Great service, delicious food! We’ve come here a couple times to sing karaōke and a few other times just to hang out, eat and drink and we enjoyed this place every single time! The staff is super friendly and courteous and very attentive. The karaōke machine is a bit difficult to navigate through if you don’t know Korean, but the staff was very helpful in teaching us how to use it. Can’t wait to go back again soon!

Chill place to have some beer, soju, and food. Prices are good. It’s a place I often suggest if my friends and I don’t know where to go and we’re just trying to drink and hang out. The food here is good, too. The Kim Chee pancake and the Korean fried chicken are some of my favorites and are perfect drinking foods. Even if you don’t order food, they give you some pretzels or other things to snack on for free. Rooms are a good size and are comfortable. $ 1 per song karaōke. The English song selection is a little on the small side compared to other places, but it’s enough. Even on the weekends, you can usually get a table here.

I use to like going here. Not anymore. My brother and I got disrespected by one of the employees. The rooms are a dollar per song, NOTBYTHEHOUR. we got sat in a small room and after being showed to the room, the waiter didn’t even come back in to take orders or to check if we were doing ok. All he did was drop off water and leave right away. So we only stayed for about 15 minutes; put in some songs to kill time. I had to go to work so I left my brother and his friend there. As they were leaving, which was about 10 minutes after me, the waiter stopped them and said to pay $ 25 for the room. Uhhhh then why did we pay a dollar per song again? $ 25 dollars for about half an hour at 5 pm on a weekday? I can find karaōke places that are $ 25 for ONEHOUR during that time. If anything, we should’ve been told about the room rate before hand. What’s even worse is that apparently, the«manager» told me and my sister the«last time we came here» about the room rate. First of all, I’ve never met this«manager» before. Second, my sister doesn’t even know who this«manager» is either. And lastly, I NEVERGOTCHARGEDFOR A ROOMBEFORE. After I told my brother(on the phone) that I have not been told this before, they started coming up with excuses: bad English = bad communication skills. But guess what? I’m Korean! I can understand everything you guys talk about, shit talk or not. So apparently, I owe them $ 25 the next time I come in. Are you kidding me? Im getting charged for something that I didn’t know about. Im pretty sure that’s not legal. I usually tip 40% off my entire bills because I use to like the staff here. I would always tell my friends to come here because the service and food was good. The new staff? Not too much. The service? Sucks donkey balls. I will never be coming back to this scheming bar ever again.

Remember when this place was a restaurant. Now it has become a Korean bar/karaōke. It is very big and spacious and they offer good deals. Jayson L and I decided to celebrate the ending of a banging 4th of July weekend by relaxing with beers and Korean Chicken! Love that they had tables that gives you more privacy. But they have very few available. Lucky it was not a busy night, so we got on the spot service and seating! It was not very loud and we both had a good time talking! However, I don’t know how soon I will be back here. This place seems to lack something… I just can’t put my finger as to what…

i recently discover that shaka shaka is new name for choon chun chicken which used to be my favorite out take out chicken place. I wanted to go have a drink and chicken because beer and chicken is the best, i decide it to go check out shaka shaka and when we arrived it was empty. i was thinking is it a good idea to go to somewhere it’s empty? i don’t know, oh well we parked anyway let’s give it a try. they sat us in a long table where we can be alone so i liked it. we had our own space and wasn’t a open table where people can see us. I was flipping though the page and i saw combo deal they call it. i got the 2 beer, korean style bbq fried chicken, fries, and mexican salad for $ 40 dollars. i thought beer and food for 2 at $ 40 isn’t so bad price at the bar. i asked and they give whole chicken so i order it. Chicken had a really thick batter but flavor was good. i can tell they use lots of corn syrup because i can taste the heavy sugar with thick coating. Fries was just like other fries, it was fried just enough to be crispy which i liked it. The mexican salad,(i have no idea why it’s call mexican salad and i love mexican food) it was just cabbage shredded with ham and mayo. very heavy mayo which i’m not a big fan of it so i thought it was ok. i was expecting some hot sauce salad. Over all i had a few drinks with my gf and we had a good time because it wasn’t so loud like every korean bar.

