They can’t seem to understand that a business in a «mall» like setting can’t randomly choose to close before posted closing time. Or, at least I am assuming there are rules and policies that merchants must follow at Moanalua 99 food court. Each time I came here on Sunday the place is either closed or I’m the last order 15 – 20 min BEFORE the scheduled close time. If it’s not the owner making this decision I wonder if the owner knows if this? And Ranch 99, are you aware that this is happening? Poor service or I should say undependable. Driving all this way to be told we are closed… at 4:30!!! SMH

We stopped in the the old Ranch 99 location in Mapunapuna for lunch, I don’t know what this place is officially called but there are so many choices, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Vietnamese. We decided on Japanese Curry. I chose the Mabo Ramen set the comes with gyoza and fried rice, we also ordered the seafood with crispy noodles, and a side of chicken wings. Not bad and inexpensive. Try them out.

This is a really good deal to eat at. My husband ordered their Mochiko Chicken Curry combo. Which also has 6 pieces of gyoza n 1 small ramen all for $ 9.00 bucks. My husband loved their curry sauce n O ate the ramen. The ramen was a nice change from the other saimins. The broth was yummy n the noodles was fresh. I’ll be back here for another round. On a side note my husband is not really a curry person but this place made him think twice about it! He said the curry is not spicy but the flavoring is spot on… Here’s some pictures of it! Sorry husband didn’t want to stop eating because it was that good.

Came here today for lunch with the family since they had the holiday off. I ordered the spicy beef ramen based on the wonderful picture displayed… bad choice. The beef was very thin; I would call it little«shavings,» and there were just a few bean sprouts in the bowl; very unlike the picture. I also didn’t care for the broth. They used the kind of chili spice used in Chinese restaurants. I think they might have just poured chili oil in the broth and not bothered to marinade the beef beforehand. It was uninspired, and weirdly bland, to say the least. Not to mention the big, dark cavern of a place this and the other food places are located in… just plain depressing. I had to say to my brood, «Sorry, family! I won’t do this to you again!»

I love the mochiko chicken mini plate. Less than $ 5.00 and they give you 7 pieces with rice & lots of Mac salad! Their ramen is hot & tasty with a big slice of beef & a bit of fish cake, too. Head down to Ranch 99 Market & enjoy a plate lunch in air conditioned comfort!

One of the few restaurants that my daughter likes. So in other words I eat here pretty frequently. Her favorite restaurant is McDonald’s and this is her second favorite place. We always eat the combo. She takes the noodles and I eat the plate. Prices are super good for the amount of food they give. We probably spend the same amount of money here as we do at McDonald’s. I like McDonald’s but I can’t eat it as often as my daughter would like to. I also like the open seating so it’s a pretty good place for my 5 year old. Sometimes she can do a little homework here too.

I will never order from here again. I’ve eaten at the Sumo Ramen at Market City and ordered their combo. They give a lot more than here. Never again.

Sumo Ramen is just one of many eateries located inside«Moanalua 99.» Think of it as a food court without the Mall serving the businesses in the area. I had the mini Mochiko Chicken, which came with Mac salad and rice for $ 5. Staff is friendly and the food is delicious.

Fam will eat here at least twice a month… love the tan tan Ramen(no sprouts please — not craving«sprout-men»). Comes with a slice or two of pork, half a hard boiled egg, kamaboko, and corn. Slurp! I usually can make two meals out of this one order… but not tonight! The fam got cold soba with shrimp tempura. The soba was good, albeit the portion was a little small and the three pieces of shrimp was a tad greasy for my liking. However, they ate it all up. Also, can’t go wrong with a side order of mochiko chicken and chiken katsu…

Yo, these guys had their children working the register; I’m talking 6 — 8 year Olds. I may be exaggerating but you get the point. Any way, I got the«chicken katsu curry ramen» and added some hot sauce. The katsu wasn’t that great but the curry ramen was delicious. There are other restaurants in 99 ranch but this satisfies the craving for ramen.

My daughter has gymnastics every weekend in this building and this is my favorite place to pick up lunch or dinner. I looove their mochiko chicken so much! I get the regular sized plate with fried rice and it’s big enough for my two kids and I to share. The fried rice has little bits of meat in it(I’m guessing char siu pork but it’s different that the usual kind) that is so flavorful and delicious. The mochiko chicken is so hot and fresh(and miraculously manages to stay that way even when we get take out and eat it at home!). There’s a lot of skin and fat to remove(I’m picky about that) but it’s worth it. Despite their name, I’m not really a fan of their ramen. I haven’t tried many other things because I love the mochiko chicken so much. It’s even really good leftover and reheated the next day!

Pretty disappointed. I had the chicken katsu curry. My chicken was very thin and even though it was fried, it didn’t have much flavor. Also, they didnt serve a lot of curry with my meal, I was left with a lot of dry rice. My order was ready quick though.

