The Wine Stop

I have been looking for a place to deliver wine baskets to my family back in Hawaii for quite a while. Most of the places to find gift baskets with wine will charge an arm and a leg to deliver to Hawaii. I am so glad that I found Liane and The Wine Stop on Unilocal.I just e-​mailed her and requested a customized basket with a red, white, and 2 champagnes with my budget and she made it work! Not only that, she threw in an extra bottle and was still under my budget! My family was really impressed and said the basket was beautiful! I wasn’t the easiest customer either as I was travelling internationally and had to communicate only over e-​mail. Liane made it so easy and was a pleasure to work with. I’d definitely recommend her.

I was in desperation mode trying to find a gift basket that would be able to be delivered within the day. I called the Wine Stop at 2:30, spoke with a Liane and she was awesome. She said they would be able to delivery within the day and she made great recommendations since I have no clue about wines. I told her my budget and it included the gift basket of wine and snacks along with the delivery! I appreciated her friendliness and the suggestions she made! It’s a great option if you want to send something different.

I just drove over to the Wine Stop and it appears to be closed and changed into a Restaurant. I tried calling, and the mailbox is full… how can I get in touch with the owner? I pre-​paid for the monthly wine club and still haven’t received approx. $ 200 in paid for wine…

I’ve been a patron of The Wine Stop since I got bit by the wine bug at age 21. This shop in a cute house right off of King street is hard to miss, but hard to find parking. They have a great small selection but are very knowledgeable about all they sell. You can find wine, beer, and wine related gifts here. Wine tasting on Saturdays and they also have a wine club you can join for a monthly subscription and sometimes have special wine seminars! The Wine Stop is a great place to have personal service if you need recommendations on what to buy.

Great spot to grab a nice gift for someone or to fine a nice bottle for yourself. Lianne and her group are helpful and pleasant. Other gourmet gifts and craft beers also sold here. Cute cottage and atmosphere. Easy parking for a few cars right out front or else street parking is generally available. I’ve been to a few wine tastings here as well, which is great to go to and explore new wines, never know what you’ll find that could be your next favorite. Check it out!

I was in a rush to purchase a nice wine as a gift. I was originally going to go to Tamura’s, but was in such a rush I decided to go to the Wine Shop since they were closer to me.
I have always wanted to check this place out, but just never got around to it. Finally I found a reason of needing to come here.
Sadly I was a bit disappointed with my visit. Maybe I just came at a bad time, but the shelves were pretty empty. I think they only had about 18 different wines on the wall total (unless that’s normal?). I was in search for a nice Cabernet Sauvignon (red wine), and the Wine Shop only had two to chose from.
Meh, at the same time I was in a rush. So I guess it worked out in my favor. I didn’t have to spend too much time looking at different varieties of wine. But at the same time, that’s the fun part: P
Cookie Points — They might not have had a large selection like I had hoped for, but the bottle of wine I did purchase was really good and reasonably priced.

Lianne is very helpful for people like me who don’t know much about wine. I bought some gifts here, and the recipients were very happy with «my» choices!

When all else fails… Stop at The Wine Stop
Cute and cozy cottage on King Street with a turquoise exterior that can’t be missed. Sits there, a little wine shop with a variety of wine from around the world. Labels of wine from around the world, interesting in that you more than likely won’t find them on your supermarket wine shelf.
They have an email list to sign in to where they will notify you when they have a wine tasting event or, if you have a particular varietal you’re looking for? They will hunt it down for you.
I’ve walked out of the store with impressive finds (and it doesn’t break the pocketbook) and I look forward to my next visit.
TIP: right side (west side) of King Street. You will need to turn right immediately before the turquoise building. Park in the driveway.

The staff at the Wine Stop is so Awesome! I was planning an event for 112 people. I needed 12 bottles for the centerpieces. Not being a wind connoisseur, it was such a relief when Liane helped me select the perfect bottle of Red Wine. It was under my budget and everyone really enjoyed the Wine! I will be back to The Wine Stop!

