UYE Music Music Just wanted to say –Mahalo Nui Loa to everyone that came to one or both of our Iron DJ Competition UYEs. I’m so glad that so many people were able to see how both the Safehouse presents a great happy hour– which from what I hear many Unilocalers both enjoyed and saw for the first time and the Republik that brings wonderful music events to HI. We had some Unilocalers that had never been to a UYE and some people brand new to Unilocal– wonderful! There were both Unilocalers in the competition and as the DJ that night! The mix off in the competition was a challenge between DJs by invite here in HI– they were emailed within the week the song titles of what they had to do LIVE and it was neat to see how each one shined with their own hints of personality. Flash, the host, was always funny with having to say the names of things like the Sugar Plum Fairies and Frozen and all the other songs — that he was a part of choosing. Great Show! Mahalo Nui Loa to Alli for co-hosting this event with me. Special shout out to Jeana P. Jeana was at all of my UYEs and we even tried to have a UYE at Mai Tai but it didn’t fly so well. Even though we advertised it the same as Republik UYEs. Still the Republik UYE was better happy hour and music– this challenge was just better.

Thanks Darin and Alli for hosting the event and providing prizes, trivia, and chocolates. It was great meeting everyone and witnessing local DJs at their craft.

This was such a fun and different UYE! I’ve never had the chance to check out the Republik and the venue was much nicer than I expected. Darin and Ali were great hosts and had a fun game and prizes for us to win! There were a few Yeeps there who had never been to a UYE before and it was nice meeting new people.

I applaud anyone who tries to host a UYE that is not centered around food! I think Darin O. and Alli C. made great cohosts for the night. Not only did they pick a really cool place like The Safehouse for happy hour drinks and some pupus, but they also put together a short game in with fun prizes that were all center around the music theme, and that takes effort, people! Shout out to my teammates Cathy T. & Daniel C. for us being collectively music literate enough for us to win some CDs, and for celebrating with shots! I actually had a really great time in a place that I normally wouldn’t go to! Turns out it’s much nicer than I thought, and I got to hang out with Unilocal friends, meet new ppl like Jeana, and bond with our Unilocalterns Raelyn B & Alli!

My first time ever attending a UYE and it was fun. Stepping in a place like The Safehouse for happy hour was WOW. My first thought was«Am I properly dressed for this place?» Being a newbie at a event I felt kind of out of place… thanks to Darin O. and Alli C. for including me and welcoming me in the group. It was good to meet other Unilocal members for the first time. Menu items were $ 2.00 off the regular price during happy hour. I ordered the rib eye skewers which was delicious and the bacon dog which was not what I pictured in my head. Thank you to Unilocal member Randall who gave me his last burger slider. I got stuffed to the max. I even ordered my share of drinks while sitting at the bar. After awhile I ventured over to the venue side of the Republik. Nice and spacious area. I liked the display case of all the hards. I watched the DJ’s work their magic and getting the crowd going. Some of the songs I recognized and I started to dance on the spot. I’ve been asked by Maka K. and a couple other members on why I decided to show up at the event. My honest answer was that I wanted to check out the place for the first time and that there’s an event happening Thursday night that I plan on attending. Overall this was an awesome and fun event.
