What made me writing on Unilocal (not just looking for nice restaurants) but because of my great experiences at Vstyle which is located across Kapiolani Blvd opposite to Ala Moana Mall.
I was looking for a change to a new look with high light, so I decided to give it a try at v style and fortunately I was attended to by this lovely lady– Vicky who is the co-​owner of Vstyle .
My hair has been long for many years and after talking with Vicky, she suggested to me a new style with bang and matt tone to highlight the whole head.
What impress me most Is that she did my hair with HEART. For every high light, she started with small chunks of hair and wrapped them with lots of layers of foil paper. Then she trimmed my hair with fringe and cut out my hair into mid length.
The result was amazing, I felt so fresh and great with the highlight. Now my family and friends tell me I look 15 years younger. Amazing!
I highly recommend Vicky. She also does wedding hair and makeup. She is professional, reliable, understanding and attentive. She has great talent with her tasteful eyes .
I definitely will come back to her again soon!

I needed a make up hair person for my 10 year anniversary, Vicki responded very fast to my message and was able to fit me in. She had a studio in the heart of honolulu.
My make up and hair was done in time and I loved the result. She listened to me and that was very important. She even gave me blotting paper and extra lipstick for touch ups. I highly recommend her :)

Dawn and her assistant did my hair and make-​up for a wedding I was in in Hawaii. Given their crunch for time (they still had to do a wedding party after me), they still made me feel like they were attentive to my wants & needs and didn’t rush the service at all. It was my first time doing airbrush, I highly recommend it. Dawn was adorable. she made me a plate of fruit & nuts to go!

Vicky is amazing! I was looking around for make up and hair artists since I was from out of town and my fiancé and I were coming for a friend’s wedding and decided to get engagement pictures here. Well vicky came and saved the day for me because she was available and so accommodating. I’m usually worried about artists and doing makeup on Asian faces and when I asked vicky, she said she had lots of experience doing Asians. I did expect that since she’s a fellow Asian herself but just needed to be sure. She’s had over 20 years of experience.
I came into her salon and she started on me quick. She’s very fast and knows what she’s doing. Just give her a picture or an idea of what you want and she can replicate it. I also showed her pics that I thought were pretty natural looking in the pictures and she said that the models had a lot of makeup on in order for it to show in the photos. I let her do her things even though I was afraid of heavy makeup or eye shadow! She definitely knew what she was doing and talking about.
She’s very friendly, can hold conversations easily and is highly skilled in what she does. She did airbrush makeup on me and it looked flawless. We did have some bang trouble with my hair but she fixed it and kept reassuring me that it was going to be OK to which by the time our engagement shots came around, my bangs calmed down.
I recommend vicky for your beauty and hair needs. She is so talented and such a doll!

Vicky is great. She was on time, friendly, and made me look flawless. She captured the look I wanted very easily. She’s very efficient and you can tell she knows what she’s doing.

She is one of the best stylist i have ever met. I had highlights and i colored black on the top. I had an absolutely messep up hair but she did a great job on my hair. She did exactly what colored i want, she was so patient and so professional. I cant trust any other salon after met Vicky. She is so nice, she has reasonable prices and wonderful talent and beautiful smile … I m so grateful about her .i highly recomended her to anyone…

Vicky did a remarkable job with my hair and makeup for my wedding! I have long, thick hair and she came to my hotel room ready to tackle it all. She was so patient and did a remarkable job… my husband (still giggle when I say that) says that we should come back each year and get all dolled up again for an anniversary dinner.
I would recommend Vicky to anyone looking for hair and/​or makeup in O’ahu!

Vicki is the most amazing make-​up artist I’ve ever encountered — her perfection and SPEED are incredible!!! And her price is SO reasonable!!! She showed up early to set-​up and was done with my hair AND make-​up in about an hour. The best thing is that Vicki does airbrushed make-​up so it’s super lightweight and stays set ALL day and night. Vicki is amazing, highly highly highly recommend!

Vicky is incredible! I booked her very last minute for my brother’s wedding, and she did an incredible job. I showed her a few pictures, and within an hour she had finished my hair and make up. My hair was perfect all day. Even when I went to take my hair down (13 hours later) it was still looking great!
On top of it all, she is as sweet as can be and fun to girl talk with :) Book with her!

Vicky is fantastic! I had her do my JR and Sr prom and also my wedding! Hair and make up was perfect every time. I also go to her every 4 months to get my hair trim. She is the only one I trust to cut and color my hair. Unlike other salons where they cut your hair waaaaay shorter then you wanted. Vicky always cut my hair the right amount of length and when she hi lite my hair it always comes out the perfect color! She is super nice and she care for her clients, she takes her time with you and follow your every needs.
If you have a wedding or any special occasion or a simple cut and color, go to Vicky!

