A lot of choices, good for the prices, and the lady that took our order was super sweet. And they deliver

Pictures of dishes all over the place. Ooooo look they get duck feet, shucks, I already ordered. Mmm stuffed bitter melon, Peking duck with bun, quite a few Chinatown choices. Kinna question the scrambled eggs with salted eggs and rice. Had ox tail soup. Cause everybody was rushing me. Would have liked to try the other stuff. Free ice cream for dessert? Ah, I didn’t see that. Missed it. Thought the prices were a little high. But when the servings came out. Okay, it was worth it.

It’s okay. Food was tasty enough – didn’t really match the picture, like a commercial sandwich to the real thing. My largest prob is when you compare this restaurant to others that are close by like golden chinese food(way better than this place). :/it’s a meh experience. I’ll go back to golden instead when I want chinese, all around better(price, atmosphere, seating, service).

Went here for lunch and ordered the minute chicken with char siu fried rice and I enjoyed it. Plate comes with two deep fried mondoo. The fried rice was to my liking with little pieces of char siu and egg — better than a lot of other places’ fried rice where to me are plain compared to this one. The minute chicken was flavorful also. It’s like plate lunch Chinese — Not too many places where you have the main dish with char siu fried rice and a lot of times at other places if the dish does come with fried rice it will be plain fried rice. This place in terms of my taste is delicious!!! Will be definitely be returning here again…

As with all Chinese restaurants, they have a lot of options to pick from. I have never been to a place where they have a picture of all the plates from the entire menu. Located in Kalihi next to the Post Office. There is other restaurants in the shopping center so you have options if you dont«see» what you want to eat. I have tried this place a number of times. I would have to say that my favorite is the minute chicken cake noodle with choy sum. Since it is made to order, expect the sauce to be hot and the pan noodles to be extra crispy. The others in my party eat here atleast once a week. They swear the Salt and Pepper Shrimp is the best. I have yet to try this but it will be on my list for next week. The place I didn’t feel like its the cleanest but I’m accustomed to other Chinese establishments in other areas. Compared to other places in the area tho, it is cleaner. There isn’t air conditioning so if you are going to dine in, dress down. They have fans and vents but this put me in a mood to not try any of there soups.

First time to this place last night with one of my friends, and I got to say, it’s probably the most least desirable Chinese Restaurant I’ve been to on Oahu I’ll try to keep this short and sweet(or salty in this case). Things that we ordered: 1) Minute Chicken Cake Noodle 2) Char Sue Fried Rice 3) Crispy Gau Gee 4) Saimin 5) Mochiko Kitchen — Cake Noodle: Pan Fried. Crispy. Salty.(Probably had MSG) — Fried Rice: Looked good. No flavor. — Gau Gee: Under coked bater? Or as it seemed — Saimin: First time I never drank the soup — Mochiko Chicken: Let the Japanese restaurants do this

Open on Xmas Day? That’s great! Enjoyable Chinese food, shown in a wide assortment of literally hundreds of photos on the walls of the small restaurant. While the food was good, the wait help was really attentive and friendly. Our waitress just started working there that day! And they are open to 11 p.m. at night!

We came here because it opened late and we wanted to try a new place .The fried rice we order was the worst fried rice I’ve ever had in a Chinese restaurant. The texture of the rice was tough, we ordered the shrimp and char Sui fried rice and the shrimp was the size of a nickel. Over all the fried rice is terrible. The gau gee wasn’t good but wasn’t bad, it’s edible but not tastey. Also the spring roll was really weird, taste salty and they use a weird ingredient I’ve never had in a spring roll before . Besides the food, the little Chinese girl server is nice and sweet. Sorry won’t come back

Good value with a wide selection of dishes. They give free tea but you need to ask for it. I asked for it at the end of my meal and it was super hot and they over filled the teapot so it was difficult pouring. I made a mess of tea on the table. I never was offered free ice cream at the end of my dining in meal… disappointed after reading reviews. Anyway, they dont advertise that it’s free after your meal. Tasty garlic minute chicken. The cake noodles are the best I’ve had in a restaurant. All so crisp in every bite. The bitter melon and chicken was average in taste and portion. Accommodated me with no MSG, even when I told them late in my ordering. Nice friendly atmosphere of workers and waitress. I’d go back there again to try something else because you get a good authentic Chinese meal that’s worth the price.

