Shiggy’s Ono Sushi

I have been picking up sushi from Shiggy’s for quite a few years now. Everything is fresh, ono and reasonably priced. My standing order is always saba, so when Shiggy or one of the girl’s sees me, they hold up one or two fingers. I usually order two. Fast and friendly service. My favorite place for take out sushi!

I’m a regular shopper at times kahala, and I always pass by the sushi area, there’s an array of sushi from inari to handrolls. Honestly the sushi looked pretty good an it was kind of cool watching the 2 girls work… until one of the workers literally dropped a piece of daikon on the floor, picked it up, rinsed it for less than a second, then rolled it up into the sushi??? uhm nasty !!! Idk about you… but any floor in a food establishment is disgusting, and not throwing away dropped food is so gross! I’m surprised to see so much good reviews on here, .I don’t know about you but ill be purchasing sushi from an establishment that actually has sanitary standards !! Take some pride in your work !

Shiggy is a very nice, happy man who puts his positive energy into the sushi he makes because they surely are some of the best-​tasting I have ever eaten. (Never been to Japan YET, so this is the closest I’ve been to «authentic»…haha!) My sisters enjoy the spicy ahi rolls; while my mom & I enjoy the California maki rolls. This sushi gets even BETTER after 5:30/6PM when Shiggy starts marking them down to «½ Price»!!! Noticed he made «tempura» rolls but didn’t get a chance to try them, & I plan to!!!

I will chime right in with the other reviewers here. Shiggy makes some great sushi. My favorite is the hamachi (yellowtail). The quality of this hamachi is EXCELLENT. It is FRESH and not fresh frozen. You get 3 orders (6 pieces) for less than $ 9.00 and it’s da kine! The ahi/​maguro, shrimp and cuttle fish are also excellent. Shiggy does the rice the right way, with the correct amounts of rice vinegar and other stuff added. Besides having great sushi and having been in Times Kahala for over 2 decades, Shiggy is just a great guy! You’ll love him and you’ll love his sushi. Guaranteed.

We can’t wait for the weekend to get our «fix» of the most ono sushi on the islands at Shiggy’s Ono Sushi located inside Times Super Market @ Kahala. «Mr. Shiggy» prepares several types of sushi right in front of you including nigiri, norimaki, temaki, and our favorite, the juicy and delicious inari. Mr. Shiggy is a very friendly and personable sushi chef that you ever want to meet. He always greets his customers with lots of love and aloha. Although we don’t live in the Kahala area, we don’t mind driving out of our way on the weekends to visit Mr. Shiggy. My husband and I usually buy his ono sushi and mini bentos for our family, friends and clients. Like us, they all love Mr. Shiggy’s ono sushi too!
