US Post Office

My mail stopped getting forwarded after I submitted my change of address over a month ago. For about a week it was working fine, then mail forwarding stopped and I have not received ANY mail forwarded to my new address in the last 4 weeks.
I have tried to have this issue resolved in the following ways:
1) Called and left messages both with a person and on the machine — no callbacks.
2) Submitted a help request online — took over 4 days to receive a response that ultimately said I need to submit a change of address, which I had already done.
3) Talked to my old postman who said he would check for me. He took a postcard that had my old address and told me to write my new address on it so he could reference it for forwarding. A day later, it was left in my mailbox of my old address. I guess he just re-​delivered it?
I cant seem to get this issue resolved so Im hoping someone who sees this Unilocal review can help.

The post office is ok for many reason, good location, close parking, mostly nice associates.
Today 1:35 pm I had a very bad experience here though. I was waiting in the line, I was the next customer, behind me 3 other people was waiting.
Two clerks were behind the desks, one of them handled the customer who was prior to me and the other clerk was just talked stories to a other customer. They already finished the transaction, but the clerk kept her up and she just talk talk talk. The clerk — name Mei or Mie — saw me, but never stopped to telling stories. I waited like 3 – 4 minutes and I asked them to finish the transaction and start to process me. Both agreed — customer and Mei — I am right, but they DID NOT stop to tell stories!, so an other clerk came out from the back office and started to process with me.
She finished my transaction in two minutes and I left. You will not believe it, but Mei STILL WAS WITH the previous customer telling stories, while the other 3 people were waiting in the line quietly.
I think Mei should appreciate that she has a decent gov. Job in Hawaii and start to do what she paid for: provide average customer service at least.

What I like most about this post office is that there is an automated kiosk for printing postage and accepting small to medium sized packages. What I think could be further enhanced about this office is that I wish I did not have to buy a new roll of tape or bring my own tape each time I want to send out a big box. If trying to send or receive something from the mainland, USPS cannot be beat. Overall, I think the location is very convenient.

Terrible. Don’t even try calling it’s a total waste of time. I haven’t received any mail since August, where is my mail? Nobody knows… Not even the post office. I try to call everyday to see if they have any mail and they NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE.

I have been calling this post office for hours now. It just rings off the hook and no one answers.
The reason I am calling is because I paid for a very pricy item that has been lost in the mail. The tracking says it has been delivered to me last week but it is no where in sight and there is no slip saying I got a package. So do I just eat the cost because I used USPS? This is unacceptable and I’m going down there tomorrow to make a scene and demand an explination. The fact they don’t pick up the phone just adds insult to injury.
I also hate going to this location because it takes 45min to talk to anyone due to the line of tourist mailing stuff out. I’ll never use USPS again. This is the second time they screwed me over. Last time I dealt with them (Miami Biscayne USPS) they sent my package to my neighbords and told me to go get it from him. Isn’t it a crime to give peoples mail away or tamper with it? Is it my job to confront my neighbor and accuse them of stealing my package?

This facility doesn’t open until 9 a.m., which is a little late to me. There are long lines with all the tourists trying to mail things home; however, all customer service counters are never open. Sometimes the wait can be 20 minutes more, which is frustrating when you’re on lunch break.
Optimally, all counters should be open during peak hours to alleviate the long lines and long waits.
The staff are friendly and helpful.

Anyone who knows me knows that if I’m on vacation I’m very likely going to send a few letters or postcards from my destination back home to friends and family. I love writing and I love sending cards; but I don’t always plan ahead. On our recent three day retreat to Honolulu I failed to bring US pre-​paid postage with me, so before breakfast one morning, and before the Waikiki Station had even opened, we were at the doors of USPS hoping for an auto-​kiosk.
With only one person in line ahead of us at the only automated machine, we had a short wait before our turn in front of the computer. She happily printed us a designated number of boring stamps. I wish the automated machines at USPS (all locations, not just this one) allowed you to buy custom stamp prints, and not just the black and white stickers

Omg what a bunch of bogans! I paid for a post office box at this location. I had to leave town to take care of things. I come back 3 bloody weeks later to find no mail. Those bloody bogans never removed the sticker from my box saying it’s closed. So here I am having paid for this for 6 months and all my mail has been returned. To add insult to injury all the mail was coming from important places such as the state and my bank. I have no way to tell if anything else important has been retuned.
Makes you want to hit someone with your yoga mat but that’s not zen and bad karma so instead I took a moment to mediate. Seriously avoid. I understand if they hadn’t been able to do it the first 3 days after I paid them for my box for 6 months in advance, heck one week but three weeks bloody hell!

Just stood in line to ask general questions on address forwarding since
website did not offer all the answers to satisfy my injuries. Maybe I chose the bad rush hour, but it took 20 minutes before I got serviced at the counter. To make things worst, I ended up with a rude postman (thin Asian guy) who seemed stressed out from the long line and took his anger out on me. He told me to go and fill out the form on the side and bring it back so that he can help the next person. Is he ignorant or what, since I already had a completed form in my hand. Why isn’t he listening to the customer (me) and just dictating his thoughts one-​way. When he realized that I had the completed form, he tried to cover up his stupidity by saying that I can request for a address forwarding on line. Just say SORRY. DON’T MAKE EXCUSES. If you don’t want to provide a human service, just quit your job. Oh well, I am glad that today is happy TGIF and Monday is another federal holiday. Avoid getting service from this man. The ladies there are generally very friendly and helpful.

