oasis of a building. It looks like this building belongs on a beach. And that is the energy and vibe throughout the facility, which is home to multiple boutiques and a café. Parking is tricky, so we used Lyft. We were dropped off right in front, to be greeted by beautiful winding stairs up to the second floor. Instead of immediately entering a studio, there is a beautiful reception area which holds cute yoga clothes, oils & jewelry. They offer really delicious strawberry and kiwi water, which we couldn’t get enough of. We went to the 5:00 Power Yoga class with Jackie. The studio is out the boutique along a balcony, which is home to numerous surf boards. The studio is a little small with no mirrors or large windows, however, it makes for a much more intimate and special experience with the instructor. The studio is still very relaxing. Jackie is very challenging and encouraging. I felt that Jackie’s yoga practice was very spiritual and meditative, not only an athletic workout, more like a rhythmic dance. I was really pleased with my experience. If I lived closer to Waikiki and the parking was better, I would definitely sign up for monthly membership!

I live in Waikiki and this little gem is a great yoga studio… and I’m not even a yogi! I usually go to 24hr fitness but when I need a change of pace, their yoga teachers provide just that. I’ve taken Courtney’s 7:30p class and that was a pretty good workout. Also tried the Monday night candlelight class with (Kesha?) and if you need to relax, that’s a good one. Metered parking across the street if you’re lazy to walk, and they provide mats. Check-​in person is super nice too.

I absolutely love this studio! It is within walking distance from my apartment which is very convenient. The décor makes me feel like I am at the beach. All the instructors are very knowledgeable and are great at guiding your practice. I attend the morning classes at 10:30am M-​F and 11am on Sat & Sun. Miro, who teaches Tu-​Thu, is amazing! She is very traditional and explains in detail (in both English and Japanese) what the class will be focusing on. She is one of the best instructors I have ever experienced in the 8 years of practicing! Definitely check out this studio if you live in the area or are just visiting. Mahalo Yogaloha!

If I lived on Oahu, this would be one of my regular yoga spots.
An easy walk from Waikiki Beach, this studio is calm, beautiful, spacious and welcoming.
They advertised online that if you had a birthday, you could come in for a free class. So, on my birthday, after a nice hike up Diamond Head and snorkeling around San Souci Beach, I wanted to finish the day off with a yoga class and so I came here.
The pretty Japanese receptionist was very nice and sweet, but she knew immediately I wasn’t a local (sunburnt and sporting the lobster look), and so she explained to me that she could give me a discount for the class, but it couldn’t be free. Bummer on that lol. I was grateful for the discount and happily paid $ 13 for the class (normally is it is $ 18 a class).
I decided that to start of this new year for me, I would try something different, so I signed up for a Restorative yoga class. And while the class won’t have you sweating up a storm, it indeed is very challenging.
Heather was the instructor and I am happy that she was teaching the class for several reasons. For one, she led a great Restorative class, but also we got to talking, and she told me she was holding a SUP yoga class the next morning and invited me to join. How cool is that? I was actually going to try that on the North Shore, but since the opportunity came up here, I decided I would join her the next morning (review to come).
Restorative yoga is one of the more challenging yoga classes I have taken since I started practising over 10 years ago. The reason? You are only doing a handful of poses, but you stay in each pose for 10 minutes and that is very difficult. The mind wants to wander and fidget and your mind wants to get out of the position immediately. It takes everything in you to refocus and stay in the pose. I found some of the poses on your back to be EXTREMELY difficult and found myself trying very hard to focus on my breath and stay in the pose. It is very much like meditating and it is sooo good to train your brain to be still.
I thoroughly enjoyed the class and will definitely do Restorative yoga again when I need to recenter and meditate. Thanks Yogaloha and Heather for a wonderful birthday and Friday night in Waikiki.

Went for a Sunday 11a session with Maggie, encouraged be a friend (or maybe I invited myself along… whatevuhs!). Anyway, I found this small little studio to be exactly what I expected in Waiks, you’re never going to get too far away from the mayhem, but this is a nice space, carefully and thoughtfully created to help get into the yoga mindset.
Maggie is a topnotch practitioner! A quietly confident yogi who offers the mix of supportive and educating guidance that I prefer. I went again last Sunday and then brought my wife along for yesterday’s (Tuesday) morning Foundation class. Great stuff! I guess it’s pono (righteous) that yoga and aloha flow together so nicely.