This place is pretty decent. It’s not amazing Chinese food but it hits the spot, its open late and its not expensive. I would give it a 3.5 star rating for these factors. We had the garlic chicken fried rice and mandoo plate(3⁄5 stars) — the chicken was seasoned in what tasted like flour, garlic and 5-spice, not the sweet and sticky garlic chicken you find at Korean places, but decent nonetheless. Fried rice was ok– not too greasy, but not brimming with goodies which is what makes fried rice da bomb in my humble opinion. The mandoo were a bit soft and could have been fried longer. Also got the ong choi and beef plate(2⁄5 stars). Tons of ong choi, cooked just right. A few other veggies like canned mushrooms, carrot and water chestnut slices. The beef didn’t taste good. cheap cuts of meat and had pieces of gristle and pretty flavorless. The gravy was not overly flavorful. It was a bit greasy. I wouldn’t order again. You get free ice cream when you dine in, not when you take out.

Nope. Never again. Ever, never ever. Stomach ache on a plate. Wall papered with pictures of luscious meals. Lies, all lies. Prices velly cheap. No wonder… The food took so long to come out. Remove one star. I mean over 15 minutes for a noodle plate and a side of chicken wings? No one was in the place. I ordered first. Obviously I ordered first. 5 minutes later, another customer walked in. After he ordered I heard the wok turn on. I could hear the cook fire up the wok each time he made a dish. Only one burner? Hmmmm. I ordered first. Fellow diner got his meal before I did. WTFut? The seafood on top of my noodles tasted exactly the same. The shrimp tasted like the squid tasted like the fish tasted like the scallop. Minus another star. The noodles were bathed in a thin, brown, tan soup/sauce. Muddy, clearly not salted enough. No flavor. None. If it were not for the noodles wheat~y, starchy texture, I wouldn’t have been able to distinguish a shrimp from a bite of noodles. They were old and over done. Maybe if he hadn’t made me wait over 15 minutes for them… Goodbye third star. The chicken, called Wing dings didn’t look like the picture on the wall. They were crispy and salty good but teeny tiny, itsy bitsy, puny muny. Flap one star away with this Wing Ding. Seven dolla for 7 segments. Not 7 wings. 7 segments of wings. Fut. This is the first time in my life(and I’ve had bad noodles before) that I couldn’t eat more than a couple of bites. Food completely tasteless. Tried dousing it with mustard sauce. It disappeared in to the muddy soup. Next bite, tasteless. What a neat trick. Where’d the mustard shoyu go? Sunny made it disappear! Dunno. Dontcare.

Born from necessity… and fueled by hunger, my favorite foodie friend’s mom said that we should maybe grab a bite to eat. SURE!!! «I’m a little bit hungry». Ok, we can grab something. What do you feel like eating? «i like to eat Chinese food». OK! Out comes my SmartPhone with my Unilocal app in tow… Search for Chinese, open now, less than 6 miles. couple of seconds later and Sunny Chinese comes up on the radar! 3 miles away… not too far. $ so I know it’s affordable. Gary N. gave it 4 stars… ok. Let’s try it! Holy Food Photo Overload, Batman! They have a take out menu… but who needs that when you can just look at the walls??? The walls are covered floor to ceiling with photos of all of the items that they serve. There was the«noodle» section, the«soup» section. Items for $ 7.95 section… Catering??? they have that too! We ordered a few staples: Seafood Pan Fried Noodle, String Beans with Chicken, and Roast Duck Noodle with a side of Salted Egg, Sesame Balls and a couple of drinks. Fast food is an understatement! The food came out quick and it was surprisingly tasty. After the last 3 Chinese food debacles I had recently experienced in Mililani, I was somewhat apprehensive about what I was going to encounter here. ^5’s for the pleasant surprise! The service was great… the customers that were dining there were super helpful too. We chuckled at how overwhelming the menu was but I think that it kind of lended to the conversation with our new foodie friends. We walked out of there with left overs and a bill totalling $ 32! WTF??? and it came with free ice cream novelty treats??? WOW!!! Loved it so much, we came back the next night and tried out a few more items: Salt & Pepper Shrimp– YUM! Crispy Pork Intestines– Pretty damn good according to the Foodie Mom Veggie Tofu Fried Noodles– Tasty! plus a few more noodle dishes to bring home and we still only spent $ 50 for the whole thing! Amazing! If Im in Kalihi and it’s kinda late… and happen to have a craving for some take out Chinese Fast Food… Guess where I’m going???

