when its time to choose your career path, there are advantage and disadvantages to different lines of work. was working in a line of work that was unstable, so i went to go check out army recruiting in issaquah. went inside, theres soldier at the front desk there with the information, in packets. you look over the packets, and if you decide to pursue, they screen your criteria (police & medical records) and take aptitude examination on the computer to see if you qualify. lets say, with a degree in engineering, it is possible to enter at a higher rank.
as soon as you sign the paperwork, you then become ‘property’ of the federal government (scary). ACCORDING TO OTHERS: first thing when you join is bootcamp for a couple months. there, they sorta whip you into shape. a lot of conditioning: running, pushups. food is basic. theres code of conduct, drills, and routines in a schedule that is implemented on you and you learn. from what i hear, it can be very grueling and draining: physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually. whatever u want to call it.
someone who is very motivated might enlist as a reserve while working & or going to school. reserves earn couple hundred a month by reporting in weekly or biweekly. there are various branches of service: army, air force, navy, marine. and plenty of information out there on the internet, packets, or brochures u can look through and decide depending on your skillset or interests. then you might be stationed ‘wherever’ and serve doing ‘whatever’.
for some, there maybe proffessional advantages to serving. military generally are held in high regards in leadership, pragmatic work ethic, well rounded in various disciplines such as medicine, engineering, technology, and have access to classified information & connections. what would i reccommend? i believe u should do what u can to gather information and make a sound decision.
for others, when theres a war, troops defend the citizens of United States of America. they make substantial personal sacrafices, may lose a limb or life in the line of battle. so for that reason, we salute and thank the troops once in a while here and there. you’re alright by me.
