Smart Karate

We can’t say enough good things about Smart Karate. Our son is age 5 years old and he enjoys karate so much and as we watched him grow in a positive way way with Smart Karate, we decided to have his twin sister enroll in Smart Karate and she enjoys the experience as much as her brother. The teachers are amazing and they just don’t teach karate, they provide lessons in life. For example, after every class, their teachers will instruct the students to face their parents and will explains to the students the importance of thanking their parents for all that they do for them and instructs the students to bow to bow to the parents and then to the teachers. Another example, to me it may be so simple but very important. The teachers provide an example on how to shake hands, make eye contact and talk directly with that person. Little thing that we may forget but are important. The other great thing with Smart Karate, your child can attend more than one class in a week. So there are times that we may go twice a week or just once a week or if time permits, three times a week. We enjoy Smart Karate and can’t wait for the twins to test for their next belt.

It took me a few months to write this review. Life has been hectic lately… We used to live in Hawaii for 10+ years until — like too many others– we moved to the «ninth» island (Vegas). I wish there was a Smart Karate branch here.
My kids attended classes there for several years. And always enjoyed them, which is so rare for them. The instructor quality is amazing. The location is convenient. And I appreciated little tips they teach kids like: listen to your mom, clean up your room, have a good posture. Lol.

Like any parent, you have many doubts about a new place, instructors, whether your child will enjoy and learn anything, etc. I debated about sending my 5 year old here for 6 months but finally went to a class to check it out. The emails inquiring on information to visit with James, via Unilocal messages, was responded back to instantaneous. I REALLY like that. It shows commitment that Smart Karate cares.
As a picky parent, I have to admit this place is awesome so far and I enrolled him for a year (20% discount). Sensei Reiko and Sensei Gary have the positive energy, patience, and tone of voice that are perfect for children. There are a lot of helpers and no apparent discrimination of newbie vs. more skilled kids. I’m looking forward to Ethan learning to focus his mind and body, while having fun and learning some cool moves!

Smart Karate has been one of the most wonderful experiences my 10 year old daughter has ever had! She looks forward to her classes, has taken personal responsibility to bring her gee to school for her class at Ma’e Ma’e Elementary and raves about how much fun she has in the class. The teachers and mentors are terrific! I would recommend Smart Karate to everyone… young and old!
