UYE Ray’s Cafe Dinner #6

All i can say is that i have been to all six of Paul C’s UYE’s at Ray’s Café and all i have to tell everyone is that if you haven’t been to any of Paul C’s UYE’s you just don’t know what your missing. Getting into one of Paul C’s UYE’S is about as difficult as Guy Hagi tryimg to get the weather report correct. It’s that hard.
But for this UYE at Ray’s Café #6, the menu was Rack of Lamb or Prime Rib and King Crab Leg’s Surf n Turf. What can you say about Ray’s Café that no one else has? Chef Felix dishes out some of the BIGGEST and BADDEST dishes at prices so dirt cheap you just scratch your head and wonder how in the world can he keep things so cheap?
It’s always fun seeing the same people here like the usual suspects such as Pam H and Jon C, Darrell and Sophie P, Jin B, Kimo S, Jennifer S, Jon N, Adrienne B, Janice H, Daniel C, Victoria M, Jacob N, Gary N, sorry if i forgot the other’s and meeting some other UYE Ray’s café virgin’s in real life such as Judy C and husband and Jules Y who i finally got to meet in person.
Before the entrée’s came out i though i would go over to Roast Duck Kitchen in Aiea and pick up some Crispy Gau Gee which i think is one of the BEST on the island and also picked up some Lilikoi Butter Cream Roll’s from Ani’s Bakery which i think would’ve been a nice addition because we did have some fellow Unilocaler’s who couldn’t eat any meat.
Drinks were flowing as usual throughout the evening and i thought i would make some Creamsicle Drinks made with Orange Whipped Vodka, Fanta Orange Soda, and Whipped Cream. I also brought some Crown Green Apple as well.
What made this particular UYE special was that it was also Paul C’s Birthday and Daniel C bought a beautiful Birthday Cake for Paul and that was a nice touch. Also the cupcakes supplied by Darrell and Sophie P were phenomenal as well.
In ending, it was once again an epic evening with good food, good friends, and another amazing whipped up by Chef Felix. He is definitely the man. I love that guy. And to Paul C and David T, you both were amazing hosts once again and salamat for the Spanish Roll’s from Nanding’s Bakery as well.
On a side note, i just want to give you all a little heads up. Paul C is gonna have a UYE at Ray’s Café #7 in late October so you better keep yours eyes peeled on the Events page and see if you are be one of the lucky one’s to get access to a legenday UYE that only a lucky 30 people can be a part of. Don’t say i didn’t warn you…

Number 6.
Does it get easier to host Ray’s Café UYE’s? I’ll admit that there is a lot of planning and coordination to execute a dinner here. I’ll stress over many issues for this particular night but when it’s all done and I see many happy faces, including Chef Felix, it’s worth my time.
Each time I bounce entrée selections between co-​host David T. and Chef Felix. This time around it didn’t take much as many Yeeps were dropping hints of «rack of lamb», «prime rib» and «surf-​and-​turf». Previously I had lobster tail so it was easy to have selected king crab legs.
I am overwhelmed by the popularity of this UYE. The seats are filled up QUICKLY. In a matter 30 minutes we already had a waiting list. Yeeps reached out to me via message or in person showing interest but couldn’t get a seat. Apologies to all who were not able to attend. The venue is small so seating is limited.
Upon arrival before 6pm I waited patiently outside as there were patrons still dining. Soon after Yeeps started to show up. While waiting outside we saw Chef Felix turn down customers who walked in. Chef Felix had a mission and that was to serve our hungry group of 30.
This time around Chef Felix set-​up 2 long tables and 1 small table for 4. As soon as we were given the green light anxious Yeeps entered the small restaurant for their seats.
I would like to thank the following people:
1) Chef Felix for once again closing his restaurant for us. In addition for cranking out 30 hot plates of food, the prime rib and king crab legs dinner was given to us at a special price $ 32.95 (regular $ 35.95).
2) Co-​host David T. for planning and coordinating this UYE. For those who have hosted UYE’s it requires time to plan and execute. David’s contribution made it possible.
3) Ramfis B. for sharing with all crispy gau gee from Roast Duck Kitchen, Lilikoi butter rolls from Ani’s Bake Shop and the adult version of Creamsicle drink. Thank you for your generosity.
4) Darrell P. and Sophie P. for those incredible cupcakes from Let Them Eat Cupcakes. I was blown away by such volume and variety you brought that night.
5) Adrienne B. for the bread pudding and coconut macaroons from Nanding’s. I swear, those 2 boxes felt like rocks inside. So heavy!!!
6) Judy C. for the Trader Joe’s and Hershey Kisses chocolates. That was very sweet of you!
7) Daniel C. and Minky C. for that FULL sheet of fresh strawberry cake from Elvin’s. Having everyone sing for me was overwhelming. I felt like a kid that night!
I also thank everyone who attended this UYE for you support. I have hosted or co-​hosted 12 UYE’s now. Cathy T. and John N. have attended ALL of them and Maka K. is next at 11. I am overwhelmed by your continued support.
At the end of the evening most people walked out with multiple doggy bags of their leftovers. Keep in mind that you’ll never starve at my UYE’s (with the exception of not enough rice). It started to rain so the crowd soon dispersed. But when I walked back to my car and drove home, I reflect back of the evening and saw many, many happy faces. Yes, I may have stressed over this UYE but the time and effort put into this was well worth it.

