Today I came here and tried their crab meat soup. It is yummy and broth was pretty good. This place doesn’t get so packed on the weekends but I love that because I am able to chill and relax in a more quiet restaurant. This place is the same owner as the one in Kaimuki too. Great service and overall good food!

By chance and with the help of Unilocal,we had lunch here while wandering around Honolulu’s Chinatown. There are a lot of Vietnamese restaurants in the area, and what I really wanted to try was the fancy-phở from Pig and the Lady, but they were closed at the time. The phở broth here is super flavorful and clean. I prefer a clean, non oily broth and this suited me just fine. I would give Super Phở 4 stars except the other two items we ordered — the egg rolls and the spicy papaya salad, didn’t do me right. The egg rolls were a bit thin and dry, didn’t pop in my mouth as much as I had hoped for. The papaya salad, fresh, but could have been livelier. The phở however was indeed super.

This place is great because it’s right across from the Lao Market(which I frequent). There’s metered street parking and also a parking lot IF you really want to pay $ 6+ for an hour or so. The phở is pretty good and comes in one size. They give you plenty of vegetables to add. Menu is extensive and easy to read. I got a craving for banh khot(mini pancake) and settled for the banh xeo. Their banh xeo was HEAVENLY! It was everything it’s suppose to be: crispy, delicious, and filling! The filling has pork, shrimp, beansprouts, and onion. It comes with a side of lettuce, mint, cucumber, pickled carrots and radish along with dipping sauce. If you’re thinking about getting it be aware it’s finger food so it can get messy! Ask for more napkins! There’s a bathroom in the back. The tables are always cleaned right after customers leave. There’s a couple tvs for background noise and entertainment. Waters are always checked, filled, and cold. Friendly service.

Let’s just say I come here often enough where our genuinely friendly Vietnamese hostess/waitress knows just how I like my papaya salad by heart. Must also try the bbq chicken– it’s sooooo much better than any other Vietnamese place bar none! As my husband would say: it’s like they cook w/love here, you can taste it. Ironically the one thing I feel is mediocre here is the phở.

Drove past here before catching my flight back home. I realized I haven’t tried phở in Hawaii yet after staying for almost a week and I’m glad I stopped by here! I didn’t trust some of the phở restaurants I’ve seen throughout Waikiki, unsure if they’re authentic or good or not and the high prices scared me away. This restaurant is deep in Chinatown, right next to the Laos market. My bf actually chose this restaurant since I would pick out where we would go eat at when we were in Hawaii, and I wouldn’t have even noticed this restaurant if he didn’t point it out. It was really slow when I went, me and my bf were the only customers there so service was really quick. I ordered the #1 dac biet, asked for the rare steak on the side but should’ve just told them I didn’t want it because I didn’t even touch it. Anyways, the broth was outstanding!!! Very authentic. It tasted almost just like Phở Anh Dao in Sacramento. My bf liked it too and agreed it tasted like it too. The prices, however were a little more than average. The worker,(perhaps the owner?) was really attentive and always made sure if we needed anything else. I am definitely coming back here for phở if I am ever in Oahu again.

We’ve walked by this place dozens of times and never thought of stopping in. Tonight was different. I was with my good buddy and Vietnamese Food Expert Theresa who said we must try the Meat done 7 ways. OMG! It was amazing. It’s designed to share and each course is special and tasty. Byob also. Service was great!

I discovered this gem while visiting nearby Sunflower Café here in Chinatown a few days before. Just because I was walking with my Unilocal elite friend where we parked to Sunflower Café, and we noticed Super Phở along the way. Best believe that this is Super Phở’s sister restaurant here in Chinatown, where the original sits in Kaimuki. You can tell that they opened up this Chinatown joint fairly recently, as everything looks band spanking new. Everything is clean and organized to a tee. I must admit I was skeptical at first, but any day for Phở is a definitely a good day for sure. I decided to have lunch with co-workers here at Super Phở for Christmas Eve, as my Christmas present to them — instead of braving the shopping malls and buying gifts. It’s way easier to just treat people out to lunch or dinner this way. Trust me on this! With that said, the prices here was reasonable, with the bowl of Phở(1SIZEONLY) pricing out at $ 8.99(without tax). My co-workers and I arrived here about 1pm on a brisk Christmas Eve day 2014 with just a hungry stomach and a way out of the office for just a short amount of time. Our fall back place was Phở My Lan, a short block away, but thankfully, they were closed for the day, per the sign on the door. We lucked out and both of my co-workers were glad that I picked this spot for Phở. This Super Phở authentic Vietnamese restaurant is located at 1145 Maunakea Street in the heart of Honolulu’s Chinatown. Parking is very limited around this area, but thankful there is street parking where we could locate it. Yep, we got lucky when someone decided to pull out of one while we just so happened to be approaching the spot. In any event, your best bet would be nearby parking spots for $$, metered street parking, and even covered parking garages nearby(ie Chinatown Cultral Plaza parking garage). If you are like me, many public bus routes roll through the downtown and Chinatown areas, so you can use alternative transportation means to get here and try this place out! Routes #1, 1L, 2, 3, 6, 13, 42, 54, etc. just to name a few will get you close by. You just need to walk here. When in doubt, just google directions and get here. You may be pleasantly surprised of what you will find here. I know I did and I was skeptical at first. For myself, the overall experience was decent and typical. Super Phở accepts major credit cards, minus the American express, so that’s always a good deal for those of us who do heavy plastic transactions. Cash is always accepted here as well. The service was also decently good and typical. Definitely spot on and correct. I myself ordered the summer rolls for $ 6.99 and the combination Phở for $ 8.99 with the meat inside the steamy broth. My co-workers order Phở too, one had the combination and the meat outside, and the other ordered one with beef balls only and just green onion, and nothing else. Best part was that they gave us a healthy dosage of bean sprouts and basil for our usage and I used as much as I can. I felt full after the Phở feast and thankful that I didn’t order a side order of rice noodles! Super Phở is definitely a small mom and pop operation that would love to serve you, when given the opportunity to do so. The portion size was adequate for sure, but the noodles was kind of lacking. Yes, I did order the summer rolls, but I should have gotten extra noodles instead. Oh well, live and learn. I suppose. I will recommend this sister location of Super Phở. It’s one of the better authentic Vietnamese restaurants I have been to. The broth was decent, yet kind of light in taste. I will definitely be back with my office lunch bunch, whenever that happens. We used to go to Phở My Lan, but I will recommend Super Phở for the next time. Support local! B