The girl and older lady are always friendly and welcoming. I think the prices are worth it and while the food is not extravagant, it’s not bad. This is a satisfaction rating, not a comparaitve rating of ramen places. Sumo’s should not be considered«as good as it gets,» but I love this location, I love the workers and the price is great for what you get. Honestly it’s actually pretty on-par with various ramen places on the island, taste-wise. The food quality seems exactly the same as the place in Mililani town center and the ramen-ya near Pearl City Wal-Mart. In addition, they seem to definitely follow all the same recipes as other Sumo shops within their chain or franchise. I appreciate the consistency. Again, the 5-star rating doesn’t mean it’s fancy and the food is awesome. This is within the realm of typical ramen shops as well as typical $ 7 — $ 10 to-go lunch spots. It’s just the Japanese version of L&L. The service is good, the people are very nice and like to joke around and talk story, and I never finish my food – I swear I get an abundance of food for $ 9-$ 10. Maybe I should stop getting those combos lol.

As a kid, I’ve always enjoyed eating curry. May it be hamburger curry, Hawaiian style beef curry, Indian curry, or spicy Thai curry w/coconut milk. But my favorite has got to be Japanese style curry. I came here to dine with a friend last night as he recommended this place. Someone had introduced this place to him and enjoyed it so much that he suggested me to have dinner here. Located in the food court at 99 Ranch Market, I immediately realized this place is operated by Cantonese speaking Chinese as I understood everything that was being said between the counter staff and the kitchen staff. Unlike your usual Chinese establishment where customer service is lacking, the staff was very friendly and smiled when taking our order. It did take me some time to decide what to order because I do enjoy a bowl of ramen, fried rice and their combo sets which includes gyoza(Japanese pot stickers). But my friend emphasized curry to me and he himself got the chicken katsu curry. I didn’t want to order the same thing so I went for their mochiko chicken curry plate. I did like the large display to the left of this food stall that had various meals there corresponded with numbers so you can tell the counter staff what number you’d like to have. To my surprise, the food came out quite quickly and it was sure flavorful. The curry was zesty and the chicken was deep-fried and remained juicy. I kind of like the idea of their plates being offered in regular or mini size. Because I had hiked several times prior to dinner, I made sure to replenish my body with a FULL order… With Japanese curry comes along FUKUJINZUKE(red pickles) and unfortunately, a very small amount was put on my plate. Perhaps a way to keep their costs down? Overall, a decent place with great service and delicious food at reasonable prices.

You know that feeling when you’re majorly craving some hearty, junk food? You make a special stop to pick some up and you order waaaay too much. Then you go home, sit down and stuff the food in your face as fast as you can. By the time you’re done, you sit back and welcome the kanack attack, only to realize that you feel like you ate cardboard. That’s what I felt when I last bought food from Sumo Ramen & Curry. I could taste the croquette curry combo(curry, rice, mini ramen, 4 piece gyoza for $ 9.50) in my mouth before I ordered it, but after the plates were wiped clean, I felt no satisfaction. My food baby is protruding, but I don’t feel full, if that makes sense. In all, it seems like a wasted meal, and my biggest regret is that I put too much faith in emptiness. I was disappointed by the quality of the food, but now I also feel fat.

Wandering around the old 99 Ranch area gives you so many average food choices to pick from. Sometimes I walk around to see what I want and then I just get back in my car and drive somewhere else because nothing seems appealing. One day i decided to give Sumo Ramen & Curry a try. I am a sucker for crispy noodles, so that’s what I ordered, the Seafood Crispy Noodles. The noodles are a good portion, and arranged in such a way where you always have a portion of crispy noodles no matter now long you’ve been eating. I can’t stand other places where everything is instantly soggy when you get it because it’s over sauced. It’s made with the skinny noodles(I hate when they use fat noodles) which was wonderful, and the seafood/vegetable mixture was nicely placed in the center of my crispy noodle nest. The seafood part was a little skimpy, but honestly, I really just eat it for the noodles so it didn’t bother me. All I can say, is now I have a go to place if I ever find myself in that area again.

Always get the chicken katsu curry when I come here. Good portions at a great price. Even the mini is a good size.

This place is always consistant and they serve up a good amount of chow for an excellent value. It is easy to feed 2 hungry people here for 10 bucks.

Sumo ramen gets points in my book for being one of the only take out places in Moanalua 99 that accept credit card. There is a good variety of fried items and japanese curry for pretty reasonable prices. I purchased the mochiko chicken mini plate for ~$ 5. The mochiko chicken was pretty darn good, but the portion was pretty small… I guess I should have expected that when I ordered the mini. The girl behind the cash register wasn’t the friendliest and parking isn’t very convenient unless you go at a non-rush hour time.

Both of my daughters(5 years old &1 year old) love eating ramen and we eat at Sumo Ramen every 2 – 3 weeks. It’s not my first choice for where I’d want to grab a meal but because we take gymnastics in the same complex(Old 99 Ranch), it’s convenient. Normally we order a shoyu ramen and gyoza combo for $ 7.65. It usually takes 5 – 10 minutes for them to prepare our food and we eat at the tables in the food court. The woman who runs this food stand is always very nice to us and has children of her own. I always have them separate the broth from the noodles because then I can give them plain noodles with just a little broth. This way there’s no chance of burning a tongue or 2nd degree burns on an arm or a leg. The portion is more than enough for us to share. My little ones are both very picky eaters so it’s nice to have a snack which will occupy them for a good 10 – 15 minutes. But boy, what a mess they make! Sumo Ramen is a good pick for lunch/dinner if you’ve got kids. It’s affordable and fast which are always helpful. In my opinion, it’s also more healthy than some of the other options in the food court. Unilocal 365 Challenge: #141/365(The Kids Pick)