USPO 330 Saratoga Rd, Parking only review:
Used the pre-​paid parking recently. Paid $ 9.00 for 2 – 4 hours. For Waikiki parking, I think this is a very good deal, although this place is really busy. You are lucky if you find the space for you.

A really nice and friendly post office, a complete full featured USPS with all the services, post boxes, hold offs, and other PO box services that you can imagine. Busy yet peaceful, located in a nice corner of Waikiki with ample parking space, something which is super rare for Waikiki or Honolulu in general. And the staffs are very friendly.

If you need to mail something quickly this isnt the place, nor is any other post office. This location was very clean and well sticked stocked with supplies. If you have the opportunity use the automated postal machine it will say you time and is very eas to use and is almost always not being used. This location offers paid parking if youd like to park close to the shopping strip. The prices from parking vary by day and time. Overall this is a post office so there isnt much I can say.

I don’t understand why I have to write a review like this… but I want everyone to know about the risks of this place.
I ordered a phone online, and it was already sent from the person I purchased from. I went online and tracked my package.
I was pretty surprised to find out there was an attempted delivery on Aug. 14^th, since I never got a call about my package and neither did my brother (His number is registered on the intercom since I live in an apartment building). We never got a notice in our mailbox, or the front of the lobby door, which is what we usually see for other people’s missed packages.
I went online and scheduled a redelivery, which was supposed to be for today, Aug. 23^rd. I got a call from them asking me what the package was… so I called them back, gave them my tracking number, and any other information they needed.
It really annoyed me that the person on the other line told me she couldn’t find the package. And she’s gonna have to check with the carriers and call me back.
I waited for their call, but I never got a call back. I called them at 12:45PM (Aug.23^rd), but they never picked up, and now that they’re closed, I’m wondering where’s my call back.
I’m hoping to update this review once I get my package (If I ever get it).

I went here today and I have to admit it was pretty annoying. I actually came here twice. If you come here in the morning, its not so bad because the line is pretty short and there’s about 4 people at the counter.
I returned around 3pm and the line was all the way at the door. Ok, so there’s a line and if you have a little patience, you’ll get through this.
The main thing that annoyed me the most was the thin old Asian male wearing the vest with the monotone voice. He was basically asking each person what they were sending and filling out a small slip. I guess he was making it easier and being proactive by obtaining as much information about your package to save time when you arrive at the counter. Well, it felt like he was more interrogating everyone and you can feel the annoyance and bad air surrounding us. There was only 2 people at the counter and this guy was bugging the hell out of everyone trying to make them feel stupid. He could go head to head with the soup Nazi from Seinfeld. Honestly, I don’t think he was helping or speeding up the process at all but only irritating anyone he came in contact with.
So he finally comes up to me and asks me about what I was sending. I gave him basic cold and brief answers. No freakin’ rocket science here.
He gets done with the line and decides to go back to the counter and assist everyone. I notice one of the customers ahead of me just dropped (tossed) away the slip he gave to her/​him (like who cares).
I realize, he is asking the same questions he was asking us in line, like «do you need to purchase stamps?» «do you need signature verification?» blah blah blah.
Just take my damn money and leave me alone already. Aarrrrgh !
Remember, the thin older Asian guy wearing a vest with the monotone voice (DENNIS). Watch out !!!

The workers here must have the patience of a Saint (or an Angel) — I come here often as I have items to ship to the mainland, and I kid you not when I tell you that I feel like I’m in the twilight zone when I stand and wait in line and listen to the ridiculous-​ness of customers who done gone and lost their minds. Some examples of customers I encounter:
(1) Always missing something, like a sharpie, or shipping tape, or a BOX to ship your stuff in! Get your stuff ready before you get to the counter!
(2) People who have a gazillion questions when they’re at the counter — how difficult is it to ship things out? or pick up mail you’ve had on hold for a few weeks? Must you browse for the cool looking stamps while there are 10 people in line waiting?
(3) People who NEVER have any of their forms filled out. Yes, express mail isn’t going to express mail itself unless you have the right envelope and/​or the labels.
(4) People shipping things in odd containers — someone was shipping a big huge blue plastic cooler filled with, well, whatever was inside it, with duct tape wrapped around the lid area. No joke.
(5) People who drag their open boxes to the counter and asks «can I borrow shipping tape»? Uh no. You’ve got to buy the tape before you can use it.
(6) People bringing in the mailbox key FROM THEIR CONDOMINIUM thinking the large package that didn’t fit inside their regular mail box is at the post office. The guy behind the counter is going «you have to open the mailbox locker in your apartment/​condominium/​townhome» — it’s not here at the post office.
(7) Non-​English speaking customers. I understand — this PO is in the heart of waikiki, where tourists stop by to ship items they can’t squeeze into their suitcase — so no complaint there — but perhaps have some PO workers that speak a different language than English here? I notice a lot of Japanese customers struggling to communicate with you guys.
So KUDOS to the workers at this Post Office for being patient. I have never seen anyone here have an attitude or get all snarky.