I love the super phở that is on Waialae so when this little gem opened up, I was thrilled, especially since I was working downtown, that has changed sadly so I must return to the original spot on Waialae when I can. The soup tasted the same, the décor was similar, but newer, and the service was great. One downside to this location is the bathroom. It was pretty disgusting when I went. The kind where you wish you didnt have to go to the bathroom and you want to touch everything with a barrier. Yuck-o. Still love the Waialae location, but glad to know there is one closer to my house that I can run to if my craving just cant wait.

Reading the other reviews, it’s a mixed bag. In my opinion, it’s somewhere in the middle. I ordered the seafood phở for $ 10.99. Pluses: Service is great, your food is sent out promptly, friendly, and efficient. The restaurant is new, clean, and has A/C. The phở broth has the right aromatics, note a strong hint of cinnamon. The soup comes out hot and steamy and the veggies are fresh. The shrimp in the soup is slightly raw which prevents it from being overcooked. Minuses: phở only comes in one size and it’s the portion is not that big(see pic), noodles comes out a bit on the soft and overcooked side. You only get four 26⁄30 sized shrimp, three fish balls, and squid. For the price you pay and the portion, it’s doesn’t compare favorably to other phở places. For example, Phở Tri and Golden River also has a seafood phở for less, bigger portion, and broth is slightly better.

I recently conducted my own undercover investigation, successfully completed over the course of several weeks. My mission was to prove, beyond all doubt, my theory that Super Phở has the best Vietnamese food on the island. I went to over a dozen vietnamese restaurants, including some of my long-standing favorites such as Hale Vietnam, Phở One, Phở Bistro, and others just to make sure that I wasn’t shunning any other place that might potentially be better. I had to determine if Super Phở was as insanely good as I’ve always believed it to be — or was I just crazy? I am happy, no, thrilled, to report that I am NOT crazy. So relieved! Woo-hoo! Yay! I’m not crazy! After eating my way through dozens of bowls of phở, bun thit, papaya salad, rice dishes, pork chops, spring rolls, nuoc cham, Bahn xeo, noodles, etc., I can now assure all readers of this review that Super Phở is, indeed, the BEST vietnamese restaurant on Oahu — and quite possibly on earth. The new location in Chinatown is every bit as tasty as their other place, my old standby, in Kaimuki. Possibly even better since Asian restaurants really need to be on their game in Chinatown or they won’t last. Super Phở is a small, family-owned business and I don’t know if harder workers can be found anywhere. All the employees are very friendly and appreciative of our business. They have an incredible menu with any type of vietnamese dish you could possibly want. Everything is seasoned to perfection and portion sizes are very generous. Please give this location a try, even if it’s a bit more of a hassle to get there. Amazingly delicious food, great prices, nice portion sizes, extensive menu, friendly help. In short, Super Phở is perfection and has earned my love over many years of consistent food and service. Two chopsticks up!!!

Unlike Richard R.‘s experience, I actually enjoyed this place. I accidentally came upon this place after getting my haircut. Went in about 1135am and their was a few tables filled. I sat down and was given a menu, along with a glass of water, pretty quickly. There was only one female who took care of the front. She was very pleasant and polite. She took my order within 3 minutes. The kitchen workers helped deliver the food. I later found out that it’s a small family business and they plan on hiring a few more people. I ordered the summer rolls and the sliced beef salad. The summer rolls were nicely presented and were tasty. They had both shrimp and pork inside, and came with basil garnish. The salad consisted of lettuce, onions, carrots, peanuts and basil. There was a lot of sliced beef and also what appeared to be pieces of chipped beef. The dressing was light with a sweet tangy flavor. I enjoyed the food and the service. The female came around enough to keep my water glass full and to make sure everything was good. I definitely will be back.