Chill spot to grab a beer and some grub on any given day without it being overly crowded — there’s no need to beckon incessantly for attention here. Well, not in my experience, at least. Happy hour is from 5pm — 8pm, which is great because most happy hours end around 6! Pitchers run for about $ 8, and they have some other great flavored soju and makgulli, if you’d rather have sweeter cocktails. FOOD! [[ Kimchi Pancake ]] — soft, fluffy, crispy-edged, spicy, kimchi-fied pillows of goodness. I wish the sides were just a little crispier, but this is one of my favorite places to grab me some kimchi pancake. [[ Tortilla Pizza ]] — i only recently had the chance to try this because it never sounded appetizing in the past… but dang, I’ve been missing out! For something so cheap/low in food cost(yes, I work in the industry — can’t help it), it’s fantastically satisfying… loaded with cheese, sauce, and reminiscent of your favorite microwaveable pizza from childhood. [[ Crispy/Fried Whole Chicken ]] — a Korean bar classic. Chicken chopped into four main parts and deep-fried to crispy perfection. Served with pickled daikon/carrot kimchi — my absolute favorite. I mainly order this dish for the pickled daikon, but the chicken’s decent, too. [[ Yang Yum Chicken ]] — not on the Happy Hour menu, but an absolute must-order is the yang yum chicken. Try the boneless one, or get it half and half(half yang yum, half regular deep-fried). Yang Yum is a Korean BBQ sauce/glaze that the tender morsels of chicken are marinated in. It’s a little mix of sweet, spicy, and overall, deliciousness! The sauce usually consists of kochujang(Korean red pepper paste), sometimes ketchup, garlic, sesame oil, and some other great Asian goodies. Service is pretty attentive, and up to par. It can be hit or miss in terms of hospitality and overall friendliness, but I’m a little biased because I’m Korean and they treat me prety well(hah…) I like that they give you chex mix though as «anjoo»(beer snacks) before you actually get your food. American munchie starter for the Korean feast!

I came here for a work function. .. nah, just kidding, I came here to get raging drunk with coworkers. Sufficient parking is located in the back of Shaka Shaka. Note that this lot is dimly lit and enclosed a bit from the public, so for all you parking lot pimpers/pimpettes, this place might just be legit enough for you to do a little pregaming before the actual gaming. For all you non-parking lot pimpers/pimpettes don’t forget to hide your belongings from plain view within your vehicles and lock your car doors from the parking lot pimpers/pimpettes. ATMOSPHERE: robust, loud, and clean. So don’t be afraid to drink and pass out on the marbled floors. The staff is on it when it comes to customer service, they cool beans. The private karaōke rooms seat guests comfortably, no sardine vibe here. Definitely a good place to just be with good company. The songs need to be updated ASAP, that’s the only thing that didn’t tickle my pickle so much. FOOD: the food aesthetically looked pleasing, but I didn’t fucks with it because I was getting my drank on wif a beeru and soju combination.(NOT A RECOMMENDEDMIXOF A DRINKIFPLANNINGTODOSTRENUOUSACTIVITIESONTHELATTER). All-in-all, this is definitely a good substitute place to come to if Café Duck Butt is too packed. FIN.

This place is definitely recommended. The staff are very nice and friendly. The atmosphere and rooms there are very nice also. It is a great place for karaōke and the songs are pretty updated. The price is also very reasonable. The food is also very good. I recently had my boyfriends birthday party here and it went extremely well. Their biggest karaōke room holds about 15 ppl but we had way more ppl than that but they were happy to bring in more chairs for us and welcome us. Whenever we spilt drinks or beers the workers would willingly help clean it up. Out of all the karaōke bars and places I’ve gone to this one provided the best customer service. The bartender is also a very friendly and happy person. I love this place.

ok I’m an idiot and read the other review about parking lot after the fabric Mart, and parked next to home bar and grill and got a ticket. the place is next to Palama Market, idk why I thought it was on the lower end… anyways. it’s sketch in the front and inside you pay by song. service is quick and you pick up a phone to call them. the Kim Chee pancake was good, pitchers of beer with some close friends and it’s def a good time. song selection is a bit behind though and sparse on the pop.

