Overdue update — this place seems to have fallen off the face of the planet. It’s been gone for over a year already (or longer… who knows), so this update is probably irrelevant. Guess it just decided to close up shop without any word. What a bummers!

overpriced it cost more than starbucks and its a truck. signs everywhere about recycling but when i had my own cup they had to pour into theirs 1^st what a waste of a cup. not friendly but downright efficient

I’ve been longing for the Portland’s Moonstruck dark Mayan hot cocoa goodness here in Hawaii… and of course I can only enjoy the milk chocolate version with the cocoa powder I’ve stocked up on, but FEAR NO MORE!!! THE CAFE TRUCK is here!!!
The Mexican Spiced Hot Cocoa will bring back all your Portland memories! This is awesome. I bought one for myself, and after taking a sip, I had to go back to buy two more to make a special delivery to my friends. Yes… that good. ^_​_​_​^
Yes, it’s expensive… $ 3 for my petite small cup, but who cares when every sip is pure heaven in a cup!

Oh, and yes, the owner is very friendly and easy to talk to! It brought happiness to my dark, cold, solo night back to my car after my meeting at school~

On a cold, rainy, and overcast February afternoon, the most amazing set of FROSTY COLD BLENDED drinks finally entered my life.
WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN? I searched ALL HOT SUMMER LONG last year for you. I literally drove up and down University Avenue EVERY DAY last summer waiting for you to come back. I called you in September asking if you would come back once school started again. But nothing! I was sorta wishing Mike O. never told me about this truck in the first place because «ignorance is bliss»! Oh how I wanted this famous frozen hot chocolate drink!
When I saw The Café Truck at the corner of University and Metcalf, across from Yogurtland, I flipped a U, illegally parked, and jaywalked just to get me some of this frosty «sugar-​crack dopamine-​ecstasy» drink that Alycia P. wrote about! While I don’t normally condone this type of behavior, I had been waiting for this moment for a long time! Just a warning, once you try a little sip of this stuff, you may find yourself performing illegal behaviors too.
Now before you get all excited and blame me for unnecessary hype, let me explain MY 5 stars «Woohoo! As Good as it gets!». This may very well be «as good as it gets» FOR ME because…
1) I’ve never been to Serendipity 3 in NYC or Las Vegas
2) I don’t drink coffee, espresso, chai lattes, teas etc.
3) I’ve never had frozen hot chocolate before EVER. I even had to ask the girl «Is it a HOT or COLD drink?» (how can you have a frozen hot anything???)
4) I don’t like chocolate. I prefer WHITE CHOCOLATE if I have to eat chocolate.
With that said,
FROZEN HOT WHITE CHOCOLATE $ 6 (large)
There is something about WHITE chocolate that I can’t quite figure out. The pure chocoholics don’t care for white chocolate. I am not a purist. I like white chocolate, and this drink was FREAKING AWESOME. As if that wasn’t enough, it’s topped with freshly-​made macadamia nut flavored whipped cream, which makes this definitely decadent, sinful, and yes, addicting. Not to be shared with anyone.
As I was waiting for my first order, I saw HORCHATA on the menu, and I couldn’t pass that up. You can order it hot, iced, or blended. I ordered it as a small smoothie ($ 4) and it was delicious.
Oh yeah, of course I had to order the famous
FROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE $ 5 (small)
That was good too, but I gave that one to my daughter (because I don’t like regular chocolate, remember?). This drink, in addition to the macadamia nut whipped cream, had CHOCOLATE SYRUP ON TOP! (By the way, they have 36 different flavored syrups you can add to your other caffenated beverages too!)
These drinks probably contain a gajillion calories in them, and have little nutritional value, but so are a lot of other things we eat! I LOVED THEM!
Bonus points for accepting CREDIT CARDS!

Enjoyed Iced Kona Coffee & Hot Apple Cider with a friend. I would say that the drinks were good, but perhaps it took a little bit longer than it should’ve to create. But I do appreciate the UH location this week.