Paul never disappoints and this night was a bonus! It was Paul’s birthday too! Much thanks to Daniel and Minky for picking up that delicious strawberry cake.
For the feast, I ordered the prime rib and king crab combo which featured a pound of each served with rice and either green salad or mac salad. I got the green salad and poured French dressing on it.
Besides the main course, fellow friends and Unilocalers made it an epic meal! They brought assorted desserts and alcohol. I passed on the alcohol but indulged a bit on the desserts. Thanks so much everyone!
If you haven’t been to a Paul UYE yet, you definitely must! Paul goes above and beyond and puts so much effort into every UYE he hosts. He can be frequently seen helping the employees even though he does not work there. Happy birthday Paul!

I’ve heard about Paul’s Ray’s Café UYEs a many of times; the same way I hear Urban legends. The stories come far and wide but few have experienced it. I know Paul is a killer host but Rays sounded like the one I had to go to. I saw the event post & clicked in with the hope of a coveted seat in this tiny establishment for the epic meal I had heard so much about. It was jam packed within minutes and wait listed I was but I crossed my fingers and lucky me, the week of I got in! I felt like I had just found Bigfoot. Belly, be excited!
David and Paul hosted an awesome UYE filled with great company, food and entertainment. I have to shout out to Ramfis as well as I saw him working hard to dish out pupus to the tables. Gau gee, lilikoi butter rolls and Spanish rolls from Nanding’s graced my mouth. Yummy! For this UYE you could chose the Rack of Lamb or for Prime Rib with King Crab legs and a side of the famous fried chicken. Chef Felix did a beautiful job with all the food and it was delicious! I ordered the lamb which was cooked perfectly, slightly pink, deep seared & almost juicy. Tossed salad, asparagus and rice accompanied my plate which ps: HUGE. So much meat. My boyfriend got the Prime rib/​King Crab so I got to try that as well and I was impressed again by how much food we received and how well coked it all was. Of course we tried the chicken too and NOM! Crispy crust, juicy flavorful meat — total winner. Just when I thought I was going to explode, various cupcakes, bread pudding, macaroons — plus a beautiful birthday cake for Paul!
There are 30 awesome Unilocalers I could list here as the best company but there’s no need to be crazy. Thank you for the laughs and good times. Huge thank you to Paul and David for hosting and to Chef Felix for shutting down and hosting us. Such a great experience!
If you get the chance, come to a Rays Café event… You won’t regret it!

This is my very first UYE & it is an honor to be on the list, double honor since my +1 made it in also. I got a message from Paul that there is a cancellation. (Sorry paul, I took long to get back to u re: my order) & the day of UYE, there was another cancellation & my +1 was next on the list. Thank you also for accommodating my meal request!
OM! The prime rib/​crab combo comes out & WOW! Very huge portions! The crab legs are huge! The melted butter goes so perfect with the crab. I also got the add on 2 piece chicken, for 3.00, (this is a deal!!) wow! The chicken was so hot, crispy, & juicy! Loved it!
The meal also came with side salad. I brought home my leftovers, I can’t wait to eat them!
Since it was Paul’s bday the day before, Daniel & Minky brought cake, Thank U!
I’m so glad we got to sing & wish Paul a Happy birthday, since we had to leave early.
in Conclusion, great friends, great food, great fun, & alcohol all at this UYE #6! What a perfect start to the weekend!

I can’t wait for UYE #7!

It’s always fun at Paul and David’s UYE at Ray’s Café. Tonight was special because it was Paul’s birthday! The restaurant was packed to help him celebrate this special day. They actually overbooked! Paul and David are such great hosts that they even stood the entire time eating and hosting the event. If you haven’t been to this UYE then make sure to RSVP to the next one, there is a reason why it’s booked minutes after he posts the event. We feel very lucky to have been on the list to attend.
Tonight we had a ton of desserts and different drinks to accompany the meals. Choices were Prime Rib and Crab Legs, Rack of Lamb, Fish and side order of Fried Chicken. I’ve been wanting to try the Rack of Lamb so I ordered that. It was cooked to perfection. Mink just wanted a side of Crab Legs and that was delicious. It was so much food that we had some Crab Legs to take home. We both had a great time full of great food and desserts.
Thank You Paul and David for another great UYE at Ray’s Café. Special thanks to Felix for having us and for cooking up some amazing food! Can’t wait for the next Ray’s Café UYE… number 7 I believe.

For sure go if you can make the date to these. Sure worth it to attend! I’m stuffed yet still made 3 take out boxes bc I literally ordered everything haha Yipee-​Yay!