I love this little wine shop on King Street. They have a great selection of wines and a free wine tasting every Saturday from 1pm to 5pm. I like their wine tastings because they aren’t putting out the $ 100 bottles of wine (which would be nice to taste, but not nice to buy!), they seem to know their clientele and the bottles for tasting are usually around $ 20 and under.
They offer monthly wine clubs and monthly events including beer tastings and a monthly wine dinner.
They carry wine and beer accessories and gifts as well.
The staff is incredibly knowledgeable so feel free to ask questions.
They also do gift baskets! My friend order one for a client with two bottles of wine, a snack and the whole thing came out to $ 50 INCLUDING delivery. Not bad!

Disclaimer: I am not a wine connoisseur, but have a mild case of oenophilia. I love drinking different types of red wine while studying and reading boring case studies and articles. This review is most applicable to college students like me who want to drink an affordable bottle (glass?) of wine after a long day of school and work.
Wine Stop is located on South King street, providing various types of wine (cheap/​expensive, red/​white, sake, etc.). I tend to buy the lower-​priced bottles of red wine which are located in the front-​left side of the store. As stated above, I have no expertise in wine… at all. My duchess status means nothing — I still don’t know the difference between a Merlot and a Cabernet. My strategy in selecting wine is to pick the bottle that has the cutest animal or design label. Even with my unimpressive method, I have never been disappointed with my choices. One of my favorites is the Conundrum (I think it’s a blend, but definitely try it if you’re there!).
The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The highlight of coming to this place, besides learning and buying wine, is having their dog greet you at the entrance of the store.
Tip: There’s free wine tasting every Saturday from 1 – 5 pm. This is great way to learn the different types of wine. Next time I should probably take notes because the staff is knowledgeable and willing to answer anything.

Cute little shop. Convenient and on the way to many things, you can just pull off King and run in for what you need. You can also find something and the service is very friendly.

I like to drink wine. That statement basically covers the extent of my wine knowledge.
This is a great place to visit when you want to impress someone with your wine selection. I’m generally an indecisive person when I have to bring something to a party, so this was a great place to start.
Leave that box of wine at home and let Liane choose the perfect bottle for you. She is a Certified Sommelier, let her help you boost your sophistication points.
This place also sponsors events. I went to a cigar night, which was a great way to spend a casual evening with friends. I bought a bottle of New Age and sat outside with my girlfriends and also met some new wine enthusiasts. It was a nice change of pace from the usual bar scene.

I love how this store is kinda like someone’s house. So cozy! And the staff members are really nice and helpful. You tell them what you’re looking for and they are able to make a great suggestion! Don’t forget to check out the cheese that they have there too! I especially like the gouda cheese with the flavor crystals!

I moved to my new place in October, and have since then passed this cute little shop, well… just about everyday. It must be told that Mr. Cabernet Sauvignon is my only true love– distinctive, bold, lively, rich… just thinking of him makes my mouth water, that dashing devil. So I may have been subconsciously avoiding stepping in, knowing how dangerous it is to live so close by to your affairs, and having that ability to indulge in such sinful pleasure whenever you so desire. But a friend was having a rough day and suggested we have 2 bottle night, looking to the Wine Stop for help. Oh no, what will come of this…
We walked in and were greeted promptly by the sommelier on hand, and by a sweet black doggy by the checkout counter as well, haha. Interesting start. We were asked if we had been there before, and when informed it was our first time, he gave us a nice introduction to the store. We let him know we were looking specifically for cab– the bolder the better– and informed him that we’d like not to break the bank. I was very happy to find that he didn’t judge from a high horse when we mentioned the latter– still catered to us with utmost care. He showed us a fine selection, detailing in depth why he recommended each one. In the end we didn’t hesitate to tell him which wines he had sold us on (worth noting we found later that evening both were exceptional choices). Upon checking out, I noticed there were some interesting hard liquors scattered about, and he told us they had a lot of unique ones, including one made from a coca leaf…
«AGWA! YOU HAVE AGWA?» This liquor I’ve only been able to order at the Irish Rose, so you can imagine my surprise that they have it on sale by the bottle! If you’ve never had it, I highly encourage it. Smooth and delicious, you can take shot after shot without that ugly face produced by most liquors. And boy does it pack a nice punch. Many a great night with Agwa (shh, don’t tell Mr. Cab though!)…
To end, they also have wine tastings on Saturdays and I found out they have fun educational wine seminars twice a month as well. Hurray! For better or for worse, this store has caught me by the mouth and I’m a fan. I’ll be back this Thursday to pick up my Valentine for the evening. ;)