My sister invited me out to dinner tonight only to get 2 strikes. She downloaded her Unilocal application via Google(when she already has a Unilocal account but failed to log in) that had incorrect information. Her first choice of Ray’s Café closes at 3pm on Sundays and the doors were closed. The new Marukame Udon on Fort Street Mall has this place open on Sundays on Google’s Unilocal but this place had lights out. By this time I was getting a little irritated as I was hungry. Grrrr… I recall reading some reviews in the past and recently saw this place when I ate at the New Diner’s Drive Inn the other week. I suggested my family to come here so we gave it a try. As I recall, this place is bombarded with pictures of their menu items all over the wall. You have pictures all over the place coordinated with alphabets and numbers. It took some time to absorb the menu items as this was all a first for our party of 6 tonight. It seems that Dee Dee is no longer the owner here because there was a different girl serving us. She had a thick mainland China accent but spoke enough English to get by. Among the 6 of us we ordered 5 plates and 1 side order: Pepper-Salt Pork Chops w/Curry Chicken Fried Rice(4⁄5) One of my sisters and I both ordered this plate. It came out quite quickly and we both were disappointed as the pork chops were 2x deep-fried. They were dark in color and dry. Before my sister could say anything, I flagged down our waitress and told her I wasn’t going to eat this. It was clearly overcooked and they needed to redo the plate. In about 10 minutes later the 2 plates came back and the pork chops were very good. Hot, juicy and flavorful. And very tender. I sure wasn’t going to settle for«pork jerky». The fried rice was interesting. It had a subtle curry flavor and it was missing something. My sister suggested I add some hot sauce, which I did. The hot sauce elevated the fried rice. This plate also came with 2 deep-fried mandoo. They were crispy and not oily. This plate was good and worth ordering again. Garlic Chicken w/Char Siu Fried Rice(4⁄5) My niece ordered this dish and I tried it. The chicken was cooked to order so it came out very fresh. This place uses skinless and boneless chicken thighs so it was tender. This plate also came with 2 deep-friend mandoo. In my opinion, a solid dish. Orange Chicken w/Char Siu Fried Rice(4⁄5) Nephew’s meal. Chicken had a beer batter like outside coating with a so-called orange sauce. It tasted more like a generic sweet-and-sour red sauce. Chicken was also made fresh as you could still enjoy the crunch of the outside coating. Plate also had 2 deep-fried mandoo. Minuite Chicken w/Cake Noodle(4⁄5) Rather than the typical pan-fried minute chicken, this place deep-fried the chicken. It was good but it lacked the juiciness that I am used to. Noodles were cooked very well and still had the crispy texture with gravy poured over it. It came with a FEW pieces of CHOYSUM vegetables. Wished they put more veggies in this dish. Very good dish. ONGCHOY Vegetables w/Beef(4⁄5) Very good but unique at the same time. I never had water chestnuts, carrots and baby corn with ONGCHOY before. I mean, this place is more like Chinese food to satisfy the local clientele. Surely wasn’t authentic but very palatable in my opinion. Nothing fancy but just a nice garlic sauce for this dish. As stated in the other reviews, at the end of the meal this place gives you complimentary ice cream for dessert. We were given 2 each of drumsticks, ice cream sandwiches and chocolate coated ice cream. Because the girl was handling all tables as well as taking take-out orders via in person and phone, she was scrambling back-and-forth. I wanted to help myself to the ice water pitcher but it was empty! Before I could say anything, she came to our table to clear the dishes and at that time she asked if we wanted more water. The next thing I know she got more ice from the back, filled up the pitcher and poured more water for our table. This place shares a parking lot with other establishments but there’s still quite a bit of stalls. If you enjoy local style Chinese food and a great bargain, this place is for you. NOTES: 1) Credit cards accepted here. 2) There is a huge chalkboard on the wall and it lists the«Today’s Specials».

Really vast selection of lunch plates and pictures of what it looks like on their walls. Daunting to look at but it really simplifies you from guessing what the heck it is. Good cheap standard Chinese food. Dine in or takeout, your choice. It’s quite a fair amount of food for the price, you won’t be hungry after you leave. Sorry that’s about it, short & sweet. Again my tastes are my own, yours may vary. Cheers!

