I will never forget my first appointment with Dr. Tsuchiya. As I was waiting, Dr. Tsuchiya came dashing in, apologizing for keeping me waiting.(I didn’t wait much at all.) She said she had just come from a «house call.»(WHODOESTHATTHESEDAYS??) She explained that she sometimes makes house calls for patients who are homebound. I was so touched. Bag in hand, she reminded me of Marcus Welby. I will never forget that image. Getting back to why I first sought Dr. Tsuchiya’s help. I was referred to her by my former boss when I began experiencing a sharp pain in my right foot. I thought it may be a callous but it turned out to be a wart. After applying some medicine, she gave me an rx and the wart eventually disappeared. The next time I rang for an appointment, I thought I had another wart. It actually turned out to be a callous that had encased a cat hair! Dr. Tsuchiya took the time over a few appointments to «shave» the skin. It hurt a bit at times, but not as much as I thought it would. However, she was concerned throughout that she may be hurting me, but she was extremely gentle! In addition to being a very kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable podiatrist, Dr. Tsuchiya is a good listener. She asked me a lot of questions, and encouraged me to do the same. She is definitely a credit to her profession.

Dr. Tsuchiya was incredibly kind and helpful. She took the time to examine my injury carefully, explain the situation, and then go through all the things I can do to help recover as quickly as possible. My injury came I the middle of a long trip, so a lot of my concerns revolved around possible scenarios going forward, while I might not have easy access to a physician. Dr. Tsuchiya went through all the contingency plans with me, setting my mind at ease, and gave me some padding to take with me just in case I might need it. I’m very glad that I made the appointment to see her.

Dr. Tsuchiya was very insightful, kind and helpful! I was referred to her by my primary care physician after I had an ingrown toe nail turned infection that left me in pain for the last two months. Normally I can handle taking care of an ingrown at home, but this one was too painful and had gained an infection. When Dr. Tsuchiya took me into her office and examined my toe, she instantly diagnosed the problem. From there, she told me step-by-step what was wrong and what she was going to do. The procedure was as painless as it could be, minus the shots for numbing(I hate needles!!!). Two weeks later, my toe is doing much, much better and I stopped by for a follow-up. I’d recommend her to anyone that has any toe issues.

Dr. Tsuchiya is personable, informative, kind and efficient. Her receptionist, Jody is first class as well. Having an X-ray in hand, she saw me the very day I called and although her office is closed at 3, she saw me at 4 as a new patient. Her office is cool, clean, small but very sufficient. One patient other than myself and there are about 5 or 6 seats if I recall correctly. Dr. Tsuchiya is an Iolani and Loyola Marymount grad. That speaks volumes and even without Unilocal ratings, I felt confident. I am also pleased to be the first to Unilocal her. My own doctor referred me initially to a well known podiatrist nearby but the two times I called to make and then reschedule an appointment were very disappointing. During the first call I made the receptionist was not clearly understood and couldn’t even give me decent instructions to the entry of the building. The doctor himself may be an excellent one but on the second call I made to the office, the woman answering the phone was laughing and talking when she picked up the phone and made me wait until she finished her banter until she finally said, «Hello?» Hey, pick up the phone after laughing, talking, chewing, farting, whatever but don’t make me wait after you pick up. Bad form. Is that the reason I didn’t choose this doctor? It was the final straw… Getting back to Dr. Tsuchiya now, she evaluated my Xray and fracture, taught me how to, «Buddy splint» it, then did it for me, explained how I should be checking and caring for my feet. She clipped and buffed the edges of my claw like bird toenails, showed me that such toenails were not that uncommon by showing me her own reptilian toenail and it pleasantly put me at ease. A doctor for the masses! I like it! I asked a lot of questions, to which she gave me excellent answers and explanations, told me what to expect regarding my healing toe and invited my sister as a new patient since my ever porcine sister may be in need of her services soon. So, she is welcoming new patients and hey, validates parking in the Interstate Building on South King St. although the easiest entry is on Young Street which takes you straight to basement parking. The only downside is that Café Sistina’s delicious fragrances downstairs waft through the lobby and even to upper level offices. Arrrgggghhh! But maybe I’ll just have to give them a visit and write a restaurant Unilocal soon!