Totally behind on this review, my apologies.
You should hit up this place whether you’re a tourist or a resident. The selection is amazing! My kama’aina friends are frequent shoppers, but I make it a point to stop by at least once when I’m visiting the island.
I’m a tourist, so here’s what I love about this place –
1) Local business. I’m all about supporting the non-​chainy, small, family businesses.
2) Hawaiian wines. Yup. Volcano Winery, with its indie-​looking label implying some sort of homebrew exclusivity, really impresses as a gift. Plus, it’s actually pretty fantastic.
3) They ship. When I run out of a plum sake or something else I just haven’t been able to find in Socal, then I call up the Wine Stop and simply order. Too easy.
A family friend is a total wino, and he’s part of the Wine Club. I’m honestly not sure which membership he chose, but the biggest point that stuck out to me is how thrilled he is to receive his selection every month. His wine cellar is very high caliber, so I can only assume his taste in wines is at least pretty good. If he’s stoked, you will probably will be too. Consider a membership!

Considering that this place is just a retro-​fitted old house, it’s impressive the variety they can pack into the space. I’d be surprised if someone weren’t impressed by all the corners of the world these spirits are sourced from.
Now despite the name, The Wine Stop isn’t just for wine. Though, let me be straight, that’s pretty much all I buy from here. They also carry sakes (kome kome… mmmm), microbrews, even the occasional tequila (totally not a tequila fan).
At the very least, I totally suggest checking this place out for its small laid-​back atmosphere, its completely accommodating service, and its insane selection of worldly wines.

I saw this place while commutting home one afternoon recently, so I decided to make a pitstop to this place and check things out. Wine can be awesome, so you know, just a change of pace from the vodka and beer that I am used to already. I try to support small, local businesses now more than ever, so this place is pretty spot on when you want to patronize this little winery of a shop. From the intial look of this place, you would not see that this business is at all a wine store. I guess that’s how the name of the business is: a stop. Ever the courious type, I ventured into this place and felt like I was in someone’s house and it kinda does — in a way.
I was introduced to wine tasting by this place, since I never had the urge to do so when invited to others by friends. First time for everything — by myself. They had a pretty broad assortment of wines from across the pacific rim — with some imports from Europe as well. Some of these wines are bitter, but some are not really. It just depends on what you like to enjoy and go from there. The staff was great in helping me decide on what I wanted. The staff was very knowledgable in what they are peddling, so don’t be afraid to ask. The prices are comparable to other establishments, but can be on the high side. Support small businesses and you will have that awesome feeling inside knowing you did.
As far as parking goes, I would suggest parking on the side streets for quick in and out. I came by public transportation, so however you do it, you should come here and check things out. There may be a hidden gem here that you may have not seen, if you just check out your favorite haunts. I bought a couple of bottles that day and enjoyed it at home with dinner. They did me right and I hope to come back sometime soon to grab more.

This little wine shop is awesome! After hours of hesitation and frustration trying to decide on a great wine to bring to a wine tasting party on my own, I decided to hit up The Wine Stop.
There was only one sommelier working there yesterday and I am sorry I didn’t get his name, but he was super helpful! I told him I was looking for a nice white for a wine party, that Riesling’s usually my white of choice, but that I was open to trying something new. He descriptively recommended an excellent Riesling, a true French Chardonnay, and a Pinot Blanc. I decided to pick up the Pinot Blanc for the party, as he promised it would be a crowd-​pleaser and nicely suited for fall, and picked up the Riesling for myself. I swear I hear that French Chardonnay singing my name though so I might have to go back and grab it sometime…
The Pinot Blanc (2009 Wolfberger) ended up being very well received at the wine party! =D Pinot Blanc is less well-​known than other white wines such as the Chardonnay and the Riesling, but if you are looking for a wine with fruity aromas – often of apple and citrus – and floral characteristics, then Pinot Blanc is your wine. This particular Pinot Blanc is from Alsace, a French region known for its white wines. As you drink this wine, you experience delicate peach and apple aromas with a hint of almonds. It is medium-​bodied, goes down smooth, and has a clean finish.
I am so glad I stopped by The Wine Stop and look forward to trying out more of their fantastic wines!