Mmm Crispy Chicken Deliciousness! FIrst of all, let me start by saying, do not go here while you are hungry. There are hundreds of mouthwatering photos all over this restaurant that make you just want to keep ordering! At one point, I looked at my boyfriend, deadly serious mind you, and said: «why don’t the two of us just get a FAMILY pack for $ 39.95 then we can stuff our faces til our hearts content :)…no?» Sadly, he did not agree to this plan. But I still ended up stuffed and happy so I have no complaints. Not only is the food delicious here, but it’s also cheap! For $ 32, we got 1 plate of minute chicken over cake noodle, 1 plate minute chicken fried rice, 1 plate sweet sour pork, crispy chicken, and fried rice, and side order of gau gee. I think whats extra awesome about this place, is when doing minute chicken take-out, they don’t just pour the sauce all over the cake noodles and chicken and send you on your way, no, they put the sauce in another container so that when you go home, you get to enjoy super super crispy noodles(and sauce as you please… definitely a plus!). :) Some places make cake noodles like well.cake. They make it kind of condensed and mushy with bits of crispiness on the outside. But not here! Here it’s soooo crispy. Very reminiscent of when we used to eat raw ramen as kids(no? no one remember this? sigh.) My highlight of the night however was the Crispy Chicken and the Gau Gee. Mmmm… the crispy chicken is very reminiscent of peking duck. I swear it’s prepared the same way because when you bite into that super crispy outer skin, you just taste the sweet duck fat goodness. It was so tasty and crispy on the outside and soft, non-dry chicken meat on the inside. The Gau Gee looked kind of burnt at first when we got it. But as soon as I put it in my mouth… it was heaven. Very flavorful, not overly oily, suppper crispy. I’m definitely a fan. The fried rice sadly was just so-so to me. Seemed to be missing some salt and I couldn’t find ONE charsiu in this charsiu fried rice! :(But…it was pretty busy when we went last night. So I forgive them. lol This place is definitely a must try if you’re into big portion, cheap prices, and tasty yumminess. Parking can be challenging, but if you wait a bit, someone usually leaves. :)

Stumbled on Sunny Chinese Restaurant on Unilocal.I found it looking for Chinese restaurants with high star ratings. I first then read the reviews and pretty much a lot of them were positives. I said why not. I traveled all the way from Waipahu to pick it up & had to get something from town too. Stopped by and knew exactly what strip mall they were in. Its where diners is. When you first step in, you will be overwhelm by the pictures of food on the walls. Just a warning, dont come here on a empty stomach. I did my home work first before coming in. The things you have to get was The cake noodle minute chicken. I then added Egg plant tofu & sweet sour pork. I asked them to not add MSG and they did it with no problem. I get home, cause i took take out for me and my mom said she LOVES the place. First off, it was very tasty to both of us even though there was no MSG added. thats a very big plus for us, and secondly, it wasn’t oily at all like other Chinese restaurants. My mom kept on asking where was this place and kept on raving how good it was and it wasn’t oily. That you know is a legit place. The waiter was also very very friendly and kept me updated on how long more my order will take. I’ll come by again and try other things for sure but the stuff i tried tasted fantastic.

A Hidden Gem to me! Thanks to an electronic called GPS, it wasn’t that difficult to find!(otherwise, I would be circling the block) Best part? OPEN till 11pm! Hell to the YES! SO hard to find a place that is open anything past 8p/9p! Welcomed by a sweet smiling lady, and told us to sit, and try the a la carte and what the specials were. Parking was a little difficult as well because it’s shared with other places. Walked in, Pictures of the food everywhere! Well damn! Tease me why don’t you? Tease the poor little hungry girl who can never decide what she wants to eat! My goodness, I wish it was this easy to order in every restaurant, who doesn’t like looking at mouth watering meals on a wall?! The hardest part on making your order, was deciding which one you want! Ordered the special of Egg flower soup $ 6.50 for a HUGE bowl that could feed maybe 6 people, we had to take that ish HOME forreals! Husband ordered, sweet and sour pork — outcome? let’s just say there was LESS talking, and all you hear was ‘omg, .OoH!’ someone was having a mouthgasm! I ordered the pork chop with garlic sauce, it was too chewy for me, but nonetheless delicious! When you’re ready to pay… What?! No fortune cookie? no… candy?! NOSON, you GET a damn vanilla fudge ice cream or Neapolitan Ice cream sandwich! THAT’S WSUP! Such great service, even when the lady was busy, she still made time to serve the soup and food to you, and not just hand over the food! :) Gotta love mom & pop shops!