Like everyone else has said, Vicky is awesome! I hired her for my wedding/​renewal of vows. I did a trial session with her, and she did the full works. She didn’t just do one side of my face or partial of my hair. I was actually able to take my prewedding pictures that evening (at the spur of the moment) and I looked flawless. She gave me suggestions and listened to what I wanted.
I have acne prone skin with scarring on my cheeks, but Vicky was able to cover them up. My skin looked flawless. :) I felt the most beautiful I’ve probably ever felt. She also did a great job on my MOH, Mother of the bride, and Mother of the Groom. Everyone was impressed.
In addition, her prices are great! I shopped around on pricing for on site wedding prep and she was one of the cheapest. Yet, her quality of work isn’t cheap. I’d highly recommend her for any special occasion.

I came here to get my nails done for the first time. I’ve seen this salon whenever I walked by every so often and I thought I’d give them a try since it was convenient and they have parking in front. It was average in décor, not as fancy like spas or the salons in Ala Moana Center, but I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness, quality and reasonable prices.
The salon is owned by sisters, one specializing in makeup and hair, the other in nails. They also do house calls for bridal groups. The salon was very clean and they had a HUGE selection of O.P.I. nail color organized by shades. Being a former cosmetologist and nail tech myself, I tend to observe the skill and quality of service. Lucy did a great job on my mani/​pedi. It was only $ 38. She also took her time and tested a couple of colors on me to help me make a decision. I was impressed with the overall experience. She is easily the best nail tech that has ever worked on me! I don’t think anyone has ever cleaned under my toenails so thoroughly! Sometimes I feel like other nail techs rush and practically push you out the door, even when there isn’t other customers waiting. Being that I’ve gone to school to learn this stuff, I would notice if they skipped a step or did something half-a$$ed.
Lucy was very kind-​hearted and personable too. I found out that her family cooked and delivered 100 free meals to the homeless on Thanksgiving. They would split up and drive around finding people who didn’t make it to the Blaisdell or other soup kitchens. I asked if it was through her church or other organization, but she said no and that they just enjoyed doing it. I thought, wow! what a special family!
Now I think I’ve found a place to come to as a regular for nails. I’m going to tell all my girlfriends about this place. I have yet to get my hair done there so I can’t rate that. But I would recommend an appt for hair services there since the hairdresser is sometimes out on house calls. Even those services are affordable. Here’s their website with price list for services:

Vicky was a star on my wedding day. She’s friendly, prompt and everyone loved their hair styles (she magically did ‘up-​dos’ on short hair, which looked awesome on the ladies). We had 10 people to ‘do’ and Vicky brought an assistant that was excellent (and also spoke Japanese making things easier for my Japanese in-​laws). I felt beautiful with my airbrushed makeup and my hair stayed in place all day and night. Bridesmaids were about $ 60 a pop, moms were $ 50 and my hair and makeup was $ 120. Definitely less expensive than other quotes I got out there and she came to us which was another perk.

All I have to say is Vicky did a wonderful job with my bridal makeup and my bridesmaids. She had everything on hand, her airbrushing technique was perfect. She even made my girls lashes look beautiful!
From lots of researching, Vicky was the most affordable for a budget girl like me.
If you are looking to have a different face once you’re done, than I suggest you go to those places that can cake on makeup so that you look like a totally different person. What I liked about Vicky is that her style is natural. She will enhance what you already have without caking on the makeup. Her airbrushing technique allowed the foundation to go on evenly and naturally without looking like my face was just plastered with concealer and foundation.
With five of us girls we were done in about 3 ½ hours and we all looked beautiful! Thanks again Vicky!

An important quality that I looked for in the make-​up/​hair vendor was their ability to be strong in BOTH make-​up AND hair.
Vicky is good in make-​up but very weak in hair.
For my trial, she was not familiar with hair extensions (she told me she was well-​versed in it) and messed it up bad!
I wanted to see how well the hair would hold up so I went to grocery store after the trial and about an hour later when I had went home, my hair was a mess and falling apart (NOT GOOD) After taking pictures of my updo… hair was just placed everywhere, not even and just very crooked!

Due to my flakiness, I did not book my makeup artist for my wedding until the last minute. And boy am I glad. I found this gem of a makeup artist online. She did my bridal makeup and my bridesmaids and we all looked beautiful. Vicky and her sister run a tiny spa near the mall and they will give you the full course bridal treatment. A few days later, Vicky came to my hotel room and primped and airbrushed my 3 bridesmaids and myself (all of us over 30 and freckled) into gorgeous Hawaiian dolls. She did such a good job, my dad did not even recognize my two best friends because he has never seen them look that good (and he has known them since teenages). I have been a bridesmaid 3 times (and I am from NYC) and none of the makeup artists ever did a good a job as Vicky.