Very strongly recommended ^^b the best part about this karaōke bar 1. private karaōke rooms for free! You just pay a dollar per song. 2.service is amazing! Respect is served where respect is given :) 3.beers, mixdrinks, yogurt, strawberry, lemon, ginger soju!!!(Yogurt&strawberry fav!!) 4.generous food portions! yum:3 we ordered fried whole chicken & it satisfied 4 drunk drunks with a diakon banchan and shredded cabbage for 9 $! A friend and I found this little diamond while searching for a karaōke place in town. At first we were thinking about going to Seoul karaōke but decided expensive prices in exchange for overpriced rooms, food&booze wasn’t our go to destination. Get to Shaka Shaka but mind you there’s a big sign that says choon chun chicken Lol. You walk in and everything’s so clean and new for a couple he’s I felt like royalty^^ and for one this was the first Korean establishment I DIDN’T need to be with a Korean to be treated awsome: D remember to be polite and kindly they will surely treat you as well ^_^b

My friend said she was going to Shaka Shaka and I should meet her… so I went. I had a hard time finding this place, but basically it’s near that fabric shop on Kalakaua before you hit Kapiolani. We went into one of their karaōke rooms… It’s probably suppose to be for 6 people or so, but we squeezed in 12 people or so. LoL. So ya… it was a tight squeeze for us. Their karaōke list is extensive, but if you don’t read Korean, it can be hard. Thankfully, I can… so I was able to help everyone find their song. It’s $ 1/song. Of course they have drinks and food, but I didn’t have anything since I already drank and ate before I met up with them… Next time I’ll try though!

This place is super fun! I guess it used to be called Chun Choon chicken or something. It’s a hidden little Korean bar with tasty food and free karaōke rooms, I believe! Have yet to sing my heart out here. The kitchen doesnt close til 2am so it’s a great late night spot. My friend swears by the fried chicken they have here, but my boyfriend and I opted for the spicy pork. It was yums with a small kick. Plenty parking in the back. Definitely a great place to just kick it and talk story.

My new fave karaōke spot! Food wasnt as good as Duck Butt and not too many varieties on Soju cocktails but they are much cheaper, less busy, and newer Karaōke system! And the servers are really nice!

One night my friend and I got off of work and when we finish work we are off after 12am, but we wanted a good drink and food! She was all about the super cold beer(because it gets served in a frozen glass) and I wanted flavored soju(strawberry yumm). She also raved about how delicious their fried chicken was. So, we get there, a little after 12. Parking is good, its right in the back and there is an entrance in the back. Hardly anyone there, just a couple of other tables and one room was occupied by a bunch of singers. There was one worker up in the front and she seemed a little … occupied. She was not very aware as she was super slow to serve us. We had to call her to our table a few times. And our one order of chicken took longer than 30 minutes!!! When we called her over for that she just said that they were busy earlier… I totally get it when it gets busy. But, let us know, don’t leave us hanging, and also we ordered one thing, not a list, get us out of the way and settle our order. I did enjoy the food(chicken was delicious for sure and a good price), and the soju, so I would definitely go back. I’m just going to allot more time for the service.

Is this place self-served? My friends brought us here one night for us to check out. Korean-owned karaōke bar that is very well-lit and nicely decorated. However, service was non-existent after the waitress showed us to our table. We ordered our drinks from the bar and closed our tab at the bar. Asked for more Chex Mix from the bar but they never delivered it. Sigh. We ordered a carafe of yogurt soju, $ 18, and this huge bottle of Hite beer, $ 14. The soju was strong which was much appreciated and it tasted good. If you are looking for variety of soju flavors, you are better off at Café Duck Butt. Tons of parking but it is easy to miss. Turn RIGHTAFTER Fabric Mart on Kalakaua Ave into the drive way and voila, a hidden parking lot you never knew existed in the area! Shaka Shaka wasn’t bad but it definitely was not good. Not sure if I’ll come back because of the lack of service. Thankfully, good company makes up for bad food and beverage experiences.