Their frozen hot chocolate is like heaven in your mouth!
I’m literally drinking it right now as I write this review. The first few things that I said to my boyfriend after I tried it were, «You have to try this, it’s like they put sugar-​crack in here. It’s like heaven in my mouth. I have to write a review about this right now!» This went on for a few more minutes as I sat there spouting off how good it truly was in a sugar-​crack induced coma of dopamine-​ecstasy!
Yeah…I’m already addicted. I’m so glad they decided to stop by my ‘hood (Mililani Tech Park) today since I’ve been trying to find them at the Eat the Street rally ever since I heard about their famous frozen hot chocolate. But the day I went to Eat the Street was the day the owner had a heart attack and ended up in the hospital (don’t worry, he’s okay now… in fact, he was the one who warned me that I would get addicted to the hot chocolate, but I digress).
Basically what I’m trying to tell you is… don’t try their frozen hot chocolate if you ever want to live a sane, normal, suger-​crack-​free life again; because this stuff… this stuff is liquid gold. One hit is all it takes to be addicted for life.

The Café truck was parked outside the Friends of the Library of Hawaii booksale. I decided to give it a try after I seen that they sell paninis (I don’t drink coffee). I ordered a ham and swiss and a cup of minestrone soup. Both were excellent. The soup was good and the cheese melty. I liked the maui onion chips on the side as well! I was intrigued to try a frozen hot chocolate but by the time I decided to get one they had packed up and closed shop. To be continued I say.

Hit them at ETS #2. Went for the event combo: $ 8.50 for a frozen hot chocolate & dessert paninni — they even gave 10% off for the malama card. Split it w/​a friend. I was disappointed based on the menu description & reviews. I guess they were rushed so the quality suffered. The frozen hot chocolate had lots of ice chunks in it & could have been more chocolaty. The dessert paninni was barely grilled so it was more like regular pound cake topped w/​nutella — definitely not slathered.
This was the most frustrating queue — they shut the order window for a long time because they were behind on orders & ran out of milk — it was barely 6pm. I hope they plan better for upcoming ETS events.

I really hope these guys stick around. Their menu board is pretty vast for a food truck –coffees, teas, blended drinks and even some food items like paninis and chicken enchilada. So much more than what some store front coffee shops are offering. They’re often parked in front of Yogurtland along University Ave. I’ve been hearing so much about their frozen hot chocolate drink, I had to try it for myself (can it be as good as Seredipity 3?). I ordered the white chocolate version and boy was it good! They’re making an apperance at Eat the Street in Kakaako this Friday so you’ll definitely find me in line again — this time for their dark frozen hot chocolate drink! I hope they make UH Manoa a regular stop on their weekly schedule. I’m sure students/​faculty/​staff won’t mind making the trek across the street once they hear what’s being served up in this unassuming little food truck.

Food trucks are popping out like daisies! Across from UH Manoa is a brownish-​yellow truck known as The Café Truck. They specialize in Kona coffee and a bunch of other blended drinks and teas. Intrigued by it as I’ve seen it for a couple of weeks and of days of sleeplessness due to school, I gave it a try. Their menu is vast and it’s easy to get lost in it as there are options for options…
My first visit, I kept it simple and ordered a small Kona coffee with hazelnut syrup. The small, about 8 oz, for $ 2.00. The hazelnut syrup was also a sweetener, which I wasn’t aware of, so the coffee was a bit sweeter than to my liking.
On my second visit the other day, I decided to get the frozen hot chocolate for $ 5. Yes it is expensive for a 16 oz drink but according to the barista from visit one, he said they’re the only ones in Hawaii that have them and it was inspired by Serendipity 3 in NYC. It was freakin’ delicious! Chocolate lovers, do yourselves a favor and get this! There’s also dark chocolate and white chocolate as well. Their homemade macadamia nut whipped cream was great too. Hints of coconut and possibly almond. It was possibly the most perfect drink I’ve had, so good!
Mr. Barista Man told me to be careful as the frozen hot chocolate is addicting and he wasn’t kidding. I plan to make this a weekly treat but I’ll only be at UH for a couple weeks longer since I’m graduating soon. I wished I discovered it sooner :(
