I’ve been doing this event since 2000. Sometimes prepared and sometimes not but It has always been fun an memorable. Just to bad we can’t do the Ala Moana swim and bike through Waikiki route. Everyone smiling and having a good time at the finish.

Running this race for the 2nd time. I did the relay last year! Our team took 1st, and hope to do the same this year. A great event!

A tough event but its worth it. One advice, train. Water is a little rough, we treaded water for about 5 mins before the start. Biking up heartbreak hill at the trun around was rough and running up diamond head wasn’t easy. Overall, I did alright so you will to. Good luck.

You know you want to, Don’t Cha? After finishing Honolulu Marathons in the 80’s and intently watching the local TV coverage of runners doing the very very demanding Ironman Triathlon on Kailua-Kona, one year, I got this itch, I knew those expressions on their faces, I could understand their deep personal focus. I knew that I wasn’t as dedicated or a great athlete as those outstanding people were, and perhaps merely doing Honolulu Marathons just wasn’t enough, and I was swimming and biking there all the time anyway, so, I got brave and signed up. It was run very well, I had never had anyone swim over me before, and I had never swallowed so much seawater before either, I had a great time. Anyone who can do this should be good at all 3 events so they can keep from being swam over or the like, it was a great time. It wasn’t an Ironman to be sure, and I cannot remember being more exhausted and past being sore in every part of my body, however, I achieved a «personal-best», I wore the swimming cap I got in the entry package until it ceased to exist, and I didn’t wash off the runner number they wrote on me for quite awhile,(for safety reasons, in case they find you unconscious somewhere along the course), Do it for yourself, I think that the achievement of finishing something like this is a very personal thing, Enjoy. Do it. Oh, You might burp up seawater for a few days, Lots of Sunscreen is very highly recommended.

750m swim. 40k bike. 10k run. This really kicked my ass. By the time it was time to run, my legs were jello but I kept pushing through and kept sucking down those gel packs. I’m a rooking when it comes to the triathlon world so I had no idea what to expect. But after picking up my packet, the contents inside had everything inside to help answer most if not all of my questions. It included racing tips, course maps, racing rules, a swim cap and a free jamba juice coupon. On race day, checking in was a breeze. The volunteers were all super helpful and did everything in a good mood… even though it was 430 in the morning. For the bike/run portion, cops were at every intersection halting traffic as racers came through. If it weren’t for them, most of our times would have been screwed up… but this must be a normal thing for most triathlons as they are timed events. All in all, this was a wonderful event. I can’t wait until next years as I hope to improve all of my times.
