Fast, friendly service. During the cut she kept checking in to make sure that the length & style of the cut was okay with me — which is great, because I usually have a problem with getting haircuts that end up too short. I got just what I wanted and I’ll definitely be coming back again!

Came here today $ 15.71 exactly (not including tip). My barber worked really quickly but with good quality. Took about 20min and I got a nice simple fade done. Definitely recommend for young guys looking to get simple haircuts. Great atmosphere and barbers are very friendly. Will be going back here soon.

Currently living on the mainland but returned home for a wedding. Came here on short notice on a Saturday afternoon and only had to wait 5 min before getting a chair. Parking looks like it can be difficult but there were at least five stalls open when I parked.
This place was recommended by my mom’s friend so I decided to give it a try. The haircut was surprisingly good. They knew how to cut and fade asian hair well and how could you go wrong for $ 15.
Overall the price and product were good. I would return here again.

15 bucks for exactly what I asked for??? Awesome. The parking is an adventure, but so what. Dudes, if you need your lettuce trimmed get it done here.

Avoid at all costs. Major language comprehension issues. Smells like a chemical factory.

Was looking around for a good cut and something new. Unilocaling around and I come across this wonderful barber shop only a few min up the road. Wow. Was I happy. Very friendly ladies and a quick but very well groomed haircut!
They kept asking how I like to style it and the length and I even showed a picture!
You have to try it. And for 14 $ you really can’t for wrong

This place was horrible. I have never been so disappointed in a hair cut before. The lady that I had was the younger one with red highlights. I asked for long layers that «V’ed» out at the bottom and I only wanted 4 inches off the ends. My hair started at the length of my butt and ended up right by my shoulders. She had taken way more than 4 inches, my hair was cut straight across, exactly how I didn’t want it, and the layers looked horrible. I was so mad that I told her to just stop already. Never gonna go there again.

I am very happy that a hair salon and barber shop has opened back up in this space. I used to go to Unicuts when they were in this location, but had been going to Supercuts for the past year or so.
The ladies at Waialae Barber and Hair Salon are just great. I just got my third hair cut there since they opened and I have been pleased each time. Their prices are reasonable, they are friendly, and I have never had to wait. Both Hannah and Marcy do a great job.
Parking can be a bit tough in this lot, but I usually go in the mornings before the restaurants in this little complex get busy. You can park in the pay-​to-​park lot next to City Mill, but you can usually find parking in their lot.

I am a student at UH Manoa and was searching for places to cut my hair. I stumbled upon this salon and decided to give it a try based on all the high reviews. When I went in I thought my haircut was going to be $ 14 but it ended up being $ 24 because I had long hair and wanted layers. The hairstylist took about 45 minutes to layer my hair. It was not what I had wanted at all… she had also put this serum in my hair which made it very frizzy and I usually have very straight, smooth hair. I was unpleased with their service and don’t plan on going there anytime soon. I gave this salon 2 stars because my boyfriend got a haircut and it came out decent.

The boy looks great! Super handsome and the stylist was really nice and listened to him when he wanted some adjustments along the way. Very calm atmosphere, and truly excellent pricing
We came on a Sunday, so there was a bit of a wait, but definitely worth it for a good cut for him at a great price.

Marcy did miracles with my hair. A friend usually cuts my hair but she is unavailable for a few months and I was looking pretty shaggy. I «Yelped» to find a place near home and this salon had the most positive reviews in the area. Marcy and the other ladies were very helpful and supportive. The price was right, my hair looks and feels great and my bf is going to go next week to try them out. He likes how Marcy cut my hair.