The deduction of 1 star — there is a reason. This USPS must have previously been an ice making factory? An ice skating rink? Frozen Meat Storage Facility maybe? It’s FRICKEN COLD!!!
The workers here are wearing jackets and cardigans and sweaters — the people waiting for service — our lips are blue, we’ve got goosebumps and our teeth chattering. Can we get a portable stove installed near the line? (LOL)
All jokes aside (it really is cold though…) it is a very nice post office — pretty big. Lots of PO Boxes, self-​service areas, lots of supplies, greeting cards — great parking lot too.
Keep up the great work. Just wish the customers had some more common sense and have their stuff prepared before they come here. LOL :)

I have to say that the staff at this Post Office is amazing. I had to do a double-​take they were so friendly. Is this really the US Postal Service? Maybe it’s the sunshine, but the service here is great. Lines can be long but extra folks appear and speed things up. If you are in Waikiki and buy too much stuff to fit into your suitcase, stop by and send it home. The pleasant people at this office will certainly be helpful.

Without hesitation, this is a ONE-​star branch of the US Postal Service.
It’s branches like these where I understand why the USPS is losing money.
I came here to send a T-​shirt to a friend. She left it in her hotel room and I was going to ship it back to CA for her. Simple, yes?
Not having a box or anything, I walk in and the only choices available to you are the Priority Mail packages. I grab one, fill out the slip and head to the counter.
«No rush, so I’d like to send this as economically as possible, please,» I say.
«This is the wrong package. You see? It says PRIORITY MAIL. You see? This is the express way. You need a package that doesn’t say this on in.»
«Oh, sorry. Do you sell packages for non-​express mail?»
He then points behind me and I turn around. «You see those plain blue and white boxes?»
«Yeah,» I say.
”No, no! You’re looking in the wrong spot! More to the right!!“
I’m thinking to myself, how in the hell do you know where my eyes are looking when you’re standing behind me? I look more to the right, as directed, and this only frustrates him even more.
«Why are you looking at the entrance?! Don’t you see the blue and white boxes?!»
I look back at where I was originally looking and frustratingly say «Yes, yes, I see them.»
I turn back around and WHILE IM LOOKING AT HIM, he rolls his eyes and does a little huff. Like, what the f*ck?
«Write directly on the package where you want to send it and then bring it back.»
I do, as told, and then bring it back. My unluckiness brings me back to him. Not much is said, I pay, and then I leave.
There are several issues I have with this place:
1. Being in the middle of Waikiki, I am sure there are TONS of foreigners not familiar with the USPS that use this location. It is NECESSARY for the clerks to exhibit patience when providing service to these customers simply because they may not know how to send things correctly. Not their fault! But based on my experience, I almost feel bad for ANYONE that uses this branch because its not fair someone has to go thru the same hissy-​fit the clerk gave me… just to send a simple item. Where’s the aloha spirit?!
2. Package and box placement. AS SOON as you walk in, you only see the Priority Mail boxes. The regular parcel boxes are almost hidden behind the corner leading into the main office of the branch. Why not place them NEXT to the Priority Mail option? Give customers the choice as soon as they enter instead of throwing a product in their face they may not need.
3. No bicycle parking. Why not?
I WILL NOT RETURN. I don’t like giving one stars and up until now, I have’t given one. But it’s almost like the mail clerk I dealt with doesn’t give a crap about my business.

Need to mail something back to the mainland? You’ve come to the right place.
This post office is small. I think they have three counters. The line can be out the door sometimes, but it moves fairly fast. Very convenient, plenty of parking out front. Located pretty close to Hale Koa and Hilton Hawaiian village hotels.

I had a great experience with them. My post office lady had a nice aloha smile =)
The lines are usually long, but nice air conditioned, clean facility to ship out my e bay items. They also have an automated machine that you can weigh, print and ship it out yourself, if it fits in the drop off bin.
I just had a cellphone delivered to our apartment and it all came in one piece, so no complaints here.

This review is overall USPS service on Hawaii, I only listed this post office because it is my current parcel place.
Since moving here to Hawaii, most of my packages are delived from the Mainland, stuff from school, mom, and general online purchases. But 8 out of 10 of my packages delivered to me by USPS have come damaged, lost, or blantanly opened by «someone» and no one can do ANYTHING about it.
I say if my package comes delivered damaged, shipping cost should be refunded, or at least discounted. Why is it that we just have to sit back a watch as we get screwed over by our government employees (im talking about you too TSA).
On the mainland I can’t think of any instant that my mail arrived damaged for any reason, but in Hawaii it is almost a given that something I recieve will have already been opened by some accident, or if I send back my NetFlix they never seem to arrive to Netflix. I have no idea who is getting their jollies out of opening my packages and stealing my previously watched DVDs… why steal ‘Solaris’? that movie SUCKED!
I would give a one star, but Im forced to use USPS because I can not control how people send me things, Meh. I’ve experienced better.