I did a Flow class with Maggie.
She created a steady but challenging class for us. She didn’t hesitate to assist everyone. I’d definitely go back to her class.
(She helped a couple of young kids with a lot of patience).

I live right next door to Yogaloha– located on Kaiolu St. (cross Kuhio Ave.). So for someone who lives nearby, or in Waikiki generally, it’s a great location. However, for those who need to drive, it’ll be tough finding street parking. There is a parking lot across the street if you can’t find any– about $ 0.25 for every 20min.
It’s $ 18/​class. The instructors are very different, but offer flexible schedules and are generally good.
My big problem with this yoga studio is that part of me doing yoga is to relax, think and meditate. However, being right in the heart of Waikiki, and along The Bus route, all I hear is the sound of busses stopping, cars, and construction happening just across the street.

For those of you vacationing in Waikiki and practice yoga daily, this is the spot to go! The studio was walking distance from where I was staying so it was super convenient. Also, there was a lot of signage so it was easy to find.
The studio is pretty small so I would get here about 10 – 15 minutes early. In your idle time, you can set up a mat (rental is free! Yay!) and browse at the cute yoga clothes in the front. If you check in on Unilocal you can save a dollar for drop-​in. Unfortunately, they don’t accept out of state student discounts.
Anyway, onto the yoga session– the instructor, Laura, was really fun. Her class was listed as a workout yoga class online but it felt like a vinyasa class to me. Her class had a good pace– not too fast and not too slow. I’m also glad she didn’t talk too much during practice. She was energetic and adjusted everyone’s forms here and there. What I also liked is that she had variety and got to work on inversions! One gripe I have about the practice was it was short! The schedule said it would be an hr 15 min but we got out literally 15 min early! :(AND we started late! Otherwise, it was a fun practice with good music!
They also offer on the beach yoga on Sundays and Tuesday’s in the morning! Nifty! I would totally do it, but they meet by the Honolulu zoo, which is quite a trek for me… and it’s bring your own mat, which I don’t have with me while traveling :(
One huge downfall about the studio is the very limited schedule! They are practically add mid-​morning… I was hoping for some early ones to go to before venturing oahu or late afternoon to wine down after a day of exploring. Such a shame!
Overall, great studio. A bit on the pricy side for drop-​in but worth it to relax and stretch out your spine!

I’ve had some pretty mixed experiences at this place. For now, I’m giving it a three, and I’ll update it later.
The Good:
— Great location in Waikiki, near Lewers and Kuhio
— There are some great teachers there
— The staff are all very nice, super friendly, happy people
The Not-​So-​Good:
— Often really crowded
— Some instructors try hard but their classes don’t flow well
— Terrible, limited class schedule
Open Spaces Yoga has many more classes, and my girlfriend strongly prefers to go there instead. Too bad I still have a multi-​class-​pass from Yogaloha… I guess I’ll use it up slowly.
I think that Yogaloha has promise — I really hope that it improves because the location is so convenient.

In real estate and business, there are three things that really matter: LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! For Yogaloha they’ve got it in a tricky sense that’s helps and hurts…
Living in Waikiki, I LOVE that they are centrally located ! I appreciate that they have an actual yoga studio (not those «meet here and we’ll do yoga at the beach!» because trust me, no one wants to see me doing yoga on the beach!!). The studio is behind a retail store (great selections of clothing and supplies for yogi’s) atop an adorable, newly rennovated two-​story walk up on Kuhio. Inside is bright and clean, and they provide mats (very helpful!).
The downside of the location is that it’s right in the middle of Waikiki… if you need to drive it’s likely tricky to find street parking. If you’re into quiet, meditative yoga, be ready to really focus in deep in order to ignore the sounds of the street (again, it’s the middle of Waikiki… cars, busses, trash trucks, drunks, etc). As with many business and living spaces in Waiks, it’s also quite SMALL in the studio… I can’t see more than 8 people practicing at once, but the upside is a smaller and more personal practice!
They are super friendly, offer unlimited monthly and package discounts package discounts (sign up online ahead of class!) and even give you dollar off for checking in on Unilocal (but buy a package, it’s much cheaper and gives you a chance to try out several of the classes they offer).
Final comment (you’re like ‘geez, hopefully!’) is that I find it odd they don’t really have mirrors. I’m accustomed to doing yoga in front of full-​wall mirrors, which don’t exist here… consider this how you will, I’ve adjusted to it, but it’s still a bit abnormal to me… GO GET YOUR YOGA ON!
