History
Established in 2014.
We promise to be the best part of your vacation while bringing to you the authentic culture of our island home. That’s the mission statement that founder Leo Malagon had in mind when the Big Kahuna Lū’au was created in 2014. Out of a genuine desire to share the richness and beauty of Hawaii, her people, and her culture, Mr. Malagon searched to find the most impactful way that he could represent his love for the host culture.
Located atop Mount Tantalus and cascading over Pu’u U’alaka’a Round Top Drive (Hawaiian for ‘rolling sweet potato), the 22-acre dream estate was built in 1925. One of the island’s best kept secrets, this mountain top retreat has hosted the likes of Frank Sinatra, Clark Cable, and Elvis Presley. Now under the care of Discover Hawaii Tours, Mr. Malagon plans to preserve the beauty and Old World grandeur of the Honolulu Ridge by hosting the Big Kahuna Lū’au for many years to come, stewarding the land with respect and aloha.