Hannah cut my hair and she did an amazing job. I showed her a picture of the kind of look I was going for and she seemed to immediately understand exactly what I wanted. She was pretty fast — took under 25 minutes (skipped having my hair washed) — and very thorough.
The place is very clean and there are many different products and tools for the hair stylists to work with. The location and hours are extremely convenient. The pricing is exactly within my budget range. I am so pleased with my haircut and will definitely make this place my regular salon.
Edit: I just went there again today and Marcy cut my hair. I had her remove about 15 inches of hair. This is the shortest my hair has ever been but I absolutely LOVE how it turned out. Marcy did a FANTASTIC job and I can’t give her enough credit. This is hands down the happiest I have ever been with any haircut I’ve ever gotten.

If you’re looking for Hannah and Marcy from Fantastic Sam’s Waialae… look no further. They now have their own shop next to Kaimuki SushiMan on the corner of Waialae Avenue and St. Louis Heights.
I’ve been getting my hair cut by Hannah for over 10 years now. She has always done a fantastic job and remembers just how I like it. They are very professional and knowledgeable in what they do. I TRUST and RECOMMEND both Hannah and Marcy to everyone I meet that is looking for a new hair stylist. My Wife and Daughter also get their trims and cuts done at Waialae Barber & Hair Salon.
I cannot rave about them enough. If you don’t believe me, I urge you to try them out yourself. You will not be disappointed!!!

Though I don’t really know Marcy, I’ve been going to Hannah for the past few years and was delighted when I finally found out where she had moved to! I can’t say enough good things about her and her service (others must feel the same, when it’s often been difficult to get an appointment, although Hannah will always offer an apology if she can’t offer her service at the exact time that’s most convenient for me– that’s not a big deal– I’ve re-​found Hannah! Marcy… does a terrific job each time. Ample parking if you go before or after the lunch hour rush. They are located at the corner of Waialae Avenue and St. Louis Drive, across from City Mill. Next to Sushiman. Reasonable prices too! Get your hair done and take home lunch or dinner.

I have had my hair cut by Hannah for over 5 years now. She is perfect for me. Although I have always kept my hair to a simple short style (buzz cut action), my head is square in the back and I’ve always had a hard time finding a stylist who will take the time to manually round the «corners» of my hair, haha. Hannah is one of only two stylists I’ve ever trusted to do this because she takes her time and makes sure you like it before she’s done. Thus, after she left Fantastic Sam’s in Kaimuki, I gladly followed her to her new shop.
This new shop is clean, and comfortable. They are ready for business and always so kind. And yes, the parking situation is not always ideal, but I have always been able to find parking since they opened and honestly she is worth the small amount of extra effort to find parking and exit the small lot.

This is a new shop, but you’ll probably see several people mention Hannah and Marcy by name. Why? They were at the Kaimuki Fantastic Sams for years. When they abruptly disappeared (Fantastic Sams said Hannah was sick and not coming back, and that Marcy wasn’t cutting hair anymore. talk about BS), like others, my first thought was to call around nearby shops to try and find them. Imagine my surprise when I found out they opened up their own shop!
I’m giving them a solid 5 stars, for salon/​hair needs in this price range — cheap! I’m not comparing them to Paul Brown or anything, just the typical small barber shop down the street kind of thing.
My aunty used to cut hair for years and while she doesn’t anymore, she’s educated me on what makes a barber good. For one, Marcy uses a comb and scissors to cut my hair. Another shop I used to go to just used a buzzer and finished in ten minutes. Secondly, everything is clean. The floor is kept clean and so are their tables. My haircut always comes out the same and exactly how I want it. I don’t even have to say anything anymore, I just say I want it «the same» and she remembers.
Another big thing (to me anyway) is that they’re just genuinely nice people. Their former employer is bad-​mouthing them and saying stuff like they’re no longer cutting hair, when they KNOW they opened up a shop. All the more reason why I’m coming here now!
Take note that this place does NOT accept credit/​debit cards at this time.
Suggestion to Hannah and Marcy: Square and PayPal offer credit card payments via iPhone/​iPad/​Android phones, for a 2.75% flat fee per transaction. I highly recommend accepting credit/​debit cards because a ton of college students simply don’t carry cash on them.
